The King and I is at FAC

[edit]

Hi, Derek. The King and I has been nominated for FAC. I see that you have reviewed FACs in this area before. It would be great if you could take a look at the article and give comments at the FAC. Thanks for any time you could spare! -- Ssilvers (talk) 00:28, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly, SS. I'll take a look. -- Derek Ross | Talk 07:28, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pollaky in my upcoming book

[edit]

Hi Derek, I wanted to make sure to mention a new book I have written about once-famous real-life detectives. One of the chapters features our friend "Paddington" Pollaky. Brilliant Deduction: The Story of Real-Life Great Detectives will be officially released next month, though early sales of the hardcover edition have begun. Because your research into Pollaky was invaluable in pointing me to enough information to piece together (what I hope is) a decent chapter-length life of the man, I would very much like to present you with a copy. If you are interested, please let me know. Thanks again for your help as I was researching, and for all the outstanding work you've done on this topic! 108.88.196.41 (talk) 19:28, 28 January 2013 (UTC) Matt Kuhns[reply]

Why thank you, Matt. It's always a pleasure to receive kind comments like that. And yes, I would love a copy of your new book. Congratulations on finishing it and getting it published! I already have your email address, since you supplied it to me previously, so I will send you my address details. -- Derek Ross | Talk 19:48, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Well, I tried emailing you using the "mjkuhns@ohio.net" email addres which you mentioned previously. However it bounced with an "unknown user" error message. So you'll have to email me via Wikipedia's "E-mail this user" link which logged-in Wikipedia users can see on the menu bar beside this talk page. -- Derek Ross | Talk 19:40, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Whooops. Old account. Meanwhile, I've created a Wikipedia account, I think I've got it now... Mjkuhns (talk) 21:29, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You have indeed! Well done! -- Derek Ross | Talk 23:28, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Marbais, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Walloon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your user page

[edit]

Hi Derek, I have recently gained access to a January 2003 Wikipedia database dump and the ability to import edits from any wiki at all. With these two abilities, I have just restored the 2001 edits to your user page. Hope you don't mind. Among other things, I've also restored some missing edits of yours to Glasgow and James VI and I. Graham87 11:11, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers, Graham. I am always happy when you find missing edits for any page. Keep up the good work! -- Derek Ross | Talk 03:46, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

gd-Wiki

[edit]

Hi Derek, there is a request for you in WP.gd to usurp an exsisting acount. As we don't have a local policy, I would really like to hear your opinion as a Bureaucrat here Greetings Sionnach--88.77.137.236 (talk) 20:14, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Sionnach. I'll reply on gd. -- Derek Ross | Talk 21:49, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
