Welcome! / Usha
[edit]First of all, welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions! I saw your questions at User talk:Example, which I removed because the page is not exactly the appropriate place for that. There are several other ways to ask for help. The general (and most simple) way to do this is by placing {{helpme}}
on your talk page, after which someone will show up shortly to answer questions. As I am here now anyway, I'll answer yours.
You asked the following:
- "What is the process of saving this page to wikipedia on a permanent basis?"
- An entity can have an article on Wikipedia when it is notable. There are several guidelines on Wikipedia specifying when exactly someone or something is notable. For singers, like Usha, there is Wikipedia:Notability (music). Don't let all those criteria on that page discourage you however. A singer doesn't really have to meet all of them. He/She does have to meet most points though.
- "What are the steps to ensure that her name comes up when someone types "Usha" in the search box of wikipedia. Presently it does not come up..."
- When searching for "Usha" on WP, you'll find the page Usha. This article is a so-called disambiguation page. You might want to add a link to Usha (singer) to that article.
- "Can I re-direct for any closely matched searches like "Usha Singer" or any other combination..."
- There is a guideline for creating redirects as well, called Wikipedia:Redirect. They are generally used for abbreviations, common misspellings or alternative spellings etc.
So the redirect Singer usha is not exactly allowed.You said here that Usha is famous and renowned as "Singer Usha", so...
I hope this helped. If you have any more questions, let me know. Cheers, Face 14:50, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Thank you for your message, and sorry for my slow reaction. I was busy yesterday doing homework. Anyway, I saw you already asked some other wikipedians at the helpdesk, and I hope your remaining questions have been answered. User:Anakin101 also mentioned two good points I failed to notice. First, the article had no categorizations, so I've have added one: Category:Telugu playback singers. I'm sure there are more categories in which Usha fits. Second, Anakin noticed that Usha's website calls her "Singer Usha". If this is her usual name, then maybe the page should be retitled to that. I do not believe that this is really how she wants to be called however...
If you are interested in further developing the article, you might want to take a look at other articles. One particularly well-developed text for example is the one about Ilaiyaraaja, an Indian film composer and playback singer. Cheers, Face 12:54, 7 January 2008 (UTC)- Hi Devarakonda, per your request on the Help Desk, I have moved the page to Singer Usha and updated the disambiguation page and links. If you need any more help feel free to ask again. • Anakin (contribs • complaints) 00:45, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
