Advice
[edit]Having worked on some series of articles, such as you have planned for Lucille Lortel Award categories, I'd like to share some hard-won wisdom.
- Expect it to take a long time.
- Study Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and its featured articles, to build on the accumulated experience of Wikipedians.
- If you intend to base your second list on a copy of your first list (which is very typical), it's worth spending extra time making that first list pretty darned good. Any errors or poor design decisions will propagate to successive lists, making them more time consuming to fix.
- On the other hand, don't agonize over every comma of the first list. As you do other categories you'll find that they don't always fit tidily into the pattern of the first category. You will also encounter special cases (no award given, award made posthumously, recipient stripped of award, ..., whatever). These may make you reconsider aspects of your original design. If you've invested too much in the first list you may be loathe to go back and change it, even if doing so would improve it.
- Spend some time maintaining articles outside your area of interest. At first it may seem wasteful and irrelevant, but you'll gain more practical experience sticking fingers in other pies than you could in a lifetime within a walled garden. See Wikipedia:Community portal for things you can do to help.
- Periodically poke around Wikipedia:WikiProject Theatre.
