Michael Wolfe (actor, writer, filmmaker)
[edit]That title is not gonna work. How about Michael Wolfe (director)? §FreeRangeFrog 23:16, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for your time to review the article, FreeRangeFrog! How about Michael Wolfe (filmmaker), would that work? Thank you !! Dmys management (talk) 23:34, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Absolutely, I'll move it now and update the disambiguation page. Thanks! §FreeRangeFrog 23:36, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you! Your are the best! Dmys management (talk) 23:38, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- So it just got deleted based on the copyright issue, which I was trying to fix. Let me see if I can get it back. Also, please remember that IMDb is not a valid third-party source for references, so you'll need something else as a primary or secondary source. §FreeRangeFrog 23:57, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. I will try to find other secondary references, or otherwise I'll delete whatever info is referenced. I will also have to find a different photo, I believe. I will do that, as well. I have to leave the computer now, but will do so first think in the morning! Thanks! Dmys management (talk) 00:00, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- OK, so the admin that deleted the page won't restore it. You have two options here. One, recreate it, being very careful about not pasting text from other websites, and making sure that it is properly sourced (and again, IMDb cannot be used for that purpose). Technically I did not recommend this and I was never here. Your second option is to file a review at Wikipedia:Deletion review and ask for the article to be undeleted. This is probably your best course of action, however it will take longer and there's a possibility that they won't go for it. Based on what I saw of the article, I think it meets both WP:GNG and WP:CREATIVE, however other editors might disagree with that, so there's always the possibility that it will get deleted anyway, although not so quickly. Sorry, but that's just how it is. Also, make sure you read through WP:COI to ensure you stick to the guidelines if you are creating this article on behalf of someone. Let me know if you need any more help. §FreeRangeFrog 00:29, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you so much! I will do one of those options as soon as I read the articles you recommended! Thank you for all your help and time! Dmys management (talk) 00:36, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Michael Wolfe (filmmaker)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Michael Wolfe (filmmaker) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:Michael Wolfe.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Michael Wolfe.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.imdb.com/media/rm360819456/nm2676698. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 23:46, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- I got this picture directly from Michael Wolfe, but he did post it before on his IMDb.com page. I'm not sure what to do, but if it's a problem, then I will delete it and replace it with one that hasn't yet been published by him. Please let me know!
Username is questionable
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Dmys management", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or have the appearance of shared use. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 08:16, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- Dear Orangemike (talk · contribs). Thank you for contacting me about that. Widefox (talk · contribs) and RHaworth (talk · contribs) voiced that they have the same problem, and I will let them know, as well. I'm sorry for the confusion. I totally see that it might look like I am some kind of management, especially of actors/filmmakers. Truth is that me and my family funnily call myself "Dmys management" since my name is Darcy, and I "manage" my spouse and two kids 24/7 :-) I just googled that name, and there you see that there is no company called Dmys management out there. But looking back I realize that the name seems unfortunate. I can totally change it if that's allowed. I just don't want it to look like I'm trying to do something shady, especially since RHaworth (talk · contribs) seems to try to discredit everything I have done on Wikipedia, and he seems to be on a very confrontational course. So I don't want to look like I'm changing my name because I had something to hide... Thank you for your time in helping me! I'm fairly new here on Wikipedia, and I'm really trying to learn how to do everything. Dmys management (talk) 15:27, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- Dear Orangemike (talk · contribs). I haven't heard back from you, so I decided to take your first advice and change my username by creating a new account with a better username, since you and other admin people suggested it was a bad one, and I agree. Thank you again for your time. Dmys management (talk) 16:07, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- To avoid accusations of sockpuppetry you must declare here and on Dmys management what your new user name is. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:20, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- Dear RHaworth, I will do that as soon as I'll create it. I have no intention in doing any sockpuppetry. I know you are a person with good intention, but you should also take to heart the notion that not everybody on Wikipedia wants to commit fraud or copyright crimes, or has bad intentions. Please don't always jump to these conclusions right away. Some people come here to enjoy, learn, and spread happiness by knowledge. Never forget Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith, where it says that assuming good faith is a fundamental principle on Wikipedia. Dmys management (talk) 18:54, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- PS: If somebody openly brags on his personal website about how many articles on Wikipedia he has deleted, it should also raise some flags about Conflicts of Interests, albeit at least ethically and on a personal emotional hygiene level. Having said that, here is my new username: NmysM. You mentioned above that I "...must declare..." it here and on my old page, even though wiki/Wikipedia:Clean_start clearly states under Notification and permission: You are not required to notify anyone of your clean start.. So please hold the same standard you hold against us newbies (who are trying to learn) for yourself... DmysM (talk) 19:33, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- Kindly do not edit someone else's message. Do you wish to explain how mentioning my number of deletions can possibly have anything to do with COI - or shall I just treat your remark with the contempt it deserves? NmysM is not your new username - please do not try to confuse us. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 00:28, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- Not sure what you mean with "do not edit someone else's message". I simply replied to your message, so I don't know what I possibly did wrong. I think we are misunderstanding each other, and I'm not sure how to resolve this miscommunication. And I don't want to confuse anybody. I retired Dmys Management and opened DmysM. This whole thing is just getting too unnerving for me. I came here to Wikipedia to learn, and have fun. I wanted it to be a hobby, a way to widen my horizon, and contribute to the world of knowledge. I didn't expect to encounter all this animosity and bitterness. You might be pleased to hear that you deterred another unworthy newbie to break into the holy brotherhood of Wikipedians you so proudly represent (according to your user page). Another notch in your post.... DmysM (talk) 01:13, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- This edit messed up my message. I am prepared to accept that it was a mistake - be more careful. Wikipedia is fun! As I say on my user page, it is not a vicarage tea party. Expect the cut and thrust of a parliamentary debate and you will start to enjoy it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 02:14, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- I see. I have no idea how that happened. I apologize for that. DmysM (talk) 03:34, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, Dmys management. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Dominik Tiefenthaler (and the deleted Michael Wolfe article), you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. and other NYC film / acting. I agree you should change your username as it may be considered a username violation (a management company for the above). Widefox; talk 12:04, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- Dear Widefox. Thank you for taking your time helping me with this whole thing in a professional and especially courteous matter. I'm sorry for the confusion of the name. You're right, it looks like I am some kind of management, especially of actors/filmmakers. Truth is that me and my family funnily call myself "Dmys management" since my name is Darcy, and I "manage" my spouse and two kids ("m" and "y" and "s") 24/7 :-) I just googled that name, and there you see that there is no company called Dmys management out there.
- About the COI matter: Yes, I do know Michael Wolfe and Dominik Tiefenthaler. We move in the same extended circles, and I have met them each a few times. But I don't do this on their behalf, or because they give me money etc. A few months ago, I saw their movie "Maybe Tomorrow", and I believed that many people attached to this project, and especially these two, deserved appreciation and acknowledgement for what they have accomplished with this and their many other projects and their lives. They, just like numerous others, are known in the independent film circle, and I thought it was time for me to put people like that on Wikipedia. And since I've spent some time recuperating from a surgery, I found some time and started with those two.
- About the IMDb.com references: Because I had met the two actors, I tried hard to stay in the guidelines, be neutral, and be cautious to reference all the information correctly. I read the article Wikipedia:Citing_IMDb and saw that my referencing of their credits might be on a disputable level, but definitely not on an "inappropriate" level. And looking at many other Wikipedia articles about actors and filmmakers on the same "level" as those two (Tiefenthaler and Wolfe), I saw that it was common use to reference imdb credits of released films for Wikipedia.
- Please let me know what steps to take. Again, thank you for your time and help. I'm new here and want to learn. Some people attacked me right away and were really confrontational from the start, without hearing my side of it and giving me the benefit of doubt, like you have. And I really appreciate that. Dmys management (talk) 16:08, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the nice reply. It was good to get closure after searching for a non-existant company name! ;) OK, I'm still unsure if you consider that you have a COI or not, either way, I consider you have, and you would do well to read and follow the instructions at the COI. I'm afraid this Wikipedia:Citing_IMDb may be misleading - it is not policy, but an essay. I have adjusted it to make this more clear. As far as I can see, the best advice is WP:RS/IMDB (again not policy but a project page by the editors who edit films). More simply, UGC is not a WP:RS, and biographies ("BLP"s) require a higher standard than normal articles. I hope you overcome this bureaucratic stuff, as I encourage you to edit, and provide more humourous anecdotes! :) Widefox; talk 16:08, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- You may still wish to consider changing your user name as it will likely raise red flags for every editor concerned about inappropriate use of Wikipedia articles for promotion. Something like DmysM will still allow you to have your personal joke without having to spend time after time after time explaining to other concerned editors. You will find the process: Wikipedia:Changing username. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 16:13, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know about WP:RS/IMDB, Widefox! I will read up on COI and be very careful. Trying to get the hang of it. And just to let you and The Red Pen know, I will make a name change by retiring this name and starting a new account with DmysM as my name.
