Getting more Wikipedia rules
Getting Help
Getting along
Getting technical
I was somewhat familiar with Wikipedia before, but this class definitely gave me a deeper knowledge of the site. I enjoyed the first two labs very much. I liked setting up my own page and exploring the site to see what other people had done. It was interesting to see how much work some people had put into not only their individual pages, but the entire website. I even had someone that I didn’t even know, help me with the formation of my own page. I definitely know now that this website is taken very seriously by many individuals. It serves its purpose as well, by openly offering a surplus of information on several different topics.
However, as we encountered labs three and four, I thought the assignments became very monotonous and required a large amount of time for each one. It just really seemed as if it was all stretched out too much and it really took a lot of the fun out of the assignments. Now, I know that all work is not meant to be enjoyable, but I really felt that these labs were meant to be educational and fun at the same time. There were definitely areas that I was interested in and enjoyed learning more about through Wikipedia, but I found it very difficult to find pages that I could make major edits on. This, to me, is definitely a credit to the quality of the site, but caused me a few problems when trying to complete the labs. The fact that I had so many other assignments in other classes and the labs from this class consumed so much time, made me start to dislike the idea of wiki-labs altogether. Nevertheless, I do not think that getting rid of the labs altogether is what needs to necessarily happen, but instead, I think the next class should just have 2 or 3 labs and they should not be too detailed. The whole concept of becoming familiar with Wikipedia through required assignments is not a bad notion at all, it probably just needs some modifications to be made even more effective.

Ryan - those are quite interesting comments. If you'd like for them to receive higher visibility, perhaps you would consider posting them at WP:SUP's talk page? PS. I took the liberty to format your post so it would look like I think you intended it to look.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  02:52, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fraternities and sororities

[edit]

There is an article on fraternities and sororities and it has a section regarding pledging one of the NPHC organization. The info is incorrect and I'm not sure where they obtained this info. can you reveiw the text at Joining a black fraternity; then go to the talk page and provide your knowledge whether this is how NPHC member conduct pledge programs?
