UFO
[edit]The UFO incident has really taken place. This could be the start of a major incident, like what happened in Chicago or Stephenville. The Sacremento TV media, mainly "Air 10" is the one that found it while filming football games. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Avgn cnn news to me.PNG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Avgn cnn news to me.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Ref'ed content
[edit]The problem is that the refs don't back the claims made. The removed content and more detail is already at Talk:The Angry Video Game Nerd#Interview recycling, where I placed the removed content and explained why it was removed. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire - past ops) 18:52, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I missed the text on the comment page. We can use the interviews to show he is, at least, know outside the U.S. I haven't listened to the interviews for a long time, but I'm sure we can get it working. Gamers are a tad touchy of "attacks" on the AVGN - mainly due to the abuses of a guy on YouTube. There is a bit of a siege-mentality. Sorry if caused you problems.-DevinCook (talk) 19:02, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- But they don't claim that he is known outside of the US. We can't make inferences; we need to use it for what it says and nothing more. I'd love to see these interviews back into the article, just not in the way that they were. Good refs in the wrong spot.
- When we hew closely to the sources, anything else sticks out like a sore thumb, so attacks (other than properly sourced criticism, I suppose) just fall away naturally. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire - past ops) 19:05, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Avgn back to the future.PNG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Avgn back to the future.PNG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Closedmouth (talk) 09:09, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Vermont's seal and coat of arms
[edit]Hi, I want to point out that the Great Seal of Vermont does not use color. While a lovely colorized version exists here on wiki, it is not official. The Office of the Secretary of State maintains standards for its limited display and is explicit in black and white reproduction. By contrast, the Coat of arms of Vermont, a more naturalistic arrangement of many of the same elements in the great seal does exist in color, and the specific colors are described by Vermont statute in an 1840 armorial description. The creator of the colorized seal here on wiki, sites an online source, originating on a sub-page of the U.S. Embassy in Germany. That link shows a different color version than what is displayed here. with the colors, matching 1840 description of the coat of arms.
I note your work on a digital version of the Flag of California. The original typeface on that flag varied dramatically until the early 20th century. Most always depicted as a sans serif, a particular typeface was not designated, as most flags were hand-painted on silk. A square-cornered rectilinear sans serif has been consistently used since the 1920s. An exact digital match does not exist but a version called Agency Gothic Light comes quite close. CApitol3 (talk)
Central Valley
[edit]Hi there, I've just joined the California Wikiproject. I'm dropping you a note because I notice you're interested in the Valley. I am interested in working with a group of editors to improve the Central Valley's Wikipedia presence. For example, the Central Valley (California) article is assessed "top importance" but has the lowest possible quality rating. It's ripe for re-thinking. If you're willing to help with ideas or writing, then by all means drop by the project talk page: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_California. Thanks! ferretstew (talk) 09:23, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Alaskan Flag
[edit]Hi, I'm not sure if you're watching the Alaska page, so I'll post this here and there.
Thanks for working on the flag. The standard proportions seem unavailable online, and seem not to matter much. Flags are sold in 3 x 5, 4 x 6, and 5 x 8 sizes, which are only roughly equivalent. The stars, however, are designated as "the color of natural yellow gold." The current color seems too yellow. Yopienso (talk) 15:26, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:Oregonian New Flag Contest Winner.svg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Oregonian New Flag Contest Winner.svg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Image Screening Bot (talk) 02:17, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Governor's Flags
[edit]Thanks fro your work as well. I just didn't like them down at the bottom like that without a mention. But what you've done is good. I would suggest perhaps though, that you could make a collective page for US Gubernatorial standards, similar to the page for the U.S. Presidential Standard, or the Flags of the Governors of the Australian states, which would show all of them together, and some info. I don't think there's enough info on them though for each to have it's own individual page. Unfortunately, it appears they're not used very often, and in some cases, the Governor's offices don't even know they exist anymore, but according to state legislation, they do exist. Atleast now that they're on Wikipedia, the people will know about them. If you wanna create that page some time, you can find all of the Standards on the Commons here. Thanks again. Image copyright problem with File:Dragon's Lair (NES).png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Dragon's Lair (NES).png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
