WikiProject Malta
[edit]Dear Demdem, Because of your activity and/or contributions to articles/pages related to the island nation of Malta, I, member of WikiProject Malta am here to ask you if you would be interested in becoming a member of the project. It is a relatively new wikiproject, and we need as many members as we can get; you would be a valued addition to the list of members. If you are interested in getting involved, then please do sign, because your contributions to the effort would be infinitely appreciated. Inkwina (talk · contribs)
Pro-Italian Maltese
[edit]Hi Demdem, I read your message in the talk page of Pro-Italian Maltese and I'm interested in improving the article. What do you think needs to be done? I'd suggest starting by removing the unsourced parts, but I wanted to hear your opinion before doing anything radical. Let me know, ciao!--Ultimate Destiny (talk) 06:18, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
In fact, after examining the article more carefully, I can't find any redeeming value in it. The article, mostly penned by the many sockpuppets of Maltesemizzi or Maltitalia or whatever, mixes the actual history of Malta with revisionism, especially when it deals with the "anglicanisation" of the island. It overstates the influence of the fascist movement of Malta, when no evidence is provided that it ever involved more than a handful of people. Most of the article is unsourced, the only referenced part is a rambling section about the use of the Italian language in Malta and cultural similarities with Sicily (how's that related to irredentism, only he knows). In fact, the only reference which is even slightly on topic, is about the rivarly between Maltese supporters of the Italian and English football teams. I'd reccomend PRODing it, and if that fails, taking it to AFD.--Ultimate Destiny (talk) 06:50, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Pastizzi
[edit]I would appreciate it if you didn't keep reverting the pastizz article in favour of a wording that you personally prefer. As the user who started that article and has indeed made most contributions to it, I don't really appreciate you deleting parts of the article I have contributed, stating that they they are, to quote your edit summary "bla bla". That is clearly disrespectful. I think my edit puts the context of the popularity of pastizzi within a context which will create clarity for non-Maltese readers. Kont Dracula (talk) 21:07, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- The one instance of "bla bla" referred to "Such is the ubiquity of the pastizz at the heart of the Maltese psyche" which is clearly not in line with WP: PEA. As to the non-literal meanings, having only two can hardly be described as "multiple".
- And next time please take this matter to the article's talk page.
- I don't think you are in a position to make demands on other people when you feel justified in rubbishing their contributions. I take up these issues here because I have a problem with your constant desire to edit the article unnecessarily, purely for reasons of your own ego rather than because you are adding any value to it. Kont Dracula (talk) 00:10, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, yes I can made demands because this is my user talk page. And if it's your problem, don't bring it here. I'm not your therapist.
- Well you can certainly make demands, but as it was original rudeness which led me to your page in the first place, I don't know why you would expect people to respect such demands. It seems that you like to dish it out but are not so good at being on the receiving end. It's quite simple really - if you want respect from people, then don't be rude to them. Kont Dracula (talk) 12:14, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- Whatever led you to my page, you have overstayed. And I do not recall asking for personal advice, least of all from you. Now scram.
- Dear Kont Dracula
- I think I made it clear, more than once, that if you have an issue with how I previously edited a wikipedia article the place to discuss that would be the article's talk page not my user page. Not only did you ignore this, with your comments becoming more gratuitious and personal, you restored your last comment in violation of WP: HUSH.
- I have removed this comment, once more. Do not restore it.
Too much time you spend with one subject
[edit]Too much time you spend with one subject - Malta. History shows that it is unhealthy and leads to abnormal behavior (inability to neutral perceive in this topic). Get some rest. Subtropical-man (talk) 20:28, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
LUZ? see article: "Malta was admitted to the United Nations in 1964 and to the European Union in 2004. Malta is also party to the Schengen Agreement[13] and in 2008 it became part of the eurozone."
we use the abbreviations next to the full names? Ok, see: "Malta was admitted to the United Nations (UN) in 1964 and to the European Union (EU) in 2004. Malta is also party to the Schengen Agreement (SA) and in 2008 it became part of the eurozone". Reasonably? No! You lose any discussions with other users. Subtropical-man (talk) 20:39, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- First, any issues you have about my editing please take them to the article's talk page. Second, if I'll need lifestyle advice rest assured I'll ask for it. Highly unlikely it'll be from you, though.
- OK, I understand that your English is sub-standard so I'll say this very slowly.
- Do. Not. Post. Anything. On. My. User. Talkpage.
John Dalli
[edit]Stop vandalising this page with false content bent on assumptions and hearsay. Bendolt (talk) 09:45, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- Kindly note that, not only I have explained the rationale behind all my edits with every edit descriptor, I have also attempted to engage you civilly in the article's talk page. You have not chosen to respond to my invitation and instead accuse me of vandalism.
- As to the content itself, the text you are adding is either unsourced or a misrepresentation of what the sources I included say. This article is a biography of a living person and it should follow WP:BLPSTYLE.
- The John Dalli article is ridiculously biased and you have done some good work highlighting some of the issues there. I have added a NPOV tag to the article as it is clearly not fit for purpose in its present form. Wikipedia needs more contributions from people who are informed about Maltese language and culture so maybe we can work together on some articles in future. To be honest, it can be frustrating when people who are not knowledgeable about Malta engage in inaccurate or misguided edits without consulting contributors who very obviously better informed. I have just started a little article about Twistees. If you can think of any other references to add or improvements it would be appreciated. I am afraid there are many things which are important to Maltese culture that deserve inclusion on wikipedia, though it is always a battle. Obviously, we got off to a bit of a bad start here but hopefully we can put that behind us. Kont Dracula (talk) 09:09, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Misusing the term "vandalism" in edit summaries
[edit]As an experienced editor you should know better than to use the term "vandalism" in content disputes. This edit was not vandalism. Please refrain from such mislabellings in the future. Thank you. --Saddhiyama (talk) 12:32, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Philosophy in Malta
[edit]What are you doing cancelling names from the page? For one, the paragraph you removed (the second one of the "European Union Period (2004–Present)" section) is perfectly correct. Secondly, people might be justifiably very annoyed if their name at least is not mentioned in such an article concerning philosophical activity in Malta. Some of them will soon have to be listed with the other philosophers further down. So please consider well what you do here, and quit editing unnecessarily. As additions need supporting evidence, so must removals. You either justify the changes you make (as, indeed, sometimes you actually do) or let them be. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katafore (talk • contribs) 06:35, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- I stated quite clearly in the edit that it was done as per WP:NOTCRYSTALBALL. As to "removals" having to be supported as are inclusions, I'm afraid you are wrong (see WP:BURDEN).
What I am trying to tell you is that if you do not know perfectly well why you have to do some of the changes you made, don't do them at all or, ethically speaking, give your reasons. You are evidently not knowledgeable in this subject. So why do you keep meddling with it? When some of your changes - of a general or technical nature - were reasonable, I bowed my head to you. But, with regard content, please let this to people who know about it. --Katafore (talk) 08:04, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Philosophy in Malta again
[edit]I have noticed, once more, that you removed names you seem not to like from the page (such as that of Manuel Dimech). I will report such abuse if this nonsense continues! Let the page be. I do not know who you are, of course, but I am pretty sure you are not qualified to do some of the changes you're doing. So, if you think you know better, support changes with sufficient reasons, or else do nothing at all! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katafore (talk • contribs) 06:44, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Society of True Christians
[edit]You changed Society to Confraternity! I should not be explaining to you why the change is stupid. What I should be doing is reporting you for making changes without the necessary knowledge or qualifications.
The society was not a confraternity. The sociological composition of a confraternity is completely different from a society. This was a society of learning, and had nothing to do with confraternities. In fact, it was called a società, for that's precisely what it was.
Again I tell you: quit making changes which are amateurish and uninformed! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katafore (talk • contribs) 06:57, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Manuel Dimech
[edit]You removed any reference to Dimech being a philosopher. Please, stop showing how ignorant you are. You explained these removals by stating that "No evidence he was either poet or philosopher". How idiotic! You clearly show that you are not even well-read. Proof to this effect has been given, though I won't waste my time telling you where. I only have to tell to that I shall be reporting what you're doing here, for you shouldn't be allowed to meddle with things you are quite evidently ignorant of. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katafore (talk • contribs) 07:01, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- In case you hadn't noticed, I had opened a thread on the article's talk page, waited a month and, when no comments were forthcoming, proceeded with the change. A piece of advice if you intend to go ahead with "the reporting": drop the name calling, it's not usually viewed very positively.
I really do not care what thread you opened. All I know is that you are ignorant of the subject you presume to know how to edit. Having had no comments is no justification for proceeding with changes you are ignorant of. People like myself cannot check on pages day in, day out.
All I have to say to you is to stop making changes about subjects you know nothing or very little about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katafore (talk • contribs) 07:42, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Francis Saviour Farrugia
[edit]Why did you remove Francis Saviour Farrugia from all lists? With what authority or knowledge?
I have reported you to Wikipedia for irresponsible editing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katafore (talk • contribs) 07:27, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- As I pointed out in his article's talk page, based on what he did and the little that he wrote Farrugia would qualify as a jurist and a penologist not a philosopher.
This is not you for you to decide. What presumption! Let people who know something about this improve an article. Evidently, you are not one of them. So quit swimming in waters which are clearly not for you. Stop this nonsense of yours! --Katafore (talk) 08:04, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

On Manwel Dimech again
[edit]I saw that you objected to having Dimech called a poet, and thus arbitrarily removed any such claim from his article. Of course, I do not expect that you have seriously read enough about Dimech (v. my former comments re. his philosophy). Dimech's hundreds of poetic contributions have, as yet, not been published. I will not be so presumptuous as to talk of their artistic worth, for I am not competent in this field. That's why I leave this in other people's hands who are well-place to draw judgement. Evidently, you are not one of them, for you don't even know that such compositions exist, let alone deciding whether Dimech had the makings of a poet or not.
Please, do not edit his page again if you are demonstrably unqualified to do so. Thank you. --Katafore (talk) 08:38, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello Demdem. I wonder if you would be kind enough to spare me a couple of seconds of your time. My name is CharlieTheCabbie and I am active as a participant at the Malta WikiProject. I notice that you are listed as a member of the project. It appears to have been a long time since the project was active and, in the hope of fixing stuff, I am trying to hunt out all the editors who still interested in working on it. If you would be kind enough to go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Malta/Members and indicate whether you are still active or, if not, please move yourself to the Inactive Members section.
