- Thank you ;) Yes, I'm going to work on some pages about Russia, especially about Rostov-on-Don and Rostov Oblast... Though, I think, in future it would be interesting to work on pages of whole Russia. So, I'll think about membership in WikiProject Russia. One question, I've seen that your native language is Russian, so - can we talk on our User_talk_pages in Russian, or it will be some violation of English Wikipedia rules? Thanks for creation the Russian article on WikiAfrica! Riannedac (talk) 09:48, 1 July 2011 (UTC) |
Hi Dmitry89 - I've renamed the WikiAfrica template and deleted the category, so it's ready to use. Hope you don't mind, but I've also slightly corrected the wording in the template, since it wasn't quite correct English grammar (though your English is far better than my Russian - ya govoryu po-Russkii ochen plokho! :) Grutness...wha? 02:03, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. Dmitry89 (talk) 07:51, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Dibot
[edit]Hello Dmitry89! I have done some work of creating articles under the Wiki Africa incubator and I am wondering about how the bot works. It keeps deactivating the categories once I add them and this brings me to my concerns/questions as below.
- a) I would propose that the categories be left intact as they are added since these articles will be more visible in their intended categories and this would give them a chance to attract an audience to read or even improve them. This way we would get more guys coming by the incubator and helping out and even contributing.
- b)Correct me if am wrong here, from my understanding of how this bot is working, it is planned that the categories will be fully activated when the articles will be migrated to the namespace for Wikipedia articles. - Hello. Bot works correctly. We made WikiAfrica Incubator like our Incubator in Russian Wikipedia, where community don't support categorisation of such articles in Incubator, they mean that only articles in main namespace should be categorised. We had thought that English community also would not support that, so bot had been customised to do this function. Also bot deactivates interwiki-links (langlinks). If English community don't oppose categorisation of Incubator articles or such bot edits make problems I (or any administrator) can turn on/off these functions in User:Dibot/WA-settings.js by changing parameters

. Just let me know about attitude of community to such categorisation. Dmitry89 (talk) 10:05, 1 August 2012 (UTC)- Thank you for your timely reply. I now fully understand why the Bot is working that way.Well, the articles being locked in the incubator by deactivating the categories gives them time to grow with the help of mentors/experienced editors who will teach/help new users understand Wikipedia. Once again thank you and keep up the nice job you are doing. (leave reply here I will watch the page) - ₫ӓ₩₳ Talk to Me. Email Me. 11:02, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
