AFDs

[edit]

Hello, DirtyHarry991,

You are a very new editor, unless you are a returning editor who previously used a different account. If that is true, please identify your other account(s) on your User page so there are no suspicions of sockpuppetry. If you have actually only been editing for about 10 days, then I think you are too inexperienced to be judging which articles should be deleted via WP:AFD. You need to gain experience doing regular editing and learning about Wikipedia policies on sourcing and notabiity. Please slow down the AFD nominations and do some straight up editing on existing articles to become a better editor before trying to pass judgment on the work of editors who have been here for much longer than you have.

If you have any questions about this, editing on Wikipedia or its policies and guidelines, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:53, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I will nominate fewer. I was just trying to nominate articles with obvious problems that clearly warranted deletion. DirtyHarry991 (talk) 04:52, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A small suggestion

[edit]

Please keep in mind that citations need to include identifying information, such as dates of publication and the date that you accessed the source. I've cleaned up the citations at Steel Lake (Washington) and hope you can use that as an example. SounderBruce 05:47, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please make sure to use the MDY format for U.S. articles, per MOS:DATETIES. SounderBruce 02:38, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The citation generator autofills dates in DMY form. Should I manually convert them to MDY instead? DirtyHarry991 (talk) 02:44, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about South Treatment Plant

[edit]

Hello DirtyHarry991, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, South Treatment Plant, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/South Treatment Plant.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TheLongTone}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

I see that you reverted my MOS:MONEY edit on Clark Lake Park. The guide begins In general, the first mention of a particular currency should use its full, unambiguous signifier (e.g. A$52), with subsequent references using just the appropriate symbol (e.g. $88), unless this would be unclear.

I mention it because DYK and the English Wikipedia have a worldwide audience and using the US$ for the currency is helpful. I have also asked on DYK Talk whether the hook for the article should be changed to US$. I am sure you are technically correct about the $ sign based on this article, but I was thinking of our broader main page audience. Adding the US$ to the first occurrence is no harm. Bruxton (talk) 23:32, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Update, seems the hook was ok without the US$. I will need to adjust my own thinking about MOS:MONEY since it was always something I thought was a best practice. Happy editing! Bruxton (talk) 13:21, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
