Talkback on User talk:MathCool10
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
monobook.js
You should move
/* <pre> */
function welcome() {
// Find the edit box
var txt = document.editform.wpTextbox1;
//The welcome template you are wanting to use
var welcome_msg = 'User:ElectricRush/Welcome'
// The code to be added to the page
var tag = '{{'+'subst'+':'+ welcome_msg +'}}';
// If the edit box doesn't already have this tag...
if (txt.value.indexOf(tag) == -1) {
// Append the tag
txt.value += tag;
// Add an edit summary
document.editform.wpSummary.value = 'Welcome to Wikipedia!';
// Press the Save page button
document.editform.submit();
}
// If the tag was already there, turn the tab background red to indicate
// that the script is functioning properly, but that there is no action
// to do. This doesn't interrupt the user's work like an alert() would.
else {
document.getElementById('ca-unverified').firstChild.style.backgroundColor = "#ff4444";
document.getElementById('ca-unverified').style.backgroundColor = "#ff4444";
}
}
// Create a tab that calls this function when pressed
addOnloadHook(function () {
if(document.title.indexOf("Editing User talk:") == 0) {
addPortletLink('p-cactions', 'javascript:welcome()', 'welcome', 'ca-welcome', 'Adds a welcome note to a new user', '', '');
}
});
/* This is to keep track of who is using this extension: [[User:Nmajdan/welcome_newuser.js]] */
/* </pre> */
to somewhere like User:ElectricRush/Welcome New User.js, then add
importScript('User:ElectricRush/Welcome New User.js');
(or equivalent) to your monobook.js. This way the monobook.js stays cleaner. MathCool10 Sign here! 05:12, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Signature
For your signature, you could add {{subst:User:ElectricRush/Signature}}
or whatever subpage you want for you signature into the signature box in "my preferences," then copy your signature into User:ElectricRush/Signature. This allows you to not have a signature length issue. Keep in mind that signatures should be (at most) 2-3 lines long. Hope you like my suggestion! MathCool10 Sign here! 20:20, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Invitation to join the Science Debate Forum
This invitation you have added to several user talk pages, including mine, is pure spam and not accepted on wikipedia. Please stop. --Bduke (Discussion) 08:00, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. MathCool10 Sign here! 22:49, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- That is not relevant. It is not spam because it was edited to a user talk page, not an article. -electricRush (T C) Sign! 22:50, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

“ | Adding external links to an article or user page for the purpose of promoting a website or a product is not allowed, and is considered to be spam. Although the specific links may be allowed under some circumstances, repeatedly adding links will in most cases result in all of them being removed. - Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming | ” |

Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Vsmith (talk) 02:28, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- Again, I question your relevance. The template was intended to warn users about placing links on articles, not talk pages. For example, it sates, "If you feel the link should be added to the article," which infers the template refers to the adding of links on an article. -electricRush (T C) Sign! 02:31, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
ElectricRush, continue adding your spam to user talk pages and you will be blocked. It's that simple. Additionally, take it out of your signature as it is against our signature guidelines to have external links in a signature. either way (talk) 02:33, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Random image

Is there a way to display a random image, selected from a list of images, every time you visit a page? It would be very helpful for me. Thanks, -download | Sign! 00:54, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know of any particular template that does this but here is the link for randomly accessing freely licensed Wikipedia images http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random/Image and here's the one for random Commons images (all 3,841,889 of them): http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Random/Image Someone better than me at coding would probably be able to make a template that automatically displays the images each time you visit your userpage. I'll leave up the helpme template to see if someone knows of an existing way to do this.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:35, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

- (e/c)x2 Since a lot of people have seen this and not answered, I figured I'd do the next best thing. You'd have to go into your monobook and input the code to do it there - yes, it is possible, I just don't know CSS well enough to tell you how to do it. Not {{tl}}'ing this because it is not really answered. — neuro(talk) 01:37, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- Just a question; if I add the code to my monobook.js, is the random image still visible by other people without the code? Thanks, -download | sign! 01:39, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- I was just wondering about that. A CSS change, I think, would only be for your own display and not allow others to see, which may have been the point.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:42, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
