WikiProject Novels
[edit]Hello, Dozenthey, I just wanted to commend you on your work so far in writing Loss and Gain and The Nemesis of Faith, two very promising 19th century novel articles. I was going to officially "Welcome" you to WikiProject Novels, but I noticed that although you've placed the project's userbox on your page, you haven't added your name to the Members list. I hope you choose to officially join the project, especially since you're doing such great work in a very underrepresented field. Whether or not you join, welcome to Wikipedia! If you have any questions about the inner-workings of Wikipedia, please feel free to ask me. :) María (habla conmigo) 12:33, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to the Novels WikiProject
[edit]Hi, and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books often referred to as "Novels".
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WikiProject_Novels_announcements}} there.
While you are updating your userpage, don't forget our userbox {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Outreach/User WPNOVELS}}. - The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but other methods are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines / template outlines some things to include.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the members, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! – Liveste (talk • edits) 13:28, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to WikiProject Theatre
[edit]Thank you for adding your name to our project membership list! Our goal is to make Wikipedia the the finest, most comprehensive resource of theatre topics available online. As a project member, you might like to introduce yourself on our talk page and maybe add the project membership userbox to your user page.
If you haven't done so already, please add our main project page to your watchlist and browse our page of useful templates. When you have a moment, please take some time to review our article structure guidelines for theatre articles, which give a handy guide to sections you should try to include in articles about theatre. If you would like suggestions about where to start, we've gathered a few suggestions in the Project to do list and in our tasklist.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the project talk page or on my talk page. Again, welcome and happy editing!

I'm so happy to see that you are editing The Last Man! I'm currently working on a Mary Shelley featured topic. I've only just begun. The Mary Shelley article itself is shaping up and I've started gathering bibliographies for all of her works. Would you like to work on The Last Man together? Awadewit (talk) 21:18, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Just let me know when you get back and we can work on the article. Happily, as we say here, "there are no deadlines at Wikipedia"! Awadewit (talk) 15:52, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Would you mind enabling email so that I can send you a message? You can set up an anonymous account if you prefer. Awadewit (talk) 14:25, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- You can enable email under your "Preferences". Awadewit (talk) 16:50, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Mathew Arnold
[edit]Thank you for your addition to the Mathew Arnold page, but I'm not sure if "sage writer" belongs in the first sentence. My concern is two-fold: 1) the term is new and likely to be confusing -- with a plentiful background in literature I would not have read it the way it is defined in the wikipedia article for the term; I had assumed it was an awkward version of the more conventional wisdom writer, a term that sits on Arnold only with great difficulty, and, being a term that Arnold knew, one I have little doubt he would have laughingly rejected; 2) other terms already exist that seem to cover very similar ground: "polemicist" is a much more common term and a term that has been applied, deservedly, to Arnold by a number of his critics.
How many writers have applied the term "sage writer" to Arnold? If it is only one writer, then it might be more appropraite to add a comment later in the article. The article really could use a section on critical response.
Frankly, it seems to me that the argument around "sage writing" is, at present, a little too new and unestablished to warrant its unsupported use as you have it here (and, frankly, in Ruskin and Thoreau articles). Quite honestly, my own reading of Arnold would suggest it is not at all an inapt assessment, but for now it should really appear with Landow's specific assessments of Arnold intact as they are needed for proof that Arnold does indeed belong within this genre and as part of the process of establishing that this may, indeed, be a genre of merit. Mddietz (talk) 16:28, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Please see my response to you on my User Page. Mddietz (talk) 22:08, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Dozenthey, I went ahead today and added a more descriptive comment on sage writing to the Matthew Arnold page. How does it look to you? Mddietz (talk) 17:57, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

James Anthony Froude GA review
[edit]I'm so sorry, Dozenthey, but I added an addendum to my review regarding date/year linking per WP:DATE. I mistakenly wrote that full years need to be linked, but what I meant was full dates; i.e. July 8, 2008, not just 2008. I saw that you had already begun to make corrections based on my stupid mix up, so I'm truly sorry for wasting your time. That will teach me to review articles before I've had my tea. :) Take as long as you need on the article, there's no rush. María (habla conmigo) 17:23, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
WikiProject Novels is currently holding a roll call, which we hope to have annually. Your username is listed on the members list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active within the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:Novels editor, please add your name back to the Active Members list. Also feel free to join any of our task forces and take a look at the project's Job Centre to get involved!
Next month we will begin the coordinator election selection process. We hope to have more involvement and input this time around! More news will be forthcoming. Thanks, everyone! María (habla conmigo) 15:12, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
