Information icon Hi DinoSoupCanada! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at 2023 Lake Huron high-altitude object that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Hi DinoSoupCanada, I hope hearing from a fellow trans person who was really saddened to read Eden’s suicide note and is also an admin might help: attacking Cullen and other editors and accusing them of being paid by Michael Pocalyko doesn't help anything. Cullen is one of the nicest people we have on the website, and I can assure you no one is being paid to defend Pocalyko. I hope you can step away for a bit and apologize to Cullen and others.
I also appreciate you trying to include sources and phrase things more appropriately in your edit, but we have strict WP:BLP policies that apply to everyone because no one should be accused without the accusation being properly verified and being WP:DUE. The sources you included are definitely not up to the standard of WP:RS and to source an accusation of this standard; while you did attribute the accusation to Eden, we need sourcing to show that the accusation is important and relevant, and also to verify the accusation independently. Galobtter (pingó mió) 00:34, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. 🏳️‍⚧️DinoSoupCanada🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 00:47, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, Galobtter. I appreciate your kind words. My only motivation is to enforce WP:BLP policy. Although not transgender myself, I have been friendly with transgender and gay people ever since the late 1960s, and display a portrait photo of myself taken by a well-known transgender photographer on my userpage. Cullen328 (talk) 06:10, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Sorry. I should've known not to add in the paragraph without consensus. And I'm also sorry about my personal attack on you. I didn't actually think you were being paid by Pokalyco, I was just angry at the time. 🏳️‍⚧️DinoSoupCanada🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 00:15, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently been editing articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, which has been designated a contentious topic. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Blocked for sockpuppetry

I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I know I messed up. I'm sorry.
But... will I ever be able to edit Wikipedia ever again? This site means so much to me.. I'll take any punishment. any amount of time being blocked. I'll do anything. but please don't leave it indefinite. please. I'm begging you im crying. please. please. I'll take a year blocked. just please let me back on. 🏳️‍⚧️DinoSoupCanada🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 22:31, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I will say however that UkroLiberator was something weird my brother did on my computer. 🏳️‍⚧️DinoSoupCanada🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 22:48, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I admit that I used CanadianOwl. I thought that if I constructively edited articles about Eden on there during my block, that it would be fine, but I didn't stop to think that it was block evasion. For that I'm sorry. I used CanadianOwl as a mobile account for when I didn't have my computer. My temper exploded on the page for Brianna Ghey.
I think that I should stay away from transgender issues if I ever do get unblocked. It's too personal and I have a bias.
I'll accept the punishment and stop using other accounts. 🏳️‍⚧️DinoSoupCanada🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 22:53, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But Wikipedia is my hobby. You've seen that I have made many positive contributions. I know that doesn't mean anything here...
Please, can I be unblocked ever? 🏳️‍⚧️DinoSoupCanada🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 22:55, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Explaining in depth

[edit]

Just want to clear some things up, now that I'm less emotional.

1. Disruptive behavior on Canadian 0wl wasn't because I was trying to evade punishment here. I just didn't have my computer at the time.

2. I didn't mean to evade my block. I wanted to make constructive edits, however, yes, that's still block evasion. I wasn't thinking at the time and the day I made all those edits was ~11:40 PM (EST).

3. I didn't make UkroLiberator. I maintain that my brother, who lives with me, was editing on a different account as a prank on me. He has confirmed this however there's not really any way to prove it.

I know that none of this exempts me from my block or makes what I did any better, but I just wanted to try to clear it up. 🏳️‍⚧️DinoSoupCanada🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 18:45, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have taken time to think about this and am ready to try again. I have learned my lesson dearly. I will stay away from transgender topics and personal topics that will make me lose my judgement. I promise not to use multiple accounts, especially if I am not permitted to. I’m sorry for my previous behavior and promise to be constructive in the future. I admit that I used Canadian 0wl as a mobile account, and evaded block. However, I didn't do this with bad intentions, I thought that if I made constructive edits on another account it wouldn't be a problem. I understand that this was still wrong and that it does not excuse me from my behavior.

I maintain that the disruptive account of UkroLiberator was not me and in fact a prank from my brother, who lives with me and shares a computer with me. There is no (concrete) way for me to prove this. However, if you look at my initial request for unblock on the unblock ticket system on the same day (my IP was blocked for a day), it shows this explanation. I never attempted to distance myself from this account and have been truthful. I didn't blame it on unrelated people or denied that there was a disruptive account on my computer, at my IP address. This was my brother and I admit that. The account is also out of line with my beliefs. While I haven't really shared my position on the Russo-Ukrainian War, I take a pro-Ukrainian stance. My brother attempted to parody a Russian propagandist, which I wouldn't do. You can also see that my previous disruptive behavior was not related to the war and wasn't random, it was about transgender topics and something I disagreed with. 🏳️‍⚧️DinoSoupCanada🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 23:31, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

We don't know if it's your brother or you operating another account- this is called meat puppetry, which is treated the same as sock puppetry. The way forward here(in addition to your pledge to stay away from transgender topics) is to go six months without making any edits under any account or IP, to show us that you can abide by guidelines. 331dot (talk) 08:10, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Just want to say this in the beginning, I know it hasn't been the full 6 months, however I know that it takes some time for these to be reviewed so I decided that I'll request now.

I ask that I am unblocked for these reasons: My disruptions are not indicative of my full work on Wikipedia. All disruptions seen on this account and Canadian Owl were related to one subject; transgender topics. Transgender topics are very close and personal to me, and like I have said, it clouds my judgement. If I am allowed back on, I will not edit on topics related to gender identity. I am sorry for these disruptions and I regret them. I promise that this is not representative of me, and just in the moment outbursts over sensitive topics.

I also will say that I was not trying to avoid detection on Canadian Owl. My computer is not always available to me, and I just edited on whatever account was available to me. In hindsight, that wasn't a good idea. I now understand that I probably shouldn't have multiple accounts if I don't have a good reason. I should've just signed in on mobile.

About UkroLiberator: That account was not made by me. It was made by my brother who I share a house and computer with. He was attempting to parody a Russian propagandist, and that is not something I would do. As seen before, all of my disruptions are to do with transgender topics. My first block request answer said that the way forward was to abstain from editing for 6 months; which is what I have largely done. I am off by about two weeks, but only because of the above reasons. I will continue to not edit unless this request is accepted.

In conclusion, I am sorry for my disruptions. I am a sensitive person when it comes to transgender topics, which I will abstain from if I am granted my editing privileges back. I am also sorry for my brother disrupting Wikipedia, however I deny owning UkroLiberator. I have stopped editing for 6 months, under any account. I hope I can receive my editing privileges back, thank you.

Decline reason:

Declined.  Possible sockpuppetry via Hfoiewhgoihgoi. You are next eligible for unblock consideration under WP:SO on 2024-01-23. Yamla (talk) 22:54, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
