GOVERNMENT VILLUPURAM MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL

Governtment Villupuram Medical College and Hospital is an institution started by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 2010 . It is seen as an important development in the district of Villupuram.Its main aim is to help in creating a condusive environment in creation of doctors for the well being of the people and social and community upliftment.

Location

It is situated in a lush green surrounding in the village of mundiyampakkam eight kilometres from the district of Villupuram . It is situated in the Chennai - Tiruchy highway (nh45) at a distance of 154 km from chennai.

Affliation

The college is affliated to the DR.MGR university which belongs to the Government of Tamil Nadu .It is an accredited university by the MCI.

Admission The admission is through the counselling counducted by the DR.MGR medical university based on the 12 standard marks. There is a seperate fifteen percent reservation for the all india quota which candidates get admission based on their aipmt marks.The annual intake is 100. Admission is extremely competitive

Infrastructure for hospital and college

It is a multispeciality hospital with an outpatient ward attached to it. It has a number of facilites which provide good healthcare for the people in and around the district.The college block is also provided with good faciltes . The faculty is comprised of highly qualified teachers. There is a seperate lecutre hall which has a capacity of 400 and a seperate building comprised of three lecture halls with each having a strenght of 120 . There is also a central library which have a large number of books on various topics and it is also well furnished and air coditoined. There is a seperate examination block where the university exams are conducted.

Accomodation

There are seperate hostels for boys and girls with each hostel having a strenght of 250 each. There is a seperate hostel for nurses. All the hostels are well furnished and provided with good facilites. There is also a seperate building which accomodates the resident doctors.

student council

The college has an active student council which has regular meetings with the dean for the upliftment of the institution.
