You are welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but you are not allowed to use this site to promote your music career. Ian.thomson (talk) 22:48, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Autobiography

[edit]

You have posted a message on my talk page. I have some difficulty in understanding it, but it appears to be asking how you can write about yourself and your music in Wikipedia. The answer is that you cannot. If you wish to add, or remove, something from an article about you, you should post a comment on the article talk page asking that another editor, if they agree, will post the comment. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:34, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Orange Mike | Talk 01:16, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Orangemike: Diddaler is the same user. Do we let them off with a warning? Ian.thomson (talk) 15:55, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Orangemike: @Ian.Thomson: I would suggest that a block is more appropriate, but as I have already been extensively involved I would prefer that another admin makes the decision.----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:36, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Before we unblock we will have to deal with the sockpuppetry. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:07, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I had no intention to unblock until not only the socking but also the lack of understanding as regards autobiography had been addressed. Consideration of posts made so far from this account suggests to me that there is a major competence issue.----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 09:32, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
