RFA
I was curious as to which side of that RFA you would take. While I agree that RFA should not be such an inquisition, my reservations regarding giving the block button to an editor that rarely creates content were too great. I see too many admins like Chillum, for example (who has <10% mainspace edits, I believe) allowed to block our content creators. LHMask me a question 17:05, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- LHM, I see this RfA as a complete judgment call, and would not fault anyone for a reasoned, good-faith !vote one way or the other. In the words of another long-time editor, I see no evidence of "assholery" and we need every active admin we can get. If, on the off-chance he becomes a problem in the future, I will be among the first to support desysopping. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 17:21, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- I seriously considered supporting, but I couldn't get past the low percentage of mainspace edits. I really wish the admin buttons would be broken up into smaller chunks, as Jackmcbarn seems an ideal candidate for some of the more "moppy" and less "sheriffy" side of those buttons. Ignorant comments
your pathetic, ignorant comments left on my article are not needed, How about you actually do some research before posting such idiotic statements since you obviously don't. Thank you and LEAVE MY ARTICLES ALONE, don't be jealous because they are better than yours. oh and Miami sucks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Woody72691 (talk • contribs) 07:35, November 1, 2014
- It seems to me that Woody chose a very descriptive section title for his comments here, very apt. Anyway, Dirtlawyer1, I'm glad to see this talk page moved back to where it belongs. --Tryptofish (talk) 20:57, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- So, 'Fish, you don't think I should change my WP user name to "Assole"? Well, that's something, I guess. Faint praise, indeed. LOL Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 23:57, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- You are leaving yourself wide open for a lawyer joke! (Just to be clear, I'm saying all of this in a humorous tone – nothing faint about the praise.) --Tryptofish (talk) 18:44, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

Barnstar for 13-10 AfD discussion
The Socratic Barnstar | ||
Very rarely do people take the time to do the research and set out the arguments as clearly, eloquently and methodically as you did in the AfD debate The Michigan - Toledo game. If that doesn't justify a Socratic barnstar, then I don't know what does. --Legis (talk - contribs) 06:04, 5 November 2014 (UTC) |
- Thanks for the barnstar and the kind words, Legis. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 11:51, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
The eternal wiki-question
Why do you edit these pages - Metheprincess (talk) 23:13, 13 November 2014 (UTC) signature added manually
- Good question. Perhaps it's some sort of addiction. Perhaps it's some sort of deep-rooted need to bring order to chaos. Perhaps because it's there, to steal a quote from a notable Kiwi. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:45, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Dirtlawyer1, I wanted to be sure that you had seen Crisco 1492's reply on this nomination, since you hadn't responded and usually do reply quickly. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 22:20, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
- Pinging again, because it's been two weeks and there hasn't been any response to Crisco's post, which would seem to indicate that the sources you suggest would be okay, while that one source used at present is inadequate. Even if you're busy, we need an expression of interest or intent on the nomination. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:23, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
- Pinging one last time. If you have any objections to my proposed four-article hook, please let me know; otherwise we're going ahead with it—I'll get Tony to review it, and hopefully we won't need any more work done. I do suggest possible subjects for hooks regarding the other three articles, but you'll have to actually propose the hooks or get Cbl62 to take an active hand again. If not, they'll just fall by the wayside when the other hook is promoted. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:34, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: Please proceed with your suggested four-article hook. As you may know, these articles were largely the creation of Cbl62, who has been consumed with RW issues for the last 5 or 6 weeks. I got involved because the players were Florida Gators athletes, a topic in which I edit frequently, and because I was trying to pick up the ball for the missing Cbl62. I'm not a DYK regular, so I was merely trying to resolve the concerns Tony and others had raised on Cbl62's behalf. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 23:44, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Catie Ball
The article Catie Ball you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Catie Ball for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already been on the main page as an "In the news" or "Did you know" item, you can nominate it to appear in Did you know. - Nice work. I'll try and pick up another of the swimmer articles over the next few days. Have you decided whether you're going to take Andrew Sledd to FAC? I really think it would make it. I'd be happy to conominate if you like, but I don't think you need me. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 13:04, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mike. I'm ready to move Sledd when you are -- having never been through the FA process, I'd love to have you involved. Let me know how you think I should proceed. I'll look forward to your next GA review: I thought all of your comments of the Catie Ball article were spot on. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 14:52, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- My hesitation in conominating is just that I'm not sure I really deserve credit for it: you did all the hard work. I certainly put in time reviewing, but I couldn't have created the article. Also, if you nominate without me, I can support, which I can't do if I'm one of the nominators. (Though I'm pretty sure it's going to pass either way.) If you want me to conominate I can help take care of any copyediting, formatting, or MoS concerns, but you would have to deal with anything concerning sources that are not available online. Let me know what you'd like to do. I just nominated another article, but I can have two running at the same time if one is a conomination, so I can do the nomination today if that's what you decide you'd prefer. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:57, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Mike Christie: Okay -- understood. Let me re-read the FAC guidelines, and I'll ping you back over the weekend with any questions, etc. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:01, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

Comment
Changed free agent for this category Category:NFL Free Agent current team parameter articles. Need to make a cat for one's spelled "Free agent" too. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 04:05, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- "Free agent" is only capitalized in the infobox because "f" is the first letter of the first word; in the linked category, it should read "Category:NFL free agent current team parameter articles" because "free" is not the first word and "free agent" is not a proper noun, WO-9. DYK for Tootie Perry
On 24 November 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tootie Perry, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the American football players inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame as "Gator Greats" include "All-American Waterboy" Tootie Perry, attorney Goldy Goldstein, and halfbacks Red Bethea and Larry Dupree? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tootie Perry. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Template:CFB Yearly Record End/footnotes
DL, when you get a chance, can you comment on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College football#Template:CFB Yearly Record End/footnotes. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 04:13, 25 November 2014 (UTC) @Jweiss11:
- Let me get up to speed on the issue and old discussions, and I will comment tomorrow when I'm better informed. Suffice it to say, I'm not thrilled at the prospect of one editor making unilateral changes to a template that affects hundreds of articles. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:34, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- In fairness to that editor, he asked for a discussion three months ago and didn't get one. Jweiss11 (talk) 04:43, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
