User talk:Dhoom4
I learnt that Colayer page has been protected. Any reasons having the special protection? Can this be opened so that I can add some general encyclopedic content about Colayer. I have made the content as per wikipedia standards? Thanks for you answer. Dhoom4 05:10, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I see your question has already been answered on the Colayer talk page, but would you like to post your work on a subpage of your user page? (say, at User:Dhoom4/Colayer) Cheers, Tangotango (talk) 05:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, the question was answered but 'Colayer' page is not available for editing, for some reasons. Secondly I don't mind adding my contents to a subpage of Dhoom4 (if you want to proof read) but finally I would like to have the earlier Colayer page. Many thanks Dhoom4 05:23, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- The page is not available for editing because other user accounts repeatedly recreated the article with what was blatantly an advertisement for the company. If possible, I would like you to post your work first to a subpage of your user page so that we can check that it is not the same, or similar text that was repeatedly deleted. If the content is the same or similar, and if it continues to assert no notability, is not written from a Neutral Point of View, and does not cite reliable sources, then it cannot be posted. Cheers, Tangotango (talk) 05:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, very good. Thanks for your support. I will upload the contents for your review and then you can decide accordingly. Thanks again ...Dhoom4 05:51, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have uploaded the content at User:Dhoom4/Colayer - Awaiting your feedback. Thanks again Dhoom4 08:50, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

I noticed you are looking for advise concerning User:Dhoom4/Colayer. Wow, I'm impressed with all the work you've done! However, it has much of the problems that the deleted versions had: It reads more like an advertisement than an encyclopedia article, and there is little information to show the company is notable. I recommend focusing first just on meeting WP:CORP by finding reliable sources from third parties. Currently, most of the sources you cite are not fit for a Wikipedia article. See also WP:NPOV on how to better present information in a neutral manner. Hope you find this helpful. --Ronz 16:43, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Dhoom4, I think that's pretty good work of yours on the new Colayer article :-) I've moved it to Colayer now, and removed the protection. Do, however, take heed of the suggestions above by Ronz; I agree that unless the article cites more reliable sources, it will have to be deleted again per our polices. Cheers, Tangotango (talk) 06:51, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind consideration Tango. Nice of you & User:Ronz to support & guide me with my article . Unfortunately it seems that User:Tiggerjay does not agree to your opinion and has deleted the article on User:Dhoom4/Colayer which was actually a draft waiting for approval and/or further suggestion. I will be happy to take out OR repharse couple of sentences which does not match wikipedia standards, but for that it would be great if know a particular sentence(s) which I have to rework, instead of deleting the whole article. Dhoom4 07:06, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm restored the article and moved it back to your userspace for now. I think you really need more reliable sources on the article; articles from sources like the BBC, CNN, etc., along with sentences explaining why the article is so notable (per WP:CORP) would greatly improve the article (indeed, they are necessary for inclusion in Wikipedia). Cheers, Tangotango (talk) 07:52, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the help and guidance. Will work on it ... Till now Colayer is too young to be in BBC, CNN etc. but what coverage it has had so far is: Swiss Television http://sf.tv (reference added already) and one from Davos (Swiss) newspaper Davoser Zeitung (reference yet to be added). Do you think this would help little bit? In addition do you think a conference event coverage would add to notability USID 2007 . Have a nice day Dhoom4 08:15, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]What can I help you? Chanueting 12:56, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I was earlier discussing with "Tangotango" user to have Colayer page (refer discussion above in my talk page). But then he adviced to upload the content about Colayer on User:Dhoom4/Colayer page for review and if it fits Wikipedia standards then he would open the main Colayer page. Now, after having posted the content on User:Dhoom4/Colayer I am looking forward for the feedback. If positive, it would be great to have Colayer page back. Thanks Dhoom4 13:11, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
I think you can talk to him over here:User talk:Tangotango by pressing the + mark to start a new discussion. Chanueting 13:26, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your guidance. Helps a lot... What's your opinion though on the content? Dhoom4 13:35, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Looks good (I cannot spend a lot of time on it), but I think you can separate the Note&reference into two parts, but it is good job. Just make more contributions, and good articles! Chanueting 01:06, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! Great! Will work on it further as you have suggested Dhoom4 06:37, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
And the Image:Colayerweb logo.gif, I think it is better to have a direct link, else, others would put a {{no source}} on it and it will be soon deleted. Chanueting 01:09, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for your advice. I have put the direct link and have optimised the image page as per wikipedia standards.Dhoom4 06:37, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Colayerweb logo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Colayerweb logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:07, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. I have provided the file link on wikipedia article where the image is used. Dhoom4 06:34, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Colayer, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Tiggerjay 06:46, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note but I see you have already deleted the sub-page. There might be couple of sentences which might not meet your standards. I will be happy to take out OR repharse them but for that it would be great to know which ones I have to rework. I was about to put 'hangon' statement but your speed of deletion was quick. I will be happy if you could guide my work. Thanks again ... Dhoom4 07:41, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Dhoom4 - actually I did not delete the page, rather I requested that an administrator review it to be speedily deleted. It appears that the administrator who deleted it agreed with me. I will take a moment and review the copy on your sub-page to see if I can offer any advice. 05:49, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, here are some things I noticed off the bat:
- Too many links, do not link every keyword as it adds little value.
- It reads like marketing material -- tell us why anyone (not interested in your product) would care about this article.
- It appears that this is a combination of a corporate profile and a product. They should be seperated out. Information about the corp and then a clearly defined section or other article for the product itself.
- Provide ref links only to disputable information. Your links provided do not appear to add notability, simply are primarily alternate documentation of fact.
- Something notable "may" be a trade publication review of your product. Not just a press release or documentation of facts. But rather a full review of the company or product. (At this time blogs are not notable enough).
- I hope this helps. Tiggerjay 06:03, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hey Tiggerjay, hope you had a nice weekend. I made corrections based on yr feedback - User:Dhoom4/Colayer. What is your feeling now? As for your comment (point 2): I think, people who are interested in technology (and not the product) would find the article useful as Colayer technology is slightly different than the conventional ones. Also I understand blogs may not be notable enough, but can you suggest what to do in case an upcoming tech is not yet covered by CNN, BBC etc.? Dhoom4 12:22, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks very much for your hints. Appreciated :) - will work on it and come back to you with drafts Dhoom4 13:02, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of Colayer
[edit]I have nominated Colayer, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Colayer (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. JaGatalk 21:44, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Colayer. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Colayer (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:47, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.
