User talk:Dessydes/Archive1
Hi
[edit]Hi I'm new to this. Thanks for the positive feedback. I really want to contribte. Both articles were part of Baguazhang. I was hoping the author of that page would link it to mine.
- Hi, changed Gong Bao Tian's category to Category:Chinese wushu practitioners now. I also put the Qing gong article in the see-also section of Baguazhang, if you think there's a better place in the article for it (like I said, I'm not very familiar with the subject), feel free to move it. Basically, you can, and should, edit any page you can find, if you think there's something you can improve. There's a guideline called Be bold somewhere, which covers that in larger extent.
- And like the other guy said, the four tildes go after your messages in talk pages, such as this. They get replaced with your signature and the time (like in my messages), so that people can easily find who made the comment, if there's need to contact them or something. - Bobet 12:55, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
4 tildes question
[edit]Regarding your question on your user page about when to use the 4 tildes, you use them whenever you make a comment (for example on article talk pages or other users talk pages or when you vote on something). You do not use them on the actual articles themselves. Hope that helps. CheekyMonkey 11:42, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:MasterHEChing1.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:MasterHEChing1.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 13:49, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Qing Gong Image
[edit]Dear Carnildo, I picked up the image and information from a public forum, and I have not found it anywhere else, internet or otherwise. I doubt that it violates any copyright, and I try where possible in writing articles to e-mail sources to verify copyright information. Like I stated on the talk page, if you google the image name, you come across the original forum from which I got my information. Anyway, thanks for informing me. Does Wikipedia have a copyright template for an image from a forum, whose copyright is uncertain? Dessydes
- Yes, but the copyright templates are all variations on "delete this image". Images on Wikipedia need to have clear copyright status. --Carnildo 08:12, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
My apologies...
[edit]Greetings, and thanks for letting me know how you felt about what I said. I was trying to come up with a funny comment in aid of making a point and I'm sorry that it came across as sarcastic, that wasn't my intention. You are correct that talk pages are appropriate for opinions, and that articles aren't. I was being overly zealous I suppose, and I'm sorry it sounded the way it did. If you look at the history of most of our martial arts articles (especially those about people named Bruce!), you'll see we get a lot of editors who want to extol the virtues of their favourites with sometimes too much enthusiasm, so I wanted to give you a heads up on how to get info in about a martial arts subject without it being reverted. I've actually met Bruce Frantzis and his students a few times, so perhaps that is why I went on a bit (especially with a feeble attempt at humour regarding my authorship of articles about me). I hope this helps and I look forward to hearing from you (or at least seeing your contributions) in future. Cheers, --Fire Star 21:48, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Martial arts project
[edit]There are actually several martial arts projects, I believe. I've contributed a little to them, and it is only my fault that I haven't done more. I've no complaints at all against the other editors, but I think the lack of input from me is a by-product of how traditional martial artists, especially from different styles, tend to be reticent with each other in their public communications. Out of politeness, naturally. Dive in and see how you get on! Cheers, --Fire Star 03:41, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Hey!
[edit]Hello! Sorry I didn't see the message you left me until just now. :) pfctdayelise (translate?) 05:55, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I just saw the barnstar you gave. Thank you, it's appreciated. - Bobet 13:11, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Edit summaries
[edit]I almost reverted one of your edits thinking it was page blanking vandalism, when in fact you were archiving a talk page. Looking through your other edits I see that your edits are good, but you generally don't use edit summaries. Please try to use them more often in the future, thanks. — Apr. 4, '06 [12:04] <freakofnurxture|talk>
There is a javascript tool that generates automatic summaries based on your edit. It's not perfect, but it's always better than a blank line. Let me know if you are interested in it. — Apr. 4, '06 [12:28] <freakofnurxture|talk>
Ok, see User:Dessydes/monobook.js. I copied a bunch of crap from somebody else's monobook. You can look through it, and edit it, try to figure out what each item does, and remove the stuff you don't want. You have to refresh your browser's cache each time you edit it, for the changes to take effect. Most browsers, you hit ctrl-F5 on the keyboard after saving the page, so do that now and see what you think. — Apr. 4, '06 [12:54] <freakofnurxture|talk>
I see you got the script to work. Let me know if you need any help with it, or anything else. — Apr. 4, '06 [20:23] <freakofnurxture|talk>
Much Obliged
[edit]I thank you kindly for your comments about my userpage. Yours is also quite nice. If you find any heavily redlinked pages that you are trying to stubify, let me know and I am there. Hasta luego. CharacterZero 20:46, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
Erik Johnson, AfDs and redirects.
[edit]Hi, the "redirect" that you fixed on Erik Johnson was part of a join nomination AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Seren Anturia that was in the process of being created. I have pointed the link back to the joint AfD, causing the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Erik Johnson to become orphaned. May I suggest that you put a {{db-author}} speedy deletion request on it.--blue520 10:23, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello there. You have proposed the article Adroit for deletion without providing a reason why in the {{prod}} template. You may be interested to know that you can add your reasoning like that: {{prod|Add reason for deletion here}}. This will make your reasoning show up in the article's deletion notice. It will also aid other users in considering your suggestion on the Proposed Deletions log. See also: How to propose deletion of an article. Sandstein 21:03, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
