Brady Cowell
DL, I just threw together new article on an old Gator coach that you might be interested in working on: Brady Cowell. Jweiss11 (talk) 01:31, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Nice work, JW. Brady is one of the Gators' head basketball/head baseball/asst. football coaches that I've had on my list for a while, but just hadn't made him a priority over my work on cleaning up existing coach and All-American football player articles. The next one in the Gators' head basketball/head baseball coach succession that I would like to stub out is James L. White, Jr. I've done some basic research already: Wake Forest three-sport hero in the late teens/early 20s, baseball coach at Virginia, athletic director and basketball and baseball head coach at Wake Forest, athletic director and basketball and baseball head coach at Florida, then I lost him . . . no Google News Archives hits after that. If you could employ some of those marvelous research skills of yours on White, I would be grateful. I'll start chewing on Brady Cowell, and start filling in some of the Gators basketball and baseball history in the next few days. Again, nice work, and thanks for thinking of me. - I stumbled upon the Stetson football program when I was working on Joe McMullen. Cowell led the Stetson football team in 1938 to its only win ever in Gainesville, probably the biggest win in the program's history, if not the 1952 Tangerine Bowl. Hatters football is coming back to FCS in 2013 after a 60+ year hiatus. I'll see what I can dig up about White. Jweiss11 (talk) 00:00, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- The NCAA database (http://web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/careercoach) has J.L. White Jr. coaching at Wake in 1920-21 and graduating from Virginia in 1917. Found a pic of White at Virginia in 1916: http://virgobeta.lib.virginia.edu/catalog/uva-lib:1044599. Jweiss11 (talk) 00:11, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
