I will be writing a Wiki Page on Costa Rican Agriculture. Subtopics that will be discussed include types of agriculture (Plantation vs sustainable), crops, methods/ techniques, the effects of agricultural practices on biogeography and human communities. /sandbox

Re:Agriculture in Costa Rica
[edit]Hi Diverdw! First, can you explain to me more about why you think the page should be renamed? Agriculture in Costa Rica is actually the preferred name for the topic, as can be seen by the numerous other "Agriculture in..." articles, while the only other "Farming systems in..." article is the one about India created by a classmate of yours. As far as I can see, the article is currently at the proper title. Second, about the image. As far as I can see, the image is copyrighted by the FAO, and I doubt you would have a good case for WP:Fair use. In order to be able to be used without restriction on Wikipedia, images (photos, maps, drawings, etc) must be in the public domain or released under the proper licenses by their creators. In order to be fair use, an image must meet several criteria (outlined at the link I gave above), and I don't think this map meets those criteria. This is partially because the map is really quite easy to explain in writing: "The central part of the country is usually used in maize and bean type agriculture, while along the coasts you find plantations with coast-friendly crops and mixed farming." or something similar. However, if I'm missing something and FAO's materials are in the public domain, please let me know and I will show you how to upload an image. Hope this helps, Dana boomer (talk) 17:32, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
