- Note: Upon further review, it seems this user was upset that I had tagged one of their articles for speedy deletion. This was not immediately evident because both his and my edits had been deleted, and therefore could not easily be accessed. EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 05:44, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

- Well that was great...you beat me to the last one...I was almost done and it told me someone edited it. Drat. Haha. It was nice working with you; best of luck on future edits! Ask me any time if you need help with anything! --Jared [T]/[+] 01:47, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi EWS23, you didn't get my email? Oh well. It was just telling you that I was blocked because my friend the "vandaliser" was on before me, and he got blocked. So, when I logged in and tried to edit something, I was blocked too. Somebody told me that you have to clear your browser cache. How on earth do you do that? Anyways, everything's okay now, I just didn't edit anything on Wikipedia for a couple of days, and now everything is fine. That's just what your email was about. But can you please answer my question? How do you clear your browser cache? 24.81.3.173 02:21, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Sorry
[edit]Oh No! I'm so sorry EWS23! Did I just forget to log in and sign my comment with my own name instead of my friend's IP address? Anyways, incase you're wondering, that message was from me. (I'm over at my friend's house right now.) And Yeah. In case you're wondering which message, it's the one with the subject of Email. --Abbopa 02:26, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Eric, thanks for the information. I tried googling "clearing your browser cache" and it did give me some information. Also, just in case you weren't clear on what happened, my friend got blocked, and when I decided that it was my turn to go on Wikipedia. So, I logged in, and I was reading this article, and found a spelling mistake, that a lot of people spell wrong. Anyways, I wanted to edit it, but because my friend was on before me, the computer was too used to "his settings" and when I tried to edit the article, it would not let me because I think the computer thought that we were the same person, and that I had not logged on. Very confusing story. Anyway, have a nice day! --Abbopa 02:20, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Harry Potter and the half-baked plot summary
[edit]Hi EWS,
Thanks for your message. Yes, a PROD would work better, of course. My mentioning of AFD is out of habit. :-) --Deathphoenix ʕ 14:48, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
I saw your comments on this page's talk page. During the same time, I browsed through the extra article at Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Summary and managed to squeak a concept or two out of this to merge into the main page, but it was almost entirely info that we already had. I wasn't sure about the procedure for that extra page; it doesn't seem to meet WP:CSD, but can it be speedied anyway under WP:IAR or WP:UCS? Or should we just WP:PROD it? Well, thanks for all your help, and let me know what will be done with this page so I can continue to learn policy in borderline cases like this. EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 05:46, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- As the pages is copied verbatim from the Harry Potter wiki, I think it should be deleted. I was considering using WP:IAR to speedy it, but i neglected to. I think, for now, WP:PROD would be the best way to go. However, if you think another way would be better, be bold and go ahead with it. -Greg Asche (talk) 15:12, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Your welcomes
[edit]I've found it easier to welcome people by making my welcome into a template that I can just subst and sign. You may wish to consider it for yours as well, and if you need help, just click my "88." Jfingers88 05:57, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your suggestion for my welcomes. I like to use copy-paste for my welcomes so that I can customize them as the case calls for it. For example, I may change one of the lines to read something like, "I see you've started contributing to basketball articles, which is one of my great interests as well," so that it can be more personal. Thanks for your suggestions, though, and feel free to make similar suggestions in the future- there are many things I know little to nothing about, and always welcome new ideas. Adding new articles
[edit]Why is it that when I enter "Saison Dupont" it offers me the opportunity to create a page, but it does not offer the same opportunity when I just enter "Saison"? I mean, "Saison Dupont" has already been deleted before I was active on this site, so I figured I would write a more broad based genereal interest article, but it is not possible. Sometimes, Wikipedia seems maliciously capricious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Naerhu (talk • contribs)
- Thanks for your message. You should be able to create an article at any valid name. However, it appears we already have an article on Saison. As for other articles where it doesn't immediately give you the "edit page" when you search, what you need to do is look at the very top left corner of the page where it says, "You searched for "Saison" ". If you click that link, it should either take you to the page or take you to the creation page. Let me know if this doesn't work for you. Thanks again for your message, and always feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 17:24, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

- Hey EWS23, for a little context, I think this editor is referring to a rollback I did to these edits, but because you left a message for the editor first, thought that you'd left subsequent messages or rolled back his edits or something. JDoorjam Talk 15:52, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

- Mr. Inoue,
- Thank you very much for your response. I am not an expert on copyright issues, so I am currently attempting to contact another Wikipedia contributor who may be able confirm that you can release these rights and allow Wikipedia to redistribute this information. Once that is confirmed, we can put the information back on the page. Please keep an eye on this page, as I may have other contributors contact you soon. Thank you again for your time.

- Mr. Inoue,
- I have found some information for you. There are two things you can do to help us put this information on Wikipedia. First, you can send an email from an address associated with the original publication to ( permissions at wikimedia dot org ) or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation stating that you allow Wikipedia to use this information. Secondly, if you want this to be easier in the future, you can make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL at the site of the original publication. In the meantime, I will restore your edits an post your message to me on the Eric Carle discussion page. Thank you very much for your time, and let me know if you have any further questions or comments.

Question
[edit]Hi Eric, it's me, Abbie! Sorry, I haven't been keeping in touch with any Wikipedians, because I went away to Japan for 3 weeks, and forgot to bring my laptop. Anyways, I met a person there who was a Wikipedian, but stopped going on Wikipedia for the last 2 years. She said that you can edit from a blocked account. From what I've tried, you can't do that. Is what she said true? --Abbopa 20:43, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- No, it is not true that you can edit from a blocked account. When your account or IP address is blocked, the only thing you can edit is your User talk page. This allows people to communicate with the administrator who blocked them, just in case there was some mistake in the block or they wish to explain their edits, etc. For more information on this topic, see WP:Block. Thanks again for your messages. EWS23 | (Leave me a message!) 00:54, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Yet another question
[edit]Eric, We've never met, but you seemed friendly and I wondered if you could help me out. I wanted to get more involved in counter vandalism. I wondered if you could offer me any advise or perhaps if you had time to check some of my recent (rv)'s to let me know if I'm on the right track. Thanks so much. mmeinhart 02:58, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

No problem...
[edit]No problem if it is correct which way the air flows, but I am fairly sure about which way the air flows, but I suppose a conflict can come from which perspective one has. Are you seeing the [[Coriolis effect] from above it or from below it? --OrbitOne talk 05:22, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
Reply
[edit]Hi Eric, Thanks for answering my question. I kind of had a feeling that you couldn't edit from a blocked page, but I just wanted to make sure. Ever since I've joined Wikipedia, I've met some other Wikipedians that tell me all kinds of stuff about Wikipedia. And some is just not true. Of course, being a Wikipedian for not even a year, I certainly don't know everything about Wikipedia. So, it's always good to check just to make sure, isn't it? --Abbopa 02:15, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
P.S My friend, the one who always went vandalising people's work has stopped vandalising for the longest time, ever since he got blocked! That's good news, but I hope it lasts.

My User Page
[edit]Hi Eric, I was just asking because someone else told me that my user page doesn't sound like it's actually MY user page. (Don't worry, everything on there is true!!) Do you think that my user page sounds like it belongs to someone else?Abbopa 01:30, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Why Abbopa
[edit]hi Eric
It all started when I was in grade 7. Before grade 7, I was always known as Rodini. (Yeah, I know. It's a strange name. Don't you think?) Anyways, this weird kid in my class kept getting me confused with a girl named Abbigale Richards. (By the way, my nick name was Rodi.) We were best friends, Abbigale and I. Abbigale was always known around her house with the name Abbopa. At school, I always called her Abbie. So, the weird kid would call me Abbie, and Abbigale would be called Rodi. That just kind of stuck. So, we were forever "confused". (Although everyone knew who we actually were.) I kept in touch with the real Abbie until she moved to Tokyo with her husband, and 1 month old son. Now, I don't know if she moved or not, or is still in Tokyo. Anyways, I hope all is going well for you too! If you have any questions (that isn't really the full story, but I had to get off the computer, because my friend was at the door. You're free to ask me for the full story. Or just some more of it.) Abbopa 02:29, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
