This message is for Happysailor and Beeblebrox regarding my request for removal of the Climate Group page. There may be other remedies for this problem, but I am probably not as familiar with Wikipedia procedures and so may not be aware of them.

The biggest problem with the Climate Group page is that it was written by employees of the organization's public relations department, I am almost 100% sure about this because it reads exactly like the organization's web site content and press kits. It is essentially an advertisement for the organization, has no citations of source, I have asked the authors to identify themselves (although I already know who they are) and they have not done so.

The biggest challenge though is that I have re-written large sections of the entry to be more factually accurate and to make it less of an advertisement, which sometimes means inserting some somewhat unflattering, although entirely accurate, information, and on each and every occasion I do so, the PR people from the Climate Group just remove my changes and put back in their advertising material.

One good example is the mention that "operations in India are underway." The reality is this: In the fall of 2007 they hired someone to head up India operations, he was with them only a month or so and then left. Neither he nor the organization will say why. They then hired a woman named Preeti Malhotra to head up the India office. She built the team to over a dozen people and held many large meetings. That was 2008-2009. She left some time in 2009, and more or less the entire India team left also, leaving the organization with only a couple of people there, none of them experienced enough to actually lead operations.

The US operations have also experienced tremendous turmoil, with some serious financial problems and layoffs. I inserted information on that and it was similarly removed.

I changed the entry to reflect this, to contain this information, and they simply changed it back. It gets to be frustrating, but I do not know how to stop them from doing this. In the end, what is left there is an advertisement. It is not neutral, it is highly biased. It is factually inaccurate in many places, and in general very misleading as it conceals a lot of materially relevant factual information.

So, I would love to edit the entry to make it more factually accurate, to have a neutral point of view and to be more of an encyclopedia entry and less of an advertisement, but also would like to have some way of protecting those edits from being summarily undone by the Group's PR people.

Could you advise me on how to do this? That would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

Well, there's no need to start from scratch, you can revert the article to any of the previous version in the page history. If you don't have WP:TWINKLE activated, you can go to the "gadgets" tab in your preferences and turn it on to make reverting and restoring old versions of pages very easy. Try to directly engage the users undoing the edits or adding non-neutral material by inviting them personally on their talk pages to join in conversation on the article's talk page. If there is a persistent problem, avoid edit warring but consider requesting page protection or pursuing one of the many types of dispute resolution available on Wikipedia. I've nominated Climate Group for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Climate Group. Nsaa (talk) 23:45, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your inputs. I think the Climate Group is notable enough to warrant a Wikipedia entry. I'll take another crack at it - things have also changed with the Group since I last attempted to edit the page to make a more appropriate entry, so I may just start again, but this time I will work from a document that I save in a separate place in case the PR people change it again, and if they persist I shall as you suggested seek dispute resolution or page protection, as I have in the past asked the people to join in the discussion but they have not done so (they just make changes and run away!).
