A bug
This program does not seem to be working--for several days it has failed to parse -- not just some entries, but the entire list.DGG 02:37, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for reporting. That was indeed due to a bug in the software that made the bot not reading correctly the "dated prod" templates in the articles. This one should be fixed now. Let me know if you see other problems with this list: I periodically take a look at it, but not being a prod patroller I do not check it every day. Tizio 12:33, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Why?
Does someone have an explanation about how could this thing help Wikipedia? A.Z. 07:52, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wrong page: this is a list of articles, the explanation is given in WP:PROD. Tizio 13:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK, thank you. A.Z. 18:08, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
London amora
I have removed the tag placed on London amora the entry for which I agree was a blatant advertisement. I am attempting to turn it into a useful article. --Drappel 21:41, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- That entry is almost ok (apart from the definition; don't use the definition given by marketing people). In general, the best place to explain why you removed the prod tag is the talk page of the article. Tizio 11:45, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Differnces between timestamp and edit time
In some cases, the reason for such a difference is because of vandalism+revert. For example, with Ashlee Simpson's Third Album, the {{prod}} tag was added at the time stated in the prod timestamp. 15 hours later the page was replaced with the line Please post information here about the third album of Ashlee Simpson., just to be reverted immediately by a bot. If there was a column where such reasons could be placed by users, and then DumbBOT would retain these reasons later, this can make the information in the table more useful. Od Mishehu 07:31, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Would that be really worth the effort? There are not so many "date mismatch" entries on average, and the cases like the ones you mention are generally easy to spot looking at the history of the article. Adding a column that the bot retains opens the way to vandalism of this page, and that would be hard to revert after a bot update. Tizio 11:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi, the article AS Roma 2007-08 is not usourced and is not doubled... it 'is just the beginning of the season so there isn't yet a lot to write, but when the season will go on, it will be more or less like AS Roma 2006-07. I've removed the template of the deletion and I think that this article shouldn't be deleted. Regards --Gaúcho 19:44, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- This isn't the place to contest PRODs, this is a summary of the existing PRODs as of the last update time. To contest a PROD, remove the tag from the article, using a reasonable edit summary. Od Mishehu 06:49, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
broken?
Is PRODSUM broken? There're no new listings since August 20. 70.55.87.43 06:12, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, temporarily out of action c. 20 to 30 August 2007. See User_talk:DumbBOT#PRODSUM_broken.3F, and continue the discussion there. Meanwhile, use category:Proposed deletion. - Fayenatic (talk) 13:38, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
{{prod2}}
Please fix the bot so that the {{prod2}} template doesn't cause pages to appear in the lower sections of the page. Od Mishehu 12:55, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- I dunno, it's kinda useful for seeing who's mistakenly subst'd the prod2 template --Closedmouth (talk) 13:59, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
PROD pages with previous deletions
I think there should be a section on the page for "PROD pages with previous deletions". This section should include the following information:
- number of deletions
- the deleting admin in the most recent deletion
- Reason for deletion in the most recent deletion
עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 09:53, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, this could be useful, to some extent. I don't have much time now, unfortunately. Tizio 15:40, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
The date mismatch table
There's something seriously wrong with that. --Closedmouth (talk) 08:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- I reported it here. --UsaSatsui (talk) 17:25, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
broken?
is prodsum broken? the last update is from Wed 19 Mar 2008. 70.51.8.110 (talk) 06:55, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Reason should have wikilinks coloned
If a category wikilink winds up in the Reason: filed, it winds up putting the ProdSummary page in that category. Consider adding a : before Category. I think it's harmless to do this for all WikiLinks, e.g., change
- 15 June 02:54 || Jimmy the Greek (restaurant) || no sources to indicate this company meets the notability requirements of WP:CORP
to
- 15 June 02:54 || Jimmy the Greek (restaurant) || no sources to indicate this company meets the notability requirements of WP:CORP
Note: The change is invisible unless you view the source. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 17:25, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Strange. I believed I already make this change to categories, but perhaps I did that for a different script. I will implement this change, perhaps next week. Tizio 16:49, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, should be done now. Every link is now preceeded by `:'. Tizio
Redirects
Any way to have the bot tell you when there's a redirect on the same page as a prod? That would help things out. --UsaSatsui (talk) 16:48, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- This is possible, but how could this be of help exactly? Tizio 21:27, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Because prod isn't supposed to be used on redirects. Finding such prods would help in removing them, or the bot could do it itself even. --UsaSatsui (talk) 01:55, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Prodsum has stopped working again
Only complete through Wed., Jan. 14. (and has a good deal of the 15th also). The only way to check at the moment is by using the daily categories from Category:Proposed deletion, the listing of all articles currently proposed for deletion. DGG (talk) 18:29, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed. The problem was trivial (cable connection). It was unfortunate I could not fix the problem before. Tizio 14:17, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Stopped working (again) Feb 13, 2009
Seems like there's another bug, probably with the lastest MediaWiki update (seems to be causing a lot of problems around the wiki, for example breaking Twinkle). The last update to the list was the 13th. Firestorm (talk) 20:26, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- Damn, this is a very useful tool :) -- lucasbfr talk 10:13, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- It is, because surprisingly, a lot of people don't know the difference between CSD and PROD. Probably 40% of prodded articles are uncontroversial deletion candidates under CSD A7 (non-notable person, organization, band, or web content) or G11 (blatant advertising). Its trivially easy to run through them, look at the prod reason, and tag them for CSD, getting uncontroversial candidates out of the way quicker. previous comment by Firestorm Talk 14:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC) continued below: "Also, some..."
- On the other hand, I've turned a fair number of A7s to PRODs or AFDs. The application of A7 is one of the least "non-controversial" criteria: If given 100 random non-notable PRODs and 100 random A7s, and you told 100 editors to say whether they met the A7 criteria, there would probably be dozens of the 200 where a significant number of editors would disagree on the "does this qualify for A7" question. There's almost no risk of harm waiting for a notability-related PROD to expire, but there is a significant risk of harm in mistakenly speedying something. PROD gives people time to dig dead-tree or subscription-only sources and establish notability that might not be obvious from free online sources. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 18:06, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Also, some articles are prodded when they really shouldn't be, so being able to see a reason next to its entry helps decide if it should be contested and/or listed at AFD. Firestorm Talk 14:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
BLP PROD
Now that Wikipedia:Proposed deletion of biographies of living people has been marked as policy, and Category:BLP articles proposed for deletion is being populated will those articles get listed here? Phil Bridger (talk) 21:05, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

The new changes to the prod template have broken this list again. Kind of annoying. --Closedmouth (talk) 11:24, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

PRODSUM is broken yet again. It hasn't been updated in two days now. JIP | Talk 06:54, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think the problem could be a blackout or a network cable. If so, the bot will resume operation on monday.109.116.139.99 (talk) 12:10, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- It's now Monday and PRODSUM is still broken. It hasn't been updated in five days now. JIP | Talk 07:59, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I think it's fixed now. There should be another temporary stop tomorrow morning, but I do not think the bot will miss more than two updates. I have also fixed the problems with the new template formats, so unless the templates change again there should be not further problems. Tizio 15:47, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
