- Pages deleted as promotional
--A. B. (talk • contribs) 18:00, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
im oviously a new user and last time my page was deleted it said to create a new user because my name had advertising in it. So i did, and now the article is deleted again. Now i have read instructions on submitting a new page... in response to the instructions given under "I think my company deserves an article on Wikipedia but none exists. What can I do?"... if I follow these will it be deleted again? Eastvillage1 (talk) 18:22, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
your question
[edit]Hi. You asked at Talk:HotelPlanner.com:
- The page for hoteplanner.com should not be deleted for the following reasons:
- - we are trying to explain and clarify our patented technology of hotel bidding
- - we power sites like priceline and expedia... they are on here as well as many other companies, why wouldnt we be as well???
- - we would like to have a resouce for people to read about the bidding process that many of our customers do not understand.
- Please let me know what I can to keep this page on wikipedia. Thank you in advance for you help
In response, see the notices above. Basically you can't do this yourself because of the conflict of interest.
If your company is "notable" as defined by our Notability Guideline for Companies using reliable sources (as laid out by that guideline's very specific definition -- basically independent major news media), then we would like to have a well-sourced, neutral article. Note that such an article will include any critical coverage, too, so think carefully about whether you really want this (for a recent example of a company's whose promotional activities here boomeranged, see Park West Gallery).
I have put a draft of the deleted material at User:Eastvillage/HotelPlanner.com. You can work on it there; when you have something that meets our standards and is ready to "go live", leave a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Websites asking for a review. If it meets folks approval, others (not you) can move it back as an actual article. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. --A. B. (talk • contribs) 18:22, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your help... you have been the only one to actually offer some help. Im sure I will need more in the future. When you ask for news would press releases count that have been picked up by major companies... or do you need another form of media coverage? Eastvillage1 (talk) 18:25, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Press release recycled in the news media don't count. Take a look at that notability guideline and also at our Reliable Sources Guideline. The key is editorial oversight and independence. --A. B. (talk • contribs) 20:17, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
I have a 3rd party article that was recently written on our company. I cant firgure out how to submit it to the right people for approval... how do I continue with this? The link to the article is http://www.sdbj.com/article.asp?aID=365753202.3575403.1680393.4680706.1037038.732&aID2=129252 We made the front cover of the San Diego Business Journal and there will soon be an article in Hotel and Motel Management magazine. What now, how do I get my page to "go live"
