Question about your recent edits

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed that you've added a lot of archive URL links to man.co.uk. If you don't mind me asking, is this part of a class project or something? It just looks a little strange when someone joins Wikipedia and starts adding a bunch of links to the same site, so I'd like to get a better idea of what's going on. creffett (talk) 14:10, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I undertook these edits as part of a concerted effort with University of Manchester Library (UML) staff to add links to Green Open Access sources when a wiki cites articles or reviews produced by one of our researchers. As the Open Access team, we are trying to make it easier for people outside academia to find and read academic research themselves. I hope this is okay! Yes, that's fine. It was just a little concerning to see several accounts pop up at the same time and all start adding links to the same place, but now that you (and a couple other editors in the same boat) explained the situation, I don't see any issues. I would recommend mentioning your affiliation with that team on your user page just for the sake of openness. Thanks for your work, and happy editing! creffett (talk) 16:22, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
