Hello Jossi,

Thank you for your input. I have to say, it could be very easy to educate contributors by simplying having a page that presents in the 1st column the mark-up codes/symbols, and in the 2nd column, what they are used for, and in the 3rd column comments or links to Wikpedias verbose and barely understandable directions. In their effort to educate contributors, Wikipedia is actually burying in the very ambiguity they are tying to prevent.

I have read the citations page a couple of times and still don't know how to post a citation.

P.S. I thought your honest and straight forward background bio was great. Will keep you in mind as I work through the process.

Thanks, DxthomDxthomDxthom

OK Jossi, Here's a question.

I posted a Biography for a Richard L. Ballard. When I search for Richard L Ballard or Richard Ballard, his name does not appear. In fact, I am asked if I want to create a new article.

Should I just copy and past the same biography under each name??

Thanks, Dxthom

Wikipedia has a system to redirect pages which you can use for variants on the name of an entry. *Never* duplicate articles. See WP:REDIRECT. You may also want to read WP:BIO which is Wikipedia's guideline about biographies, as I'm not quite sure this Richard L. Ballard meets the requirements there. Thanks Equendil,

I am now confused where I place the redirect??? My goal: "search" Richard Ballard, Go/Search > Richard L. Ballard. Where do I place the redirect script??

Thanks, Dxthom

Hi, Dxthom! You'll want to create a new article called Richard Ballard, and in its text, place the following: #REDIRECT[[Richard L. Ballard]]
Hope that helps! -- Merope Talk 23:12, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Richard L. Ballard

[edit]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Richard L. Ballard, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Richard L. Ballard. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached..--Duncan 15:31, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Theory-based Semantics

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Theory-based Semantics, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? --Bsnowball (talk) 04:58, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
