Miles
[edit]The main reason I changed your figures in Flight Unlimited II was both the capitalization and the fact that the conversion from square nautical miles to square statute miles was wrong; 13,400 square nautical miles is not 15,400 square statute miles, but rather 17,700 square statute miles. You converted it as a length rather than as an area. But then I also figured that square kilometers would be more useful than square statute miles, so I omitted the latter. I don't really care if someone else adds them back in, just watch it to see that its correct, okay? Gene Nygaard 13:48, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- No worries, I figure kilometres is better now as mainly only america uses them (miles, that is). And thanks for picking up on the grammatical error.--DooMDrat 13:53, Mar 17, 2005 (UTC)

[edit]You had to be right about the Rise of the Triad God Mode effect, didn't you? One of my personal pet peeves is people editing articles incorrectly... and I was briefly offended that you edited out the description... until I looked at my old ROTT literature. I don't like realizing I'm wrong... so knock it off ;) Scumbag 01:47, Apr 1, 2005 (UTC)
PS: Apologies in advance if I ever edit a Looking Glass Studios game article in a way that cheeses you off - too many of 'em get written by Uberfans of the game. Part of my "thing" on Wikipedia is editing these writings to be more realistic in regards to what normal or casual gamers thought of the games in question, and such edits tend to cheese off uberfans.
A quick thanks

Nice Work!
[edit]I can barely begin to catch up with all the games work you have put in here. So thanks for that! Seamus Blackey had a life beyond Looking Glass - most all those folks have gone on to do important things in the game industry, so they're worth keeping track of. Nice to be working with you to track that! JustinHall 21:40, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Jets'n'Guns
[edit]Hey, DooMDrat, i guess i saved a lot of work for you. I added a lot of contents to Jets'n'Guns, so it's not a stub anymore. However, you still need to add a picture. Elitejeff123 15:28, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Now that you've added a picture, I see no reason for it to stay on your "stubs or not far past stubs" page. Also, thanks for making good edits for what I added. Elitejeff123 17:36, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Just curious as to why you think there's a problem with providing links to their song files. It's not exactly a problem providing direct links when you can just as easily go to their site and download the songs from the exact same URLs. They've got them hosted on a powerful server for a reason. -D14BL0 11:58, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
Could you write the articles for each of the characters in The Strangerhood? --68.72.125.65 17:40, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- While Wikipedia is not paper, The Strangerhood is not anywhere near popular enough yet, nor the characters fleshed out enough to truly justify a seperate page for the characters, let alone pages for each character. Case in point, it wouldn't happen for Red vs Blue (unless, perhaps, the article got too long), and that has a lot more episodes, is a lot more popular, and has seen 3 commercial DVD releases.--DooMDrat 01:06, August 19, 2005 (UTC)
Computer game characters
[edit]Hi there! I appreciate your effort at cleaning out articles on minor characters from computer games. However, rather than nominating them for deletion, might I suggest that you simply merge them into a suitable 'parent' article or list, such as the article on the game itself? Please see WP:FICT and WP:BOLD for some background information, and Wikipedia:Merge if you need instructions on how to do that. Yours, Radiant_>|< 12:10, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me.--DooMDrat 12:16, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
Doom monsters
[edit]Hey there, you might want to use an edit summary of "merging to doom enemies" or whatever when you do this, otherwise it just looks like you're blanking the pages. Alphax τεχ 12:34, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
- Whoops, sorry! It's just that I wanted to get it over and done with, instead of constantly switching between copy/pasted wikicode and edit summary. I should have thought to bring up all the Doom monster articles at once, paste the redirect code in each, then paste "Redirecting to Doom enemies" in each, THEN saved them. Much easier that way.--DooMDrat 12:39, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
Sorry to side with that rude anon but i added back in the merge to templates for the remaining doom monsters. Anon does have a point that some of those minor monsters should not have their own article while the cyberdemon a notable character doesnt. perhaps the cyberdemon can be moved to its own article to reduce the size of the list leaving behind {{Main|Cyberdemon}} on the list page, and then moving in the last few non-notable monsters into the main list? Removal of links on RollerCoaster Tycoon
[edit]Could you please justify the removal of the link to New Element on the RollerCoaster Tycoon page? If the other fan sites are allowed to be on this list, New Element should be as well, as it is one of the most active parkmaking RCT communities. --Sb2k4 12:21, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
- I guess it was a bit of a kneejerk reaction, but the description screamed spamlink. I realise that half of that description was added by a recent IP user, but even the version used up until before that was suspect: "A site with players who create the best parks possible using the software". POV. That Coastermasters link description isn't much better. Put the New Element link back, but with an NPOV description.--Drat (Talk) 14:52, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
CraftingWorlds.com
[edit]Ok as you said A PET PROJECT.. well here are links to notable people who link to my site and work to make it not just MY PROJECT but something that has a large fan base and people recognize for it's notoriety.. gawd thats a horrible sentence lol. First let me link you to the link from warcraft.com which shows how Craftingworlds created the FIRST ever machinima based movie from their game: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/community/anniversaries/year1timeline.html "I surrender" is my movie. For all other awards and accomplishments please refer to this page: http://www.craftingworlds.com/studio/?cat=18 I will also be featured in gaming magazines such as Comptuer GAming World and PC Gaming UK in the next month for the movie located here: http://www.craftingworlds.com/savemurlocs/ All which are under my logo title name whatever, kinda like rooster teeth I am Crafting Worlds. Do a google search for Tristan Pope or Crafting Worlds and you will see it is not just a simple name, and I believe it deserves its own page. Thank you for your time. i hope you see why I made it now and will allow it to be posted. 06:03, 23 December 2005 (UTC)06:03, 23 December 2005 (UTC)TheGodfather Ahh ok thanks

CraftingWorlds.com Addition
[edit]Ok see that makes more sense. And yes i know Paul Marino. no need to bold it :P I was there for the awards and all that stuff. Got selected for screenings no awards :p but hey what can ya do. But What can i add in order to have craftingworlds as a notable production team?
P.S.And as for the first ever STORY LINED user movie, that IS a FACT. Trust me. I was in closed beta when I made it. But no need in arguing that as it is a minute fact.
Machinima
[edit]Was it because I didnt make the article? I just made it, so if that's the only reason could you tell me, and Ill put it back.
EDIT- By the way, that page says it's for all Machinima series. I don't really see what the problem was with mine.

List of anti-heroes
[edit]I just want to inform you that the article List of anti-heroes was deleted today after being listed on VfD. I am not sure if you knew it was listed or not, or if you care or not. I felt, since you had participated as a contributor on the article that you should know. If you want to know more about the status of the now deleted article, I have made a post in Wikipedia:Deletion review. If you don't want to know more, please disregard this message. sincerely, Kingturtle 21:41, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Xbox 360 Pictures
[edit]Thanks, Drat. Those, and every other Xbox 360 pic uploaded by me, were taken from Paul Thurrott's Xbox 360 Showcase and his preview galleries there. But, and I must stress this, they are not his pictures. They are fair use promotional pictures, distributed by Microsoft. I saw them there and thought that Wikipedia might benefit from them, being as the pictures then in the article were of poor quality and badly named (e.g. changed from XBOX360wirelesscontroller0601.jpg to X360_Controller.png). I transferred them to PNG to give Firefox users the advantage of transparency (which sadly doesn't make any difference to IE at all), and cleaned a few up as best I could. This was in the relatively early days of my Photoshop work, though, and I admit that the technique is not at all great. You can find the originals (or my originals at least) in his X360 showcase galleries. He in turn probably got them from a Microsoft Press promotional pack. —Vanderdecken∴∫ξφ 16:23, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Greetings. I saw you on TTLG, and after reading your userpage I thought you might be interested in this little userbox I have on my page:
Happy editing! -- grm_wnr Esc 04:21, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- The symbols are the Kanji for Sho Dan, the dan rank. I thought of using the ol' SHODAN picture, but as you know fair use pictures don't really fly well in userboxes, and I like to have something a little different in the ID section of a userbox ;) -- grm_wnr Esc 04:29, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hm, I'm not really a fan of the huge number of userbox templates... I think they're becoming too many to manage, so I won't create this one myself. But if you think it'll be useful to others, feel free to create {{User SHODAN}} with the contents above. -- grm_wnr Esc 04:55, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
"The Many"
[edit]I was going by Wikipedia:Naming conventions (definite and indefinite articles at beginning of name), which advises aganist using "the" at the beginning of titles unless it's a work. If it is actually referred to as "The Many", with a capital letter for "the" and always referred to as "The Many", like The Cheat, then I'll try to fix my mistake. ' (Feeling chatty? ) (Edits!) 20:40, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Other Rooster Teeth cleanup
[edit]Good luck with tomorrow. I might be able to help in cleaning up PANICS, but I've only seen a few episodes of The Strangerhood. Though I also imagine that we'll be busy incorporating RvB episode 73 infomation. -- TKD 10:22, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Over the Counter-Strike
[edit]My initial inclination would be not to AfD the main OTCS article itself. It only gives about 524 hits on Google, some of which are false positives, but it seems to be the most (only?) even somewhat noteworthy example of Counter-Strike machinima.
As for the Holman article, my thought would be to merge information that isn't in the main OTCS article already in to there and leave "Jameson Holman" as a redirect. In fact, I'm wondering whether the RT crew member articles should be merged into Rooster Teeth Productions. -- TKD 11:05, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Doom Links
[edit]I'm curious as to why the Definitive Doom Links was dismissed as "linkspam", whilst the inclusion of the ODP's comparatively small listing is perfectly acceptable in the Doom WAD article. - DooMAD 12:42, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Fair use ratrionales
[edit]Fair use rationales have been added for the other two Red vs Blue posters. Out of curiosity, are you working on the extra episodes guide? I saw that you removed 28.5. Oh, and thanks for cleaning up the episode names. -- TKD 11:10, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Trap door
[edit]I changed 1 & 7 to jpg. How much will the whole page be now? I just read image use policy and i should indeed be using jpgs, i just dont like the lossy resize i see artifacts now, but ill switch them all over to jpgs if the total size will end up drastically smaller than 640k. Discordance 00:42, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Thats ok i can convert them to jpg myself, i went for 100% quality because i really dont like lossy formats, im just debating with myself whether to use 95 or 100. Im probably going to go with 100 out of principle Discordance 02:28, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Can you give me ball park figures for the whole page of 40 scaled images in 95% and 100%? I'm not sure how to work it out myself and its something id like to know, if 100% is bigger than png i suppose ill get on with converting to 95%. Discordance 02:43, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to sleep on it now but the artifacts are really bugging me. List of South Park episodes is a featured list and its full of gifs, its possibly 1MB of images to download? no idea exactly and there havnt been any complaints on loading it, in fact a user on dial-up said he had absolutely no problem loading it. The only list where ive seen images loads become really problematic is List of The Simpsons episodes, although a lot of those have been removed recently for lack of fair use rationales, if you want to punish your browser look in the history. I've started a discussion on the image use policy page because in normal articles pngs are most certainly preferable to JPGs, while its a different matter for list articles with lots of pictures http://www.martindalecenter.com/AATimeCalc.html tells me it would take 90 seconds to download 640k on 56Kbps which i dont think is unreasonable considering the noticeable difference in quality. Discordance 04:13, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
"We would much rather people used maximum quality JPGs (for which there will not be any visable quality loss) because we are then able to thumbnail them down to small size for transmission (we must keep things in like formats when we downsize). However, it would be useful to increase our quality setting on thumbnailed jpgs since we do get visable artifacting on the thumbnails of some images. Someday we may allow users to select their own image sizes and jpeg qualities but the way we handle images today won't work for that" is what ive been told on the policy page so far, which helps me understand why the thumbnails look bad, im tempted to upload the pngs for now and wait for them to fix the thumbnailing and then convert to jpgs any thoughts? especially if the thumbnails for 100% jpgs are currently larger than the png thumbnails. Discordance 21:55, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hmm sorry drat this morning the proportions on the list page ended up different, im not sure why, thats why i reverted earlier, i cant see anything wrong with your version now from direct comparison. ill revert back to yours and see if i can spot what was happening on the list page this morning Discordance 17:37, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Sorry i forgot to hit refresh oops i probably shouldnt edit first thing in the morning ive restored your version of the image and the text. Discordance 18:40, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm sure the article is going to end up deleted anyway, but what you did here is probably going to be considered bad form. You readded a deleted prod tag and deleted his attempt at asserting notability, both of which go against the guidelines for proposed deletion, which are that it is only to be used in situations when the deletion is uncontroversial. Chacterizing another editor's additions as "slobbering" is also pretty rude and probably falls under WP:BITE. None of us are perfect, but I'm hoping you don't dig a hole for yourself in the future by doing more of this. Night Gyr 13:29, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Machinima notability guidelines
[edit]Thanks for the notice. I went ahead and added some specifics. Have you considered putting this in the Wikipedia: namespace? I'm not sure what the proper protocol is for submitting policy proposals is, but this could be a useful addition to the notability guidelines, even if machinima is a pretty obscure topic for the time being. — TKD (Talk) 10:29, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Well then, keep in mind whitespace issues occur on screens wider than 1024x768. The gallery also allowed for more pictures to be added.
