Peer Review- Kyle I really like what I have read so far! You have definitely taken the original article and flushed it out with a more context. I have no comments regarding the 'Urban Legend' section, but I do have some questions regarding the 'Analysis' portion.
First- I was curious as to why you removed the myth verdict determined by Snopes.com. I know the website is sort of THE website for urban legends, so I think seeing it's verdict of Polybius would be helpful for readers. I know if I read this article randomly, I would immediately head to Snopes to see what they said. Having that information readily available on the Wiki would cut out the middle man.
Second- The quote you have used from Yahoo! Games' Ben Silverman, while taken verbatim from the original Wiki, is used in a drastically different context. In the original Wiki this quote seems to be used to deepen the myth, suggesting that after the game was removed, the players looked like idiots (thus implying the game had players and was therefore real). On the other hand, when you use this quote, you do so as a means of suggesting the game never existed. I would look a little deeper into this quote, does it suggest the game is real or not? Personally, I read it as the former, but that may just be the way it was framed. If you are certain this quote is saying there was never any game, perhaps find a way to make it less ambiguous?
Third- The authors (at least I think they're authors) Dunning and Despira get slight introduction in the original Wiki as well as a hyperlink to their original page. Your page immediately jumps into their argument without first suggesting who they are, leaving me (or the reader) going back and scanning the page to make sure I didn't miss their intro and context.
Overall though, I really had a fun time reading your page. It's interesting, engaging, and informative! Menschel (talk)
Looks good, Heather. Forward! Profhanley (talk) 19:02, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
"Although a number of individuals came forward claiming to have some involvement with Polybius, a man going by the name of Steven Roach especially had an impact on the continued development of the legend in 2006. Roach claimed he had been one of the original programmers and that his company developed a game with very intense and cutting-edge graphics." This particular line is a good inclusion of some real world people and how this game affected individuals. You could find some improvement in shortening certain lines. Phrases such as "a man going by the name of" unfortunately doesn't suit the Wikipedia environment well. Instead, you could reword it as: "Although a number of individuals...Polybius, the original programmer Steven Roach claims...." as an example.Dmakeever (talk) 21:05, 9 November 2017 (UTC)Derek
Also, see if you can add more hyperlinks to other articles in your edits! Names of note or other websites may have wikipedia articles of their own. If you do find anything, try to link! Dmakeever (talk) 21:06, 9 November 2017 (UTC)Derek
Sources
[edit]These sources look pretty good. I suggest searching the "Global Newsstream" database in the SFSU library. This will give you a broader range of sources, some of which will definitely be more objective and reliable. Profhanley (talk) 18:25, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
