Capitalisation
I just wanted to point out that in terms of Warriors, the word "Clan" is almost always capitalised. Eg. The Clan went to the Gathering; ThunderClan was waiting on the island.
Thanks, Brambleclawx 16:23, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I only thought about capitalizing the "c" in ThunderClan and not The "clan" Derild4921 (talk) 16:44, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. A lot of people make the mistake. Brambleclawx 16:47, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks!
Hey, I'm Airplaneman. I just wanted to thank you for your work on Wikipedia, especially on the Warriors series! It's great to see not all new editors are vandals :D (plenty are). Happy editing, Airplaneman ✈ 22:52, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thx, I can't understand why people just vandalize Wikipedia, Wikipedia is a great idea and never done anything bad to anyone. What do vandals have against us? Derild4921 (talk) 23:02, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- Vandals enjoy the thrill of misinforming. They like to think "HAHA! I just convinced the world that wolves eat potatoes!" It makes them feel superior, as though they are "hacking" Wikipedia. Brambleclawx 19:00, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
Herbs
I remember, a while ago, you requested that we add a list of herbs to the Warriors page. I've been thinking a bit, and I think it's better not to include one, and rather, use the warriors wiki far the list of herbs. They have a very detailed list, that is very well maintained by their editors. The reasoning behind this decision is because I believe that the list of herbs might be seen as fancruft by others. Brambleclawx 00:38, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- I understand, if people need to know such specific information, it would be easier to go to the warriors wiki Derild4921 (talk) 01:52, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Red links
Hey, thanks for your awesome Warriors work! I randomly saw your red link removal while looking through the history of the Warriors page. Red links aren't necessarily bad and should only be removed if the article linked doesn't have any potential to be created. See WP:REDDEAL for more info. - Oh.....I read it wrong them...sorry! Derild4921 01:28, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for signing up for the July Backlog Elimination Drive! The copyedit backlog stretches back two and a half years, all the way back to the beginning of 2008! We're really going to need all the help we can muster to get it down to a manageable number. We've ambitiously set a goal of clearing all of 2008 from the backlog this month. In order to do that, we're going to need more participants. Is there anyone that you can invite or ask to participate with you? If so, we're offering an award to the person who brings in the most referrals. Just notify ɳorɑfʈ Talk! or Diannaa TALK of who your referrals are. Once again, thanks for your support! Derild, I'd like to thank you so much for helping me out with WikiProject Warriors! You've taken a nice chunk of the workload of sifting through each Warriors edit to verify it's accuracy, something that I used to do pretty much by myself (with occasional help). Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it! (especially since now is a time where I am busier) Brambleclawx 01:24, 16 June 2010 (UTC) |
- Thanks for the barnstar! Hopefully Warriors can make to GA soon! Derild4921 01:27, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Ranger's Apprentice
I've actually only read the first 3 books. I just got the 4th and 5th and I'm starting on those. For now I'm just focusing on cleaning up all the awkward wording, once I catch up on all the books I'll try to improve the summaries too. Mrflabulous (talk) 06:54, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
don't worry about it, I was actually going to ask you the same thing, since we already have a page dedicated to all the characters I feel like the page would be better served if the main page only listed characters that appear in most, if not all, the books. Lets both make a list of the characters we feel are important then we can remove the rest and improve whats left. Mrflabulous (talk) 04:25, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mrflabulous/Sandbox I went ahead and copied what I think should be left on into my sandbox, what do you think of that? Mrflabulous (talk) 04:53, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Not at all! I appreciate that, I thought the brackets only affected actual articles I wasn't aware I could use them for things like my sandbox, I'll work on whats in my Sandbox (like that? heh), today and try and get it article worthy. Mrflabulous (talk) 21:29, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Please feel free! We're in this together after all, I just more or less rewrote the section on Will, I was having trouble working a few things into it though; Tug, his love for Alyss, and the line about him being like a son to Halt, take a look at it and if you can improve it at all go right ahead. Mrflabulous (talk) 22:10, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Hey, got a little behind in life or I would have replied sooner, I think how the live article is now is good, maybe some rewriting for clarity and encyclopediac style, if needed it can be expanded into its own page "locations in ranger's apprentice" or something like that. Mrflabulous (talk) 23:27, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
The Emperor of Nihon-Jin section definitely needs a look, its written a bit too much like an ad or back cover summary, but having not read that far in the series yet I can't really do much for it Mrflabulous (talk) 23:35, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Just realized Nihon Jin isn't even out yet, if we can't get a better summary up there I think it might be better to exclude it from the main article until a good one can be written. Mrflabulous (talk) 23:48, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I'll start compiling some stuff tonight and hopefully get it up there tomorrow, I will be pretty busy though so I can't make any promises. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrflabulous (talk • contribs) 00:01, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
I'll be honest, I'm not really experienced with citing things. I've never contributed anything that needed a cite, I usually stick to clean up and other such tasks. Mrflabulous (talk) 23:57, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Alright thats really helpful thanks, I'm starting to read sorcerer in the north now, if i still have enough of my paycheck left after groceries i'll pick up siege of macindaw and maybe Erak's ransom to help out there. Mrflabulous (talk) 00:38, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
I just noticed this having started on sorcerer of the north. "Will was an apprentice throughout the books The Ruins of Gorlan, The Burning Bridge, The Icebound Land, Oakleaf Bearers and Erak's Ransom. The first four books tell the story of Will's first two years as an apprentice while Erak's Ransom told about Will's final mission as an apprentice." Not only does that contradict with this "Will takes on his first mission as a full Ranger throughout the books of The Sorcerer in the North and The Siege of Macindaw." but in sorcerer of the north it clearly states Will is on his first mission, and that 5 years have passed since the battle in skandia, I'm not really sure what the best way to rephrase it to be accurate would be, but i'll give it a shot. Mrflabulous (talk) 06:08, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Ah, nevermind, the way Erak's ransom is positioned chronologically threw me off, I reverted my changes. Mrflabulous (talk) 06:13, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

can I ask why you undid this anon edit?

- I was checking for edits needing reviews and I stumbled upon this one. I wasn't sure whether it was real or not and felt it doesn't seem right for some one's goals scored and CAPS to drop so I changed it back. I apologize for making that mistake. Derild4921☼ 21:25, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- OK. For the future, please always use edit summaries so that others can understand your changes, and please don't just undo an edit because it is marked "pending"; if you don't know whether a change is constructive or destructive, then just leave it for someone else to review, it's always better to get it right, and with a pending change we actually have some time since it isn't publicly viewable right away.
No need for an apology, this is still a very new feature and we're all not used to it yet, and don't how to best use it.
Cheers, Amalthea 08:42, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I recently had the article Road to the Multiverse copyedited by two GOCE members, as the article is currently at peer review, and I hope to get it to FA status somewhere along the line. The article recently underwent a significant expansion, which did happen before the two copyedits of the article, but I was wondering if you could give the article one last look over, in order to prevent any quarrels about grammar, spelling, etc. at peer review. The article is currently listed on the GOCE requests page, so it should count towards the July drive. Thanks. Gage (talk) 00:31, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

It's come to my attention that someone created A Clan in Need (the section heading explains how I knew). It's unreferenced, and likely to be deleted if it's not imporved soon. My editing levels are going to be lower this month, so if you happen to have the time, it would be nice to reference and add critical reception to that page. Brambleclawx 21:38, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

- Hi Derild, addressing your DYK nomination, it seems to meet almost all the criteria even though I haven't checked yet. However, the problem here is that the hook should not be about a fictitious happening, it must have some real-world connection. If you want it to be confirmed, you need to come up with a new hook for the article. It's getting urgent as the nomination might get deleted in a day's time, so I would appreciate if you settle it asap. Thanks! AngChenrui (talk) 09:49, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

GOCE Newsletter
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive! We have now passed the halfway point, so here's an update. Progress Report - Progress toward the targets has been good. 751 articles out of the approximately 1,600 we would like to get completed by the end of the month were done by July 15, so we will be very close to meeting the target for volume. However, we would like to clear all of the 2008 articles from the backlog, and there are still 892 left to do. Please consider choosing one of these older articles when looking for something to copy edit. If we focus our firepower we can completely wipe out 2008 from the queue. Participation Report - 95 people signed up for the July drive. This is a great result compared to May, when we had 36. However, in May only one person that signed up didn't do any copy edits, and in July only 59 of the 95 have posted any copy edits on the big board. The task may seem insurmountable but please remember that if all 95 participants copy edit just one article a day from now until the end of the month, we will eliminate 1,300 more articles from the backlog. So please consider participating at whatever level you can! All contributions are appreciated. This newsletter was prepared for the GOCE by Diannaa (Talk), S Masters (talk), and The Raptor Let's talk. |

I hope you placed a watch on my page, and you can see for yourself the immediate attacks I have been getting.
I followed the guidelines, of writing to the admins who within minutes deleted my site, but their response to my talk request for discussion have not been equally as quick as their destructive vandalism is. I was not certain if I should mention their wikipedia usernames here, or if it is easy to find out who the power hungry vandalist admins are, just by looking at my history of the page.
Why have you tagged it for a CSD A7? speedily deletion? I thought you were different?Robtencer (talk)

I received your note but please remember you can continue to add any material to the article. GA is not a "dead end". It's not fixed in stone and you can add, edit, and revise. Another option is to take it to "Article Reassessment" for further review. I'm not perfect and there may be some things I missed. Be careful about building lengthy plot summaries because there's a chance of crossing into copy vio. Congrats again on a well researched article! Please keep up with the Warriors series, because you're doing a great job! Susanne2009NYC (talk) 14:42, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
I have deleted this article, but under Wikipedia:CSD#A7 and not {{db-vandalism}} as you tagged it. Regards --Александр Дмитрий (Alexandr Dmitri) (talk) 18:45, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
WikiCup 2010 July newsletter
We are half-way through our penultimate round, and nothing is yet certain. Pool A, currently led by Sasata (submissions) has ended up the more competitive, with three contestants ( Sasata (submissions), Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions)) scoring over 500 points already. Pool B is led by Casliber (submissions), who has also scored well over 500. The top two from each pool, as well as the next four highest scorers regardless of pool, will make it through to our final eight. As ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Planning has begun for the 2011 WikiCup, with open discussions concerning scoring and flags for next year's competition. Contributions to those discussions would be appreciated, especially concerning the flags, as next year's signups cannot begin until the flag issue has been resolved. Signups will hopefully open at some point in this round, with discussion about possible changing in the scoring/process opening some time afterwards.
Earlier this round, we said goodbye to Hunter Kahn (submissions), who has bowed out to spend more time on the book he is authoring with his wife. We wish him all the best. In other news, the start of this round also saw some WikiCup awards sent out by Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions). We appreciate his enthusiasm, and contestants are of course welcome to award each other prizes as they see fit, but rest assured that we will be sending out "official" awards at the end of the competition. If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
