Explanation
[edit]Hi DonCalo, it is some time I didn't edit the w:Camorra page, and only today I realized you have reverted a number of my edits. Since most part of them were bibliography, I would like to know why you did this, since there is no apparent reason for it. --Ferdinando Scala (talk) 09:17, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
- Now I see. I'm not completely with you in telling that's the right place, nut we'll have time for discussing it. Happy new year 2013!--Ferdinando Scala (talk) 01:37, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
Close paraphrasing in at least two articles
[edit]In Camorra in New York, text you added appears to to have been copied from the cited source. I also checked against one of the book sources and found more copying. This article is now at Wikipedia:Copyright problems.
Furthermore, in Michele Zaza, you wrote:
Cutolo’s NCO became becoming more powerful by encroaching and taking over other group’s territories. The NCO was able to break the circle of traditional power held by the families. Cutolo’s organisation was just too aggressive and violent to be resisted by any individual families. Other Camorra families initially were too weakened, too divided, and simply too intimidated by the NCO. He requested that if other criminal groups wanted to keep their business, they had to pay the NCO protection on all their activities, including a percentage for each carton of cigarettes smuggled into Naples.
This appears to be copied from [1] (see the beginning of p44 as well).
Per the copyright policy, you need to express things in your own words. Please do not copy/paste from your sources. See Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing#How to write acceptable content for some advice regarding this matter. MER-C 13:07, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
"Restored valuable information"
[edit]I just now noticed that you reverted two of my edits to Rosanna Schiaffino with the edit summary of "Restored valuable information." I explained how the poster fails WP:NFCC and in fact has no use rationale on its page for the Rosanna Schiaffino article. I also explained how the navigational template that the article is not listed in fails WP:NAVBOX, goes against the consensus at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film/Archive 41#National cinema navigation templates and in fact is the only actor/actress article that is currently using the Cinema of Italy template. I would like to know what valuable information the poster and the navbox provided? To me, they provide no information about the actress and therefore not appropriate for the article. Aspects (talk) 22:15, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- It has been over three weeks since I left you this message and since you have not responded how the image and/or template provide valuable information and as such I am going to remove them from the article. Aspects (talk) 22:25, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Nicola Barbato, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sicilian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Giuliano, American English
[edit]Greetings. If you go back to check the history of the article, it was begun in U.S. English--not surprising as Giuliano is well known to many Italian-Americans, and other Americans on account of The Sicilian. I'm chauvinistic enough to want to see articles begun by Americans remain in our version of the language. Cheers! Tapered (talk) 05:02, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Reversing my edit on Omerta
[edit]I was just wondering why you reversed my contribution to the Omerta sub-section of [Omerta in] Popular Culture by removing: "Omerta is the fifth track of the Ashes of the Wake album, by American groove metal band Lamb of God. The song begins with the citation of the law of Omerta."
Thanks. Tradereddy (talk) 16:03, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
Giuliano, Vizzini, etc
[edit]Your behavior towards me today has been uncivil, and the huge laundry list of complaints about a good, major, comprehensive rewrite of a mediocre-at-best article was an attack. Your editing--today--has, in my opinion, been mostly POV, and unsubstantiated. I'm stepping back for a day or two. When I come back, when you disagree with me, let's deal in verifiable facts and in logic. And please, let's both be civil. Regards, Tapered (talk) 17:25, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- I appreciate your attempt to rewrite the article on Salvatore Giuliano, and I am sorry if you think I was uncivil. However, I disagree that it is "a good, major, comprehensive rewrite." The laundry list exactly addresses the weaknesses. To assess your own contributions as "good" is a little conceited, don't you think? I think it is a wise decision to step back for some days. I will try to clean up the article, and - who knows - we might even get it to a GA status. - DonCalo (talk) 17:41, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- Fair enough...major, comprehensive, thorough. Guglielmo Shakespeare I ain't. And I set out very clearly my response to the laundry list--receiving no reply. In spite of your politeness, it still seems that you're trying to dismiss the rewrite without addressing my reply. I'd be perfectly amenable to have an impartial arbiter evaluate our relative civility today. Regards. Tapered (talk) 18:44, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
I appreciate the editing you've done after the Lead. You write better than I can imagine doing--I have trouble being concise, especially about Giuliano. I've been reinstating the odd fact here and there--when I think it's useful info. Tapered (talk) 19:40, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
On May 20 in the Talk section of the article, I addressed the issues raised in the "cleanup" box @ Salvatore Giuliano point by point, and invited readers to reply. No reply has been forthcoming. I'm going to remove the "cleanup" box. The valid issues raised have been addressed. Tapered (talk) 22:55, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Unless I'm mistaken, you recently reverted the wrong edit of 'Don Calogero'--check it out. But...the ending of the lead section before I added the reference to Barzini was large-scale weasel wording and public relations for the memory of Vizzini. The language was too laudatory for a lifelong career criminal. Tapered (talk) 03:43, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Re: Edit on Category Mafia women
[edit]Hello,
You left a message on my IP's talk page (User talk:96.49.65.55) regarding apparent vandalism on the page Category: Mafia women. The edit that I made was to remove someone else's apparent vandalism; someone added "MADELEINE OLSON", which I did not believe was associated with the category and did not provide any references that would prove otherwise.
The edit was made by User IP: 109.92.78.182, which can be seen here in the page's edit history. As you can see, my subsequent edit was to undo IP 109.92.78.182's edit.
I do not feel that my edit was an unconstructive edit, but if it is, I would like to ask why so I do not repeat the mistake in the future.
Thank you, 96.49.65.55 (talk) 04:01, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, my mistake. - DonCalo (talk) 06:40, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
Mafia-like
[edit]I am looking for the legal definition of the term "mafia-like organization" that appears in Italian law. I need it for the new Mafia article. Do you know where I might find a write-up?Kurzon (talk) 17:52, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- The correct term is Mafia-type organisation, which I used in the 'Ndrangheta and Camorra articles, and just explained here Talk:Camorra/Archive 1#Mafia-type. - DonCalo (talk) 17:56, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
Regarding "Mafia-type"
[edit]Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Laval (talk) 11:43, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
Dodge Command Car, definitely not a Willys Jeep
[edit]Buon Giorno Don Calo, with great interest I have read your numerous articles on the Mafia and I am happy to compliment you as a true expert. However, there is a small factual error in the article on "Mario Scelba": the vehicle in the second picture of the article does not depict a Willys Jeep. It is a Dodge Command Car. Please keep up the good work -- it is always a pleasure to read your contributions!
Yours aye
