Sorry for the late response. Hello there Dylan, and welcome to the tropical cyclone Wikiproject! The biggest rule of the project, which I'm sure you'll follow, is that you have interest in tropical cyclones. We're all people who are connected by their joint interest of hurricanes and Wikipedia. I noticed that your note to me appeared well-written and thought out. From that, I hope I am correct in assuming that you can write well. That is the second most important rule of the project, and perhaps of Wikipedia in general. We are all here working to build a free encyclopedia. That is why we hope and expect the members to write well. If you can do that, then you're ahead of the game.

I am writing this away from a stable internet connection, so I wasn't able to look at your user pages. However, I'm wondering if you would consider writing on the mainspace more often (ideally exclusively to the mainspace, but we wouldn't want to take your fun away ;) ). I'll be honest, the project is currently lacking in writers, and I am willing to help you get used to writing in the mainspace. I'm curious, do you have a preference in the storms that you would be writing on? Do you prefer newer, older, relatively recent storms? Do you prefer Atlantic, Pacific, or elsewhere? We have over 1000 articles, and some are better covered than others.

Hi Dylan620; welcome to the WPTC! I see somebody replied to your copyright question on my talk page. First off, you should do as I did when I first joined Wikipedia and the WPTC alike: read some featured articles, such as Hurricane John (2006), so you'll be ready to write a quality article once Norbert comes around. That said, you might also want to peek at the project page and its sub-pages, to learn about the Tropical cyclones WikiProject, as a whole.

Regarding your fake hurricane seasons, while it seems interesting, I'm not sure I see the necessity of it. I suppose Rocko's Modern Life could be nominated for a GAC. It may need some reorganization - but what you could do is nominate it as a dry run and see what the reviewer says. Then when the reviewer states which changes need to be made, you could do that.

If you have access to Lexis-Nexis, EBSCOHost, or other academic databases you can use them to obtain more sources. WhisperToMe (talk) 20:36, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

• It's not an official Wikipedia term, but I mean it as a way to test to see what the article needs before it can become a GA. Often articles in submission are put on hold when the reviewer wants some time for problems to be corrected before the article can gain GA status. Anyhow, I would first ensure that the article indeed more or less meets Wikipedia:Good article criteria guidelines, then I would nominate and see what else needs to be done. BTW if the image was made by you, and as long as it doesn't actually depict a fictional character it should be uploaded to commons.wikimedia.org - Make your EN.wikipedia account global so it also belongs to the commons.
