Denise, I saw your comments on Lukumí. In merging Lucumí, I think most of the article is now actually about the religion instead of the animal rights "debate". However, your comments suggest you know a bit more than I do on the subject and the community would greatly benefit from your input. Go ahead and edit the article yourself. As we say around here, be bold! -- Chris 20:27, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Just saw your response Chris. Have not been checking in - I have a break coming up in two weeks, for about a month and will edit the article ASAP. Denise

Young Lords

[edit]

Hi, welcome, I saw your comments on Talk:Young Lords: very glad to have someone here who should be considerably more knowledgable on this than me! I'd really love to see a good article there. If I can be of any assistance, just ask.

Also, please sign your comments on talk pages with ~~~~, which the software will automatically turn into a link to your user page and a datetime stamp. It makes it a lot easier to sort out who said what when. Thanks! -- Jmabel | Talk 00:31, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Have forgotten how to edit since I haven't been here for a while, the YLO/YLP page has changed a lot since my last visit and could use more work. I'll see what I can do

Your 1971 pamphlet

[edit]

Dear Mrs. Oliver-Velez

One of my hobbies is uploading old radical pamphlets onto the free online library archive.org. According to worldcat, which is an index to all the lbrary catalogs in the world (not really, but thats what they are aiming for) there were three pamphlets published by the young lords, one of them, the Ideology of the Young Lords, i've already uploaded; one a collection of resolutions of their 2nd Party congress, and one about the Young Lords stance on women, written by yourself.

http://www.worldcat.org/wcpa/oclc/80159541&tab=details

The worldcat entry says your pamphlet was 7ps and was titled When you look to any group to find out who's the most oppressed, it's always gonna be the women. While i havn't found anything with that precise title online, I have a feeling it could be the pdf on the below link:

http://palante.org/Women.htm

Or perhaps one of the pdfs on this site

http://younglords.info/

Could you please tell me if one of these pdfs is your pamphlet and, if so, may I please have permission to upload the pamphlet onto archive.org?

Sincerely, Jonathan

PS You wouldn't happen to know where I could find a copy of Resolutions and speeches of the 1972 young Lords Congress would you?

--Dudeman5685 (talk) 20:28, 7 June 2008 (UTC) Hi Jonathan - I believe that might be one of the chapters from the Palante book. I will take a look and see.[reply]

Dear Ms. Velez, I like your comment from the NYTimes. The hockey mom is common in MI. Folksy is a good word that has been described by evaluators, including the NYTimes from what I recall. Booker T. Washington is a great noble symbol of someone whom contributed to America and it's society. Palin is not, nor should be mentioned. She is the polar opposite of it. She is blah. Even at times to the average working man. I am in aww from someone in the Black Panthers! Thank you for your comments. -Steve Iwankovitsch http://community.nytimes.com/article/comments/2008/10/10/opinion/10brooks.html?s=3

would love your collaboration

Contests

[edit]

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:15, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Attention: WikiProject African diaspora participants

[edit]

Hello fellow project participants. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well. With more communication amongst participants and a dedication to addressing the articles on the to-do list I believe we can make this WikiProject one of the most well organized and thorough on the site. If you are interested in collaborative work with some of your fellow project members, have certain expertise on any particular subjects, ideals on/about the WikiProject, etc. simply drop your name under the "Project revision" section I've created on the project's talk page and state your intentions and main points of interest in our WikiProject and we can attempt to move forward from there. Hoping to hear from everyone soon! WikiGuy86 (talk) 03:20, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
