Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Crocs, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Vegas pro logo.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Vegas pro logo.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:19, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted images

[edit]

Do not add copyrighted images to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If you do not provide adequate copyright information, it is assumed that the image is copyrighted and unavailable for free use. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images borrowed from other web sites, printed material, films, or other sources; such additions will be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. Note that Wikipedia policy does not allow use of a non-free image on the page of a living person. Ward3001 (talk) 16:29, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: new better image

[edit]

why cant i put an image of her that is from imdb but actually taken from wire image? Dioxholster 01:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)dioxholster[reply]

It's a matter of copyright, and Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. Read WP:NFC and WP:C. Also note that claiming fair-use for a copyrighted image of a living person is not permitted by Wikipedia on that person's bio page. Ward3001 (talk) 01:49, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

what if i got it from imdb photo place. not sure if its licensed there, but at the time it was obtainable, not at the moment though. i got the pic from jan 20 2008 and it had vespa as the name, who i think is the photographer. which was something like this: EmilyDesch_Vespa_7744721_400.jpg thats all i know about the image. obviously the name implies that it can be reused. Dioxholster 16:30, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but no. Everything on IMDb is copyrighted. In fact, you must assume that any image is copyrighted unless it specifically states otherwise. About the only way to get an acceptable image in a case like this is if you take it yourself or you get permission from the copyright holder.
"obviously the name implies that it can be reused": Certainly not obvious to me. There's nothing in the name "EmilyDesch_Vespa_7744721_400.jpg" that says it can be reused. Ward3001 (talk) 17:08, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ok never mind i get your point. so i guess we have to settle for crappy images then. Dioxholster (talk) 17:13, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:StargateUniverse-banner3.jpg

[edit]

Where did you find Image:StargateUniverse-banner3.jpg? You said it's from the "official site", but as far as I can tell there is no official site. Staecker (talk) 13:05, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

there is now, its right here: http://stargate.mgm.com/universe/ it got a logo there but this pic i got from the main page that leads to that site. this pic is just temporary its frustrating not having anything to relate the series with, its only months away from airing there should be some kind of promo thing, so this is all we got now. i believe its suitable. I have tagged Image:Rodneymckaypic.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. Otherwise, it will be deleted in seven days. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 21:01, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unreferenced controversial biographical content to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Russell Brand. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. September 2012

[edit]

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Ahmadiyya. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. See the talk page. This has been resolved twice and we have reliable sources - by our criteria, even if not by yours - for this. Dougweller (talk) 09:29, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

http://islam-qa.com/en/ref/4060 you can not be serious, giving legitimacy to a cult just because it sounds more peaceful to you than actual islam? they are jonestown crazy, label them as such. these sources you give are western oriented who have no right to tell us what islam is (Dioxholster (talk) 15:05, 9 September 2012 (UTC))[reply]
I understand what you are saying, but that's not the way Wikipedia works. Read our policies again. Dougweller (talk) 15:43, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
the first paragraph needs to state how muslim countries see this movement and that there is debate as to whether its islamic or not. I see so many times on the net people confusing it for sunni islam, when they want proof of islam being peaceful they refer to them. (Dioxholster (talk) 16:08, 9 September 2012 (UTC))[reply]
I agree, the lead needs to be rewritten, with some of the material in the lead moved to the body of the article. The lead needs to be a summary of the article, and without the material you are referring to it doesn't do that. I'll have a go tomorrow but if you want to put some ideas on the talk page, feel free. Let's do this on the talk page first please and I'll try to involve at least one other editor. Please understand I am trying to keep this article NPOV and don't think any religion has it right. I'm glad that you aren't edit warring here, there is at least one editor who edited today or yesterday who has been here only to remove anything Ahmadiyya.
