Immigration to Iceland

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Immigration to Iceland, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you plan to add more material to the article, I advise you to do so immediately. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

This material would be better suited for the main Iceland article. Hatch68 19:47, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ebryn

I removed them because we constantly see lots of external links being added to articles about countries. The standard pretty much seems to be that we should only include a very small number of official links and nothing more. Having e.g. 10 links or so is normally much more than is accepted, and the Iceland article is already swamped by external links. I'm pretty surprised nobody has removed more of them yet. Regards. Yes, they are official, but I don't see the need for a ton of external links. Four about the same topic is definitely way too much. See e.g. Denmark#External links for an example of a list of normal length. The articles about Greece or Russia have more external links than I normally prefer, but at least they seem to have been selected more carefully than the Icelandic list. But if you believe they are necessary, then I suggest you pick one of them and add this. Wikipedia:External links has a little more information about why long lists are avoided. Regards.
