Speedy deletion of Majorityworld.com
[edit]A tag has been placed on Majorityworld.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Peripitus (Talk) 14:45, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
It is true that Majority World is the name of an agency. However it also represents a philosophy and an ethos that his growing in parts of the world that have largely been neglected. It also challenges a political position that has demeaned large sections of humankind. The term has now entered mainstream lexicon and is increasingly used in both academic and professional circles. I shall be happy to provide examples of such use.
A tag has been placed on Majorityworld.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ŵïllî§ï$2 (Talk!/Cont.) 15:40, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Majorityworld.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:47, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:Shahidul Alam portrait 7263 300 pixel.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Shahidul Alam portrait 7263 300 pixel.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:11, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
The photograph was taken by one of my students. I presume he is the one who uploaded it. I could try and locate the photographer, but would be happy to replace it with another where the copyright details are known. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahidul001 (talk • contribs) 06:20, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Shahidul Alam?
[edit]- Is Shahidul Alam your name? Founder of drik gallery? - Rahat | Message 03:37, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Yes, this is the same Shahidul Alam. This is the first time I'm using this chat option, so not sure if this is how I am meant to respond. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahidul001 (talk • contribs) 03:52, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Nice to meet you sir. I have contacted you to find some free images for the article of Bangladesh liberation war. I knew that Drik currently holds the copyright of most of the images of Bangladesh liberation war. We want to create a photo-montage for the infobox of the article of Bangladesh liberation war like we have in many other articles such as World War II, Vietnam War etc. But we need some freely licensed images with explicit permission to use them in the article. Could you please help us in this regard? - Rahat | Message 04:54, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
I notice that on the page you mention, the photographer is not even credited. As a matter of policy we do not work with people who do not acknowledge the contribution of artists. Please see my statement (in Bangla) in: http://drik.net/calendars/calendar96/intro.htm — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahidul001 (talk • contribs) 06:23, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have tagged the photo you mentioned with a "speedy deletion" tag. Please notice that it was not my or Wikipedia's fault that the photographer was not credited. user:Rossi101 uploaded that image declaring it his/her own work, You should contact with the uploader when you see such copyright violations and tag the image with {{db-imgcopyvio}}. - Rahat | Message 06:38, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Also remember Wikipedia is editable by anyone, when you see any file without acknowledgement of author/photographer you can add the name of the author by editing the file description page or tag it for speedy deletion if it violets copyright. - Rahat | Message 08:21, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:15, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
