Removing reliably sourced material
[edit]Hello. I'm glad to see you've come to edit Wikipedia.
The most recent edit you made to Roger Ailes had a few problems:
- Sources: sources are very important to Wikipedia, because we need our readers to be able to verify everything. Your edit removed a sourced paragraph and added an unsourced one.
- Personal opinion: while the edit you removed may have been a disguised opinion, your own edit was also a personal opinion. Fighting fire with fire just makes more fire! It is better to leave all personal opinions out.
- Removing controversial content - this actually isn't a problem, but I wanted to explain that in such circumstances, it's usually best to open a discussion about it. For example, leaving an opinion at Talk:Roger Ailes. I've also opened a thread on one of Wikipedia's noticeboards about what I think is problematic content: WP:BLPN#Roger Ailes that you may feel free to contribute to.
As such, I have undone your edit. Please understand that being reverted might, at first blush, seem unfair or frustrating. This is actually quite common. But it is part of the process, and I'd be glad to talk you through any of it, and maybe help the article be a bit more fair.
Please let me know if you have any questions by responding here with this template: {{subst:ping|Magog the Ogre}}
or leaving a message on my talk page.
