Lincoln, civil liberties

I believe that all of these things did in fact occur. Some of it was in the border states over worries that some residents might try to secede from the Union. I'm sure you can find confirmation of these things in various textbooks and on the internet. I also know for sure that, at one point, Lincoln declared martial law in Chicago.
