Funchal pictures

[edit]

Hi, while it's great that you're adding pictures to Funchal, it's now getting to the point where there are too many for the text. There are two options - one is to make a gallery at the bottom of the page (using the "gallery" html tag), or better, to create a gallery at the commons and move all the pictures there. The advantage of the second approach is that the pictures are available to all languages, not just the English WP. Stan 07:55, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:CasasdeSantana.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. License tagging for Image:Town center.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Town center.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:08, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Lisbon nightlife, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://www.lisbon.com/nightlife/index.html. As a copyright violation, Lisbon nightlife appears to qualify for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Lisbon nightlife has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. If the source is a credible one, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GFDL, you can comment to that effect on Talk:Lisbon nightlife. If the article has already been deleted, but you have a proper release, you can reenter the content at Lisbon nightlife, after describing the release on the talk page. However, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. -- Merope Talk 18:11, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:2006-01-01_-_01-07_Funchal_Sylvesterfeuerwerk_-_33.JPG listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:2006-01-01_-_01-07_Funchal_Sylvesterfeuerwerk_-_33.JPG has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. RHaworth 04:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to blank or remove content from Wikipedia, as you did to Lisbon, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Húsönd 21:46, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Your edits have been reverted because Wikipedia is not censored for minors. If you still believe the material should be removed, censored, or disclaimed, please discuss it in the article's discussion page first. Any further changes to the article in this manner will be regarded as vandalism unless we can reach an agreement at the discussion page first. You may be blocked from editing Wikipedia if you continue to ignore these warnings. You are encouraged to continue contributing to Wikipedia in a helpful manner, but please keep this in mind. Thank you. Carlosguitar 14:49, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia as a result of your disruptive edits. You are free to make constructive edits after the block has expired, but please note that vandalism (including page blanking or addition of random text), spam, deliberate misinformation, privacy violations, personal attacks; and repeated, blatant violations of our neutral point of view policy will not be tolerated. Húsönd 16:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop disrupting articles such as Lisbon with undiscussed changes, POV insertion and content removal. Persistent disruption and refusal to respond to editors' concerns will lead to another block. Thank you.

Obrigada.Page Up 19:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Regarding Gdp per capita ppp world map 2005.PNG: you've added it to the article: List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita, and on 14.4.07 you've updated this map according to the new figures supplied by the IMF (on 11.4.07). I would be happy to listen to your opinion about the problem of leaving the map as it is now in the article List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita. I think this map can't stay in the article, because the List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita refers to 2006 figures, and the map refers to 2005 figures. The other alternative is to edit another map which will represent 2006 figures. What do you think? Eliko 09:38, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also in the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, File:ESC 2015 Map.svg. While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments are more appropriate for the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and respond to them, and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Article talk pages are not the place to discuss opinions of the subject of articles, nor are such pages a forum. Thank you. Wes Mouse | T@lk 12:45, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:ESC 2015 Map.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pedro Carmo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1343948/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Copy and paste moves

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give TAP Portugal a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into TAP Air Portugal. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Invitation from Wikimedia Portugal

[edit]

(English below)

Agradecemos desde já!

Hi! Wikimedia Portugal is the Portuguese chapter of Wikimedia, founded in 2009 and recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation. Our mission is to contribute to the general dissemination of knowledge and culture through the incentive to the collection and creation of content without restrictions on use, modification and distribution, and promote their difusion; we promote and support the Wikimedia Foundation projects, among which Wikipedia, with emphasis on projects in Portuguese and Mirandese.

We would like however to count on the support of (and in turn ourselves support) all volunteers that are citizens, resident, or simply interested in Portugal. Despite being founded in 2009, the chapter has gone through a long period of inactivity that we are trying to overcome. We have sent you this message to invite you, if you are interested, to enroll as associate to the chapter, demonstrate your support to the existence of a chapter in Portugal, and get involved in the discussion of future activities by registering in the mailing list. Recentely, the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee suspended support to Wikimedia Portugal pending, among other things, the support from the community of portuguese editors. Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to TAP Air Portugal, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Jetstreamer Talk 11:46, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The removed content is redundant, it should not be placed in the heading of the page dedicated to TAP but to its history. You removed relevant information that was added by me - Department of Transportation of US -, in fact, as has become the habit, Jetstreamer. Diogo sfreitas (talk)
