Mixed Up Everything

[edit]

When you look at the information I included in this article along with the citations and references it's easy to see this is a legitimate band. Their album "Ex-Nihilo" has been acknowledged by really popular mainstream bands; I'm getting very frustrated with people deleting the album and deleting the main page. This is just completely wrong and they are a legitimate band. Wikipedia is about creating articles for actual events and actual groups which this band is.

They are a young band and have not had a lot of media exposure at this point. Which a lot of young bands have to deal with and so sometimes fans try to create wikipedia pages for these bands to add a way for them to gain more exposure and allow more people to discover the band.

This is something that I will not stop advocating for and Wikipedia will be contacted themselves (I've already sent an email). Nobody has the right to delete this page or even think that it should not exist. Derricklasaga (talk) 15:04, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Getting exposure for bands is not the purpose of Wikipedia (see WP:NOTADVERTISING). Advertising or promotion is strictly not allowed. ... discospinster talk 15:21, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ex-nihilo (album) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Ex-nihilo (album), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 15:18, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A page you started (Ex-nihilo album) has been reviewed!

Thanks for creating Ex-nihilo album, Derricklasaga!

Wikipedia editor SkyGazer 512 just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

I've looked around a bit for sources, and this doesn't seem to meet the notability guidelines for albums or the general notability guideline, so I've redirected it to the band's page instead.

SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 19:34, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You may not vote twice. Leave the strike-through. ... discospinster talk 16:21, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted the last comment so I have one vote in there. You are not permitted to strike out my one allowed vote at this point so please do not do so. I am still learning how the parameters of Wikipedia editing works and so i do apologize for removing the strike out. But it is pretty disheartening when a band that has this much recognition, has been written up by very reputable means, been played on radio, been recognized by multiple internationally famous bands, are on tour and being interviewed by Dieter Dieks (producer for the Scorpions) https://twitter.com/MixdUpEvrything/status/1036286503574495234. have released their own debut album is still not worth keeping here. Isn't the main point of having a band article here due to the fact that they are noteworthy? Also, the band meets 3 criteria for being permitted to have an article so why is a vote jusitified?--Derricklasaga (talk) 16:33, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've released several albums, I have been written about in reliable sources, I have played live sessions on BBC Radio and I get a royalty statement via email every six months. Yet I don't have a Wikipedia article about myself, and I don't want one. It really doesn't make a jot of difference to a band if you have one or not. However, bear in mind that an article about a group is not necessarily a good thing. Somebody can come along and change it to be a hit-piece on the band when you're not looking. Or it can get vandalised. Or if, heaven forbid, one of the group gets busted for drugs, it gets logged and stored on the internet for all eternity. Is that really what you want? You need to think about what you are doing, and the potential harm you are causing, giving this is an article about minors. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:25, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The band themselves must have come accross the article and got in contact with me, coincedentally, and thanked me for creating the article. Todd, who is 18 stated to me that he is of legal age and wants the article created. Look, if people around here feel so strongly that the article should not be up because it's too soon then.... well... does wikipedia have like a "hold until later" status or a "WP: Hold" or something? i'd agree to that being a fairly negotiated middle ground here. We may be irritated with this whole situation and I do apologize if that is the case but this band does have enough coverage and accomplishments to warrant having an article about them.--Derricklasaga (talk) 21:33, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If the article gets deleted as a result of the discussion, the deleting administrator will usually be amenable to copy the article into a userspace where it can be kept so the text and history isn't lost. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 22:54, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we have to agree on a point in the bands progress and media coverage where we say "Well, they have performed with famous acts, they have two albums out now, they've been covered and written up a lot and they have songs charting on the radio. We can't deny the article at this point." If we all can agree that the article gets published when the band hits that point then I'll agree to holding if off. But I don't consider waiting until the youngest (Koby, 14 this year) is 18. that's 4 years and a lot of bands release 2 albums in a period like that. They obviously feel comfortable being open with the media so i think mainstream breakthrough (like the examples i listed above here) would be the marking point where the article is created.--Derricklasaga (talk) 03:07, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Inwire

[edit]

Hi, I'm Doomsdayer520. Derricklasaga, thanks for creating Inwire!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Thanks for your new article on the album "Inwire". If you can find any more reviews or other media notice about that album specifically, that would certainly help the article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
