Ireland project
[edit]Dreamer 84, I've been recommended to speak to you, as you may be able to help with something. I'm trying to locate or create a template to use for the Ireland rail project
I've never created a template myself, you're better off asking User:Dreamer84 as he seems to have contributed in this area. If you want to have a crack yourself, have a look at Help:A quick guide to templates then follow the links to the more complicated explanations. I guess one way to go about creating an Irish template would be just to put a copy of the UK one in your sandbox and then adapt it to Ireland, working on the basis of trial and error. Historical rail starts/inserts
[edit]Hey Stewart. I noticed while doing a revert on Newton (South Lanarkshire) railway station that you altered the layout of the Historical rail boxes, specifically removing the 'Caledonian Railway' tag from all but one of the lines, and for the remaining one swapping it round so 'Hamilton Branch' is the bigger text rather than CR. Just wondering if there was a reason for this change? I'm not really bothered which way round they go, but I do think we should keep them all the same. Up until now I'd always been doing mine like this:

- The pale colour for NBR was achieved by added "2" to each digit of the company colour to make it lighter.
- Reviewing what I have previously done, it has been a bit inconsistent. Motherwell railway station is also in a similar to Newton, although I have used the "faded" colour for the CR. Some consistency is defintely required, and I have not be too consistent in my work. --Stewart (talk) 19:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Whilst your on the subject, down in England, some pages have been reverting the disused/closed stations to their BR regions rather than great western railway etc, in the boxes and infoboxes. now, possibly the infoboxes could be adapted to include the pregrouping, original, postgrouping AND British Rail region, could that also not be done for the infoboxes of the stations that are open? and Which colours are used for which, as it's confusing to use the green synonymous with the Southern Railway, on an area most definately Great Western Railway —Preceding unsigned comment added by Halowithhorns89 (talk • contribs) 16:06, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

I created Template:Infobox Ireland station with little problems, it was just adapting it to Ireland, swappig a few words, but when i tried to incorporate it into Athy railway station, it just got mixed up with the other template and looked a mess to be frank. Kerelaw
[edit]Hi Dreamer. I only got really interested after meeting a very enthusiastic local at a Fund raising course who was trying to get NAC to look after old Kerelaw. His group had already re-opend various paths, etc. I was trying to aid his/their efforts. I had some dealings in the past with the old Kerelaw school folk - they were also trying to improve the paths, etc. Good point about the use of the various 'Kerelaw' names. The name Cunninghame is a real trial. One reference (Dobie I think) states that different branches of the family deliberately adopted different spellings. I would stick with 'Cunninghame'. If you are going to take more photographs I will leave it up to you - I will explore anyway. I gather that Robert McAlpine lived at Kerelaw House whilst he was building the Caledonian railway line passed Ardrossan Academy, etc.Rosser (talk) 01:16, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

You have changed the name of this article without providing a reference for the name change. It would be helpful if you could do this as I have never heard it refered to as Dalry and North Johnstone Line whilst Kilbarchan Loop (and Lochwinnoch Loop to a lessor extent) are terminology I have heard of. --Stewart (talk) 16:52, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

- See the talk page for my reasons. I shouldn't have been as hasty with the change I admit. As for the Lochwinnoch page, I had never liked the "(second)" tag even when I originally wrote it, but couldn't think of an alternative. - I am biased as I used to live in Kilbarchan at the time the line was lifted (and the bricking up of the station ramps - reopened when the cycle route was established). [edit]Hello Dreamer. I was having a close look at the 'railway related' building at Millburn Drive end & came across a few pieces of very old railway track. It differs by being much more squat than the typical railway track, also a lighter construction.
