Welcome!

[edit]

Hi fellow Wikipedian, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: (~~~~). This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =) Mailer Diablo 05:11, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Mobilitec.logo3.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mobilitec.logo3.jpeg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:06, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Mobilitec.logo2.jpeg)

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Mobilitec.logo2.jpeg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BigDT 02:47, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Finding Your Religion.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Finding Your Religion.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Finding Your Religion photo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Finding Your Religion photo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:26, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Concern

[edit]

If you are who I think you are (a close relation of someone whose biographical article you created and mostly wrote), you might want to consider the wisdom of being the major editor on it. I note that it was recently marked with a tag requesting evidence of notability. I don't know whether he meets the notability standards. He probably does, but, I recognize that as I know him from around the campus, I have my biases (in his favor) and would not be a good judge. Close relations are even more vulnerable to misjudging notability. Since I personally know him I would only do minor edits on a article about him just as I would only do minor edits of articles about close relatives of myself (and as I have two uncles with articles, I have been tempted). Wikipedia editing is fun and a learning experience but sometimes we can be too close to the subject matter. If you are in fact not a close relation, my apologies. --Erp (talk) 02:50, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Memorial Church

[edit]

The Stanford Memorial Church article is being polished in preparation for possible Featured Article status (which could mean appearing for one day on the main page). I was wondering if you would be interested in helping? In particular we are looking for a few extra pictures, one of the Last Supper mosaic behind the altar and possibly one of a Biblical couple mosaic that are in the balconies. I believe you have a camera which I do not (and perhaps easier access to the balconies). The appropriate permissions would be needed on the pictures. See Wikipedia:Peer review/Stanford Memorial Church/archive1 for more info; feel free to comment there. --Erp (talk) 15:34, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
