I saw that suggestion, and my first impulse is that it's a great idea. I'm going to give it a bit of thought before I pipe in, but my initial reaction is that it could be just the thing to get some juices flowing.--Kubigula (talk) 04:06, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning or evening (depending on your location) T Rex | talk. I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for your comments on my Rfa application. Thank you for your support in my Request for Adminship. Re your message: Yeah, I know. I missed blocking that IP by a fraction of a second. Jaranda beat me to it. That would have been nice if I issued the block. =) I'm not sure who that is. The IP has no other edits, so it must be somebody else I've blocked using a different IP. Oh, well, not the first time and I'm sure not the last. -- Gogo Dodo 06:37, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image experience

[edit]

Thank you for commenting on my RfD. I understand the concerns about my being involved in CSD, with what can be considered insufficient proof I understand the criteria for these deletions. But I was surprised to see your objection based on insufficient experience with images. Untagged images are labeled by OrphanBot, and OrphanBot also notifies the uploader of the problem with their image (an admin deleting these images would have to verify that OrphanBot appropriately tagged the image and that the uploader had actually been notified, of course). I was unaware of ways that normal editors could help out in this area. I would appreciate any advice you have regarding this. LyrlTalk C 01:46, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am an advisor to the National Hockey League. With your help over the next few months I plan to review and correct any information on wikipedia relating to the National Hockey League, its franchises, players, executives and partership organisations. I am here to provide you with information. Your work is appreciated. --NHLsource 18:19, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dinosaur puppy, though the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum is a part of the Smithsonian Institution, it doesn't have a presence in Washington, so your addition of it to the district project surprises me. Washington D.C. Project

[edit]

There was sufficient interest on the proposed projects page to start it, so I created the page. I am now joining the project. I'm afraid much of my effort, at least probably for the next month or so, will be directed to trying to "sort out" the various articles relating to religion, of which there are a lot and many of them not yet assessed or even tagged, but hope to be getting to work on the other projects as soon as that's done. Washington DC Template Question

[edit]

I noticed you added the DC template to several different stations which is great. I do have one slight problem. Some of the stations don't make it into the DC area, ie: WPER, WINC-FM (only makes it to about Arlington), WAZT-CA (barely makes it outside of the county it serves), WHSV-TV (part of the Harrisonburg DMA]], My Valley and The Valley's FOX (also part of the Harrisonburg DMA]].

These really don't make it near DC, with WINC-FM probably the only slight exception. Would it be possible to remove the DC Templates from the other stations (ones in other DMAs and ones that don't serve DC or Northern VA) and leave the one on WINC-FM, since it does make it fairly close)?

Please let me know and I will be glad to take care of that for ya. Also, let me know if you need any help with putting the templates up. Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 18:47, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okie Dokie :) I didn't know about WINC-FM making it to DC. I know they have one helluva broadcast area, but I thought their city-grade signal stopped right about Arlington. Full disclosure: I live near Winchester. Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 19:01, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have never been to DC (so close, but never got there) so I was taking my Dad's word for it (he works all around DC).
I removed the templates from [[The Valley's FOX], My Valley, TV3 Winchester (which is only on cable in Winchester), and WAZW-CA. After taking a look at the FCC site, I noticed that WJYJ (part of the WPER simulcast) does make it into DC, so I left that one be since it is for both stations.
Also, I noticed WVPT after my first message, but I also left it be, since it is available by DirecTV throughout the DC area (which I always found weird) including DC proper according to the DirecTV website. - NeutralHomer T:C 19:11, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My edits

[edit]

I HAVE given my sources and they get deleted anyway! You can't just say I use no sources when I DOCorey Bryant 19:10, 10 August 2007 (UTC).[reply]

All right: the 1972-73 season of the hockey project I gave my sources as The New York

Times, Eddie: A Goalie's Story and They Call Me Gump by Gump Worsley. Now I don't mean to make a personal attack, but Croat Canuck took it down anyway! This tells you something about how the staff of the hockey project runs things. They call something "POV" when it isn't. If it is legitimate, they take it down ANYWAY. I suspect personal spite: I'm the only person who contributes and they are jealous of this---they never attacked me before the 1966-67 season on their hockey project. Yet ALL OF A SUDDEN NOTHINGI contribute is good enough for them. If I attack someone personally, it is that I am frustrated with the people of the hockey project. They have earned it.Corey Bryant 20:18, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA examination and text

[edit]

Hello, thank you for taking the time to compare 2007 Texas Longhorn football team vs. the GA criteria. However, I think perhaps you made a cut-and-paste error? It seems you meant to fail the article, but the text you put in says that you are promoting it.[1] Could you please stop by and clarify the post so as to reflect your intentions? Thanks again for your review. Johntex\talk 16:00, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

[edit]

Yeah, I have a fairly good idea of what I am doing. I tend to copy-edit or remove vandalism more than add content. My problem is that I don't always have a good idea of how far I should go, I get a little carried away with what is or isn't vandalism. See Aliens in America especially the talk page and page history. Although my intent there was more to follow Wikipedia rules than to defend the show (I though everyone was getting a little POV, but I may have crossed a line). Thanks for your GA review of James "Honest Dick" Tate. I have attempted to address your concerns. If you find further issues that need to be addressed, please let me know. Otherwise, I hope you will be able to pass the article. Thanks. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 02:18, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that the more appropriate search is "James Tate" OR "James W. Tate" OR "Honest Dick Tate" Kentucky, which didn't turn up any new information. Apparently, there have been several notable people named James Tate. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 12:09, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Earthquake

[edit]

The major problem is that it was one strong earthquake, not the two or even three that were initially reported. That's the problem with trying to be fast on the draw. -- Cyrius| 02:10, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The initial initial report was a 7.9, a 7.5, and another 7.5, which was really bad. Then they cut out the 7.9 and one of the 7.5s, and then later bumped the remaining 7.5 to 7.9. It's all confusing. -- Cyrius| 02:14, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question for member of GA article sweeps

[edit]

If you've got a moment, I was wondering if you could answer some questions I'm curious about? They are:

  1. What GA articles have you worked on and submitted to GA review?
  2. Have you ever worked at getting an article to FA status?

Hopefully won't take more than a moment of your time. - Ta bu shi da yu 13:55, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've reworked the article in accordance with your requests. Regards. --Steerpike 22:05, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New recognized content

By Maxim

Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]

  1. Hart Memorial Trophy
  2. James Norris Memorial Trophy
  3. Vezina Trophy
  4. Conn Smythe Trophy
  5. Frank J. Selke Trophy
  6. Lady Byng Memorial Trophy
  7. Lester B. Pearson Award
  8. Calder Memorial Trophy
  9. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
  10. King Clancy Memorial Trophy
  11. Jack Adams Award
  12. Presidents' Trophy
  13. List of Calgary Flames players

There have been no new good articles or featured articles. Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has been given A-Class status due to multiple issues raised at FLC.

  1. ^ The last one, List of Calgary Flames players, is the only one not associated with the featured topic drive.
  2. ^ At the time of publishing, there were 5 lists at WP:FLC and 2 lists in the "Holding cell", as there's been an accepted guideline to not put more that 5 trophy lists at the same time to, "compensate for the sanity of the reviewers".

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:

  1. Hart Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  2. James Norris Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  3. Vezina Trophy (Scorpion)
  4. Conn Smythe Trophy (Serte)
  5. Frank J. Selke Trophy (FutureNJGov)
  6. Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  7. Lester B. Pearson Award (Scorpion)
  8. Calder Memorial Trophy (Croat Canuck)
  9. Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  10. King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  11. Jack Adams Award (Maxim)
  12. Presidents' Trophy (Scorpion)
  13. Stanley Cup (Earlier collaboration, very many involved)
  14. Traditions and anecdotes associated with the Stanley Cup (Maxim)

Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion.

Re: Weather info

[edit]

On NFL.com, each game has a "Gamebook" feature, which tells you what happened during the game. It even mentions the temperature of an outside game. -Alakazam —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 13:17, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
