Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~)
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put
{{My sandbox}}
on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.Sincerely, Jax 0677 (talk) 13:54, 21 February 2014 (UTC) (Leave me a message)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "EcosiaSearch", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. De728631 (talk) 16:06, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi De728631, thank you for letting us know in a friendly tone. :) Yes, I understand these things: we won't be editing under this name. We have also verified to Wikipedia that Ecosia is associated with this particular name. We will read the guides you listed. This account exists for members of Ecosia to help us learn about how Wikipedia works. Please let me know if this is in violation of any existing terms. Thank you again for getting in touch. --EcosiaSearch (talk) 20:27, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, such a use would in fact be violating our username policy because shared accounts for multiple users are not allowed at all and usernames that are simply names of companies or groups are also not permitted. Therefore I have now blocked this specific account indefinitely but please feel free to encourage your members to create their own individual user accounts. You may continue to write at this talk page but you will no longer be able to use this account for any other purposes. If you think that the account should be unblocked, please add the string
{{unblock | add your reason here }}
below this comment to explain to other administrators why you think that the block should be lifted. But as as I've mentioned before, you're all very welcome to edit under your personal accounts. These accounts may contain the name Ecosia but they need to be distinguishable, e.g. by adding personal names like "Ecosia John Smith", and they must not be shared.
