Re: Is it justifiable.....?

[edit]

Hi! The article S. Jithesh was unreferenced and was deleted per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/S. Jithesh. Then it was recreated and was speedy deleted according to the policy. The alleged sockpuppetry/meatpuppetry[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3AAdministrators%27_noticeboard%2FIncidents&diff=84451988&oldid=84448007 ] second deletion nomination (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/S. Jithesh (2nd nomination)) only raised doubts. That was my reason for protecting the page to avoid recreation of the article.

The links provided by you are as follows:

  • [1]: This is a directory, which anybody can join and add/update his/her profile (From the site: "It is FREE without photos and Rs.100 with photos")
  • [2]: Again, anybody can sign up and create a profile here.
  • [3] is a personal page hosted at Tripod, a free web-hosting service
  • [4] is a personal page hosted at Geocities, a free web-hosting service
  • Chintha.com: I'm not sure about this one. But from the website: "Chintha.com depends heavily on the resources of many voluteers. They are contributing their time and energy to create content"

However, since you say that S. Jithesh is famous in Kerala, I've dropped a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Kerala. If the person is indeed notable, I (or some other admin) will unprotect the page and allow creation of article with references. utcursch | talk 13:22, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lame excuses of an Administrator

[edit]

User:Utcursch doesn't know Malayalam...!So he had to consult with other Kerala wikies before taking a hasty step. Answer to all the above raised Questions by User:Utcursch is there in the Desabhimani Daily's and Samakalika Malayalam Weekly's cuttings. I have uploaded the scanned copies of the newspaper in Talk:S. Jitheshpage and in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Kerala. Please visit the pages. Who can judge the notability of a Malayali Cartoonist...? We malayalees or a person who does't know Malayalam....? He had to take our opinions into consideration.Atleast the opinions of User:Kjrajesh, User:Raghu.kuttan,I and you since our major contributins are on related subjects. These type of deletions will blacken the credibility of wikipedia. As we all know there are only a few editors in Kerala wikipedia who are interested in the editing of Art and literature related subjects. All who love Malayalam literature know that www.chintha.com is a popular Malayalam Online Magazine. All the writers featured in that online magazine are notable. One is a Njanapeed Winner. Some others are Padmasree winners. Can he say that all are notable, except one! I'm Sure all the Malayalees will laugh at such stupid deletions. I think Art lovers of Kerala will laugh at wikipedia if it's going in this way...! Ego clash between editors will hinder the improvement of this site. Let the experts to comment on art related subjects.?  Nileena joseph (Talk|Contribs) 16:35, 13 November 2006 (UTC)hi hello[reply]

Malayalee

[edit]

Hello,

There's a problem in the Malayalee article. The points of contention are the following:

  • Dayaanjali doesn't want the article to mention that marumakkathayam (matrilineality/matrifocality) were practiced by the Nairs. i.e., as a community, Nairs were known to be matrifocal/matrilineal, and a martial class.
  • Dayaanjali insists the the words "Malayali" comes from the Malayalam words Malai and Aali. Historically, the region has been known as Malayalam before the genesis of the Malayalam language. Hence, the words probably originated from old Tamil. He also seems to think that Malayalam originated independently of Tamil, whereas (facts aside) all linguists state that Malayalam split off from Tamil about 800 AD or 900 AD.

Since you are active in Kerala-related articles, I request you to take a look at this matter. Dayaanjali seems unwilling to discuss changes in the talk page. Initially we had a discussion. I provided references to support my points. After this, he has refused to discuss the points, claiming that my edits are "unverified". The discussion is here. --vi5in[talk] 06:38, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I firmly believe that Malayalam developed independently having more influence from Tamil. Having said that, the language has similarities with other languages in south india. It has loaned words from sanskrit and many foriegn languages. Its grammatic styles are similar to Tamil. Script is more similar to Tulu Script. Even then You cannot call it new language. The people of malabar cost was using languague which was different from Tamil even during Sangam period, though part of same kingdoms as that of present day Tamil Nadu. The people are different, the culture is different, the script is different. The words Mala and ali are there in many languages in south india and foreign languages like Sinhala, Thai etc. Its not known where the words come any paryicular language. And about customs of Nair cast, its not specific to nairs. More than that this is not the article that you can list out all the customs and tradition of aparticular community. You have a separate article where you can add details.

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you!
