Ecco Pro
[edit]Please slow down at Ecco Pro. There is no need to fix what you regard as a problem immediately, particularly when that involves edit warring. I do not know which version is "correct", but since you are a new contributor I think I should let you know that it would be best to proceed slowly and calmly. Sometimes new contributors get drawn into conflicts and start commenting on other editors; please be aware that such comments are very strongly opposed here (see WP:CIVIL). You are free to make relevant remarks, but they need to be phrased neutrally by talking about an edit without speculating about an editor. If you have any questions about Wikipedia, feel free to ask at my talk page (click "new section" at the top of my talk which you can access from my signature – see WP:TP). For issues regarding the article, comment on its talk page (as you have done). Johnuniq (talk) 01:38, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
I am also going to leave you a message here. Several people find the need to keep pushing forums and others in the article, and adding information which violates our policies and guidelines. This includes mentioning of the forums as it was until I arrived this morning. Much of that text is in violation of WP:NOT, we are not a manual of finding and installing software, we are not (an extension to) Google, if people want to find thóse things, they can use Google and find it. We are writing an encyclopedia here. I saw you active on the talkpage, and I would encourage you to keep doing that. It seems to me, that also you have a conflict of interest (see the conflict of interest guideline), and even when that is not commercial, that seems to be part of the edit warring, and I therefore would suggest all 'sides' to stick to talkpage edits when it concerns that, and let uninvolved editors (i.e. editors who are not involved off-wiki in Ecco Pro) to include information when that is in line with our policies and guidelines, and there is consensus to include it. Off course you can still help in finding independent references for data, helping fix typo's etc. If you need to discuss further, there might also be a Wikipedia:WikiProject concerning software, where members may be willing to help. [edit]If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. R12056 (talk) 05:30, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
