User talk page
Hi. my user talk page on nepali wikipedia being longer day by day. What do i do to make it short? I don't want to delete all data. Nepaboy06:22, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- There are two generally accepted options here on English. The first option is to move your talk page to a subpage of your talk page - User talk:Nepaboy/Archive 1. The other option is to cut and paste the messages on your talk page into the archive. In the "move" option all of the edits people made would be found directly in the archive and the archive page's history. In the "cut and paste" option the page history for your talk page remains in one place but the content is shifted to another page. This page makes use of the "cut and paste". There is also the third option, to just clear the page and not make an archive. That would mean there is no easily read record of the content but it would still exist in the revision history of the page. This is allowed here but it is discouraged. I am not aware of any policy on NEWP so i can't say if something permitted here is not permitted there.
- If you want you can take a look at the structure of my archive. It is simple. This is the box up at the top User:Deliriousandlost/Talkarchives and it is dependent on templates that exist here but might not exist on NEWP. The primary template it uses is Template:Archive box collapsible. If you view the source for the template you will see a list of templates included in that template. To copy it you would need to copy all of the necessary templates from here to NEWP. As an alternative to that you could maybe create a custom user box. You would need to add Template:Userbox to NEWP. I was going to but i thought that it might be better if it were written in the language of the project rather than English. With this option there is only one template you need to copy. The following code would then give you the box below.

- If this sounds confusing i could help you set it up on NEWP later. I am going to sleep soon. 07:33, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Account Creation Interface
I am trying to register for access to the Account Creation Interface, but whenever I try to submit the form, it gets rejected and a message comes up saying that the requested username is already in use on Wikipedia (by me, of course). I noticed that you are an active administrator there, so can you help me fix this problem? 95j (talk) 17:34, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Once you have submitted a request the user name is in the interface. If you are declined then a you don't submit a new request via the interface but rather submit a request for a review of your application via the mailing list (reply to the email that was sent to you when you were declined). The wording is not the best in the default message used when someone is declined. Sorry for the confusion.
- I haven't really looked into yourself but the popups gadget shows you as having 329 edits. Normally we would look for a bit more unless those edits demonstrate a profound comprehension of relevant policy and interaction with your fellow users. I happen to be one of those who was approved with less than 1000 edits so it really depends on the person's record more than on how many edits they have to their name. I'll leave it up to you to decide if you want to make it a formal review of your application to join the team. If so please reply to the email you received.
- Sorry, I didn't realize that I had submitted an application at all. Seeing as I am nowhere near 1000 edits, I don't want a review of my application, but thanks anyway. 95j (talk) 19:30, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- The 1000 edits is just a nice round number that i wrote. It is not a fixed pass/fail number. I had just under 800 myself when i was approved, about 400 if which were on this account. Some people have enough editing history to pass an RfA. Some are already admins. Some became admins afterwards. Some like myself just appreciate the value of the behind the scenes work. Between my accounts this will make edit number 3012 on English Wikipedia when i click save. I would say to make use of rollback and (if you can ever find an opportunity to) reviewer too, make sure you understand the wikipedia:username policy and maybe get your feet wet at wikipedia:usernames for administrator attention too. Give it a month or two and then request a review.
- Sorry, I didn't realize that I had submitted an application at all. Seeing as I am nowhere near 1000 edits, I don't want a review of my application, but thanks anyway. 95j (talk) 19:30, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Taylor Mitchell Article Changes
Hello,
My name is Noel Webb and I am a close friend of Taylor's. I made the alterations to her page on request of her family. Please do not extrapolate on her death within this wiki as her family would like her to be seen as the loving caring musician she was and not due to her tragic death. Thank you for your consideration and understanding in this matter.
Best regards, Noel
please feel free to contact me at noel@bamproductions.ca if you have an issues with this. 15:50, 29 June 2010 (UTC))
- Well, i have to say this is not really unexpected. Cruelly ironic too since i was working on an article for Taylor Mitchell of-wiki in the very moment i found out that she had died. If not for her death the article would not have appeared October last and probably the version i was working on would have become filled out enough to have appeared on this wiki. I am going be to emailing per request.

Template
I create very simple template and when i add this template with any article, it shows all createria and field. If i dont fill any field it shows this {}. for example:
Name | Ganesh Kumar |
User Name | Nepaboy |
Language | {} |
User Wikipedia | Nepali Wikipedia |
Suppoge, It is a template and i am using it with an article. in Language field i have nothing put but the language field is appearing and front of that {} appearing. I want to hide both field what do i do? Nepaboy (talk) 13:39, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
- Templates are not that simple. I am guessing you created the one here based on the result of the template you made on NEWP because all that you wrote here is a right-aligned table. Complex templates are not my speciality but i will try. There are a lot of "if this, then that" to these templates.
- Would you be so kind as to give me a link to where you are trying to use this so i can see there what is happening. I don't know if this is for BHWP or NEWP. I looked in both projects but due to my inability to read the languages i can not find it there. It would be easier to fix if i can work with it where it is broken. AS the code for the template is in English it doesn't matter where it is, but finding the template is proving to be most difficult for me.
Ok. I am linking here the template and the article where it is used. To see the template click here.
And in this article it is used see: FIFA. Thank you. nepaboy00:17, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay. I keep getting distracted. What you made at ne:Template:संगठन is a table with a CSS class of "Infobox". That creates the appearance of a standard infobox however it is not really an infobox ny how it functions. Due to my prior difficulties with typing the language in a mess i am not going to edit it for fear of making it worse. Template:Infobox is the base template. From that is made all of the customised infoboxes for actors, films, sporting teams, musicians, and anything else. Take a look at the source code for Template:Infobox actor, Template:Infobox Organization and Template:Infobox company to see how an infobox with optional fields is created. This is going to have to be something where you study the code in English and translate it as needed, keeping in mind that the base template already has the parameters in English on NEWP as it is a standard template. If you want the code in the local language you would first need to change it in the base infobox template and make sure that every use of it in an article is corrected. If it helps you any the template that is used for FIFA here is Infobox Organization. Good luck. If you have any other questions hopefully i will remember to reply sooner.
Thanks for correcting my mistake. Nepab☺y (talk) 14:12, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
ACC Question
Note: This is merged from Joe Gazz84's talk page as i like to keep things together and he likes to reply on the user's talk page. Refactored to present the discussion with indenting as though it all was originally on one page.
Asking Fastily again to give you Account Creator rights [1] after he already declined to do so 8 hours earlier is not the way to go about joining the Account Creation Team. Fastily is a Wikipedia admin but he is not an Account Creation Team/Tool admin and as such he can not approve your request to work in account creation. FunPika, who is an Account Creation admin, has already said that he looks for users to have about 1000 edits and 3-6 months experience. If the edits demonstrate a clear comprehension of relevant policy i could accept a lower total edit count. While i see the points raised on FunPika's talk page [2] about your clean record and willingness to help requesting the account creator right [3] when you are not (yet) active in account creation is out of proper order. Account creator rights are given based on trust and demonstrated need.
To show comprehension of relevant policy you could patrol the new accounts log and report wikipedia:user name policy violations at wikipedia:usernames for administrator attention or/and you could review the guidelines at wikipedia:changing username/Simple/Assistance and study some of the more recent wikipedia:changing username/Simple/Archives and clerk at requests for changing user name. The only requirements for either WP:UAA or WP:CHU are that you know the policies, guidelines, and procedures before you do any editing in those areas. Participation in either or both of those areas are generally seen as good when reviewing an application to join the Account Creation Team.
You were advised to gain more experience before being reconsidered for the Account Creation Team. Stwalkerster also declined your application via email a little over two days ago. Sixty additional edits is not what was meant. At this time i too am declining your application.
- What I am doing now with the new usaers welcoming them and watching the new user log, does that look good in a review? Joe Gazz84 (user)•(talk)•(contribs) 10:58, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Properly reporting accounts that violate the user name policy to UAA or noting such on a change of user name request shows that you understand the user name policy, which is the fundamental policy we work with in Account Creation. Accounts created by the Account Creation Team have a "seal of approval" regarding the user name. Showing that you can spot the inappropriate ones that have been created by the users themselves or are requested at renaming and appropriately deal with them demonstrates that you can be trusted to not approve inappropriate user names. A few of us at Account Creation can also be found from time to time clerking at CHU or reporting names at UAA as we happen upon them.
- So you are saying watch the new user list and if there is a name that should not be there such as an inappropriate one I should report it and that shows that I can tell what a good name is and what is not. I think I understand that. I do not understand what I can do at the requests for changes though, that is where a user wants their name changed, correct? What can I do there? I appreciate you explaining WHY my app was denied and what I CAN do to get an approval. Thank you, Joe Gazz84 (user)•(talk)•(contribs) 11:36, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- At CHU non-bureaucrats review requests for any conflicts on other languages, check if a name is promotional, too similar to an existing account, or any other concern so that the user name get a response as soon as possible and so that the bureaucrats, who are the ones who perform the actual renaming of accounts, can have any concerns readily noted for them. For an example see my clerk note and the follow up from Excirial on the request from the user who primarily edits on Korean Wikipedia.[4] I made a very quick note so that bureaucrats would know the person primarily edits the language in which his user name is written in. Excirial followed up with options on what the person can do here to make it easier for other users. I provided a link to the CHU clerking rules/guidelines in my initial post; the page is titled "Assistance". Not every request to change names requires clerk notes or comments; they are only added when there is an issue that needs to be brought to the attention of the respective users being renamed or/and to the bureaucrats. While clerking there is open to anyone i do strongly urge you to review both the assistance page and some recent archives to see how things are done there before you look into clerking there. Incorrect clerking is not taken fondly as it can create more issues than initially brought the person to request a change of user name in the first place. Still, mistakes at CHU are usually more easily resolved than an error at Account Creation.
- Account Creation and Changing User name are similar in that in both you would review the request for any issues. At ACC you would grant or decline the request for the account while at CHU the bureaucrats make the final decision on granting or declining the request for renaming. Generally the same guidelines are followed at ACC and CHU. The guidellines at UAA are a bit different so please do familiarise yourself with them too. If you can show you know how to do one then it is likely you would be competent at the others as well.
- In assessing a request to join Account Creation Team we do not look at just a handful of edits or edit count alone. If someone has a lot of experience in something else that too is considered. A pattern of behaviour in working with user names usually takes a couple of months to clearly establish as you will not find user names to report to UAA or CHU requests to clerk everyday as someone else may have already done so in any particular instance. That is why the standard reason for declining an application includes suggesting taking a few months to gain more experience.
- Now that I have made contributions in the sections you told me to am I closer to getting access or am I ready (I am not asking for access, I just want to know). What else can I do? Joe Gazz84 (user)•(talk)•(contribs) 01:58, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- Barely and no. Call this a teaching moment. When you filed the UAA on Vanishingvinny you wrote, "Sounds like promoting a magician of some sort.." A quick google brought me to http://www.vanishingvinny.com which is not a personal website. You could have made a clearer statement as to why you were reporting user:vanishingvinny because, honestly, on its own that reads just like any other alliteration user name floating around the internet. UAA tends to deal with obvious violations. Gleepot, i honestly don't see the violation and without any edits there is no proof that it is. I say barely closer to getting access because you were told that you should spend a few months mixing this into your other contributions. That was yesterday morning (my time zone anyway) when we had that long conversation wherein i advised you on things you could do and now you ask me again less than 48 hours later. To be bluntly honest, i am one of the more lenient, generous ACC Team admins and even i am finding the asking "what about now" to be a bit much. I didn't know that you had also asked OverlordQ for access. You have so far asked 4 of the 18 ACC admins, plus Fastily a few times. Others are wondering if they will be asked next. My advice is to stop asking, get some experience at UAA, CHU, or another area, continue to improve articles too. Many reasons from various people have been give as to why "not now". When you are certain you have satisfied all of those reasons that is the time to ask for a review of your application to join the Account Creation Team.

boring = yes .... about the country we live in = no .... i disagree with the need to know French to be employable in Ontario. I disagree with changing the electoral system to indirect voting. I agree that really none of it matters since consensus at Commons is to tow the party line once elected. From your above comment i take it you support Dominion Day. Having had a fair bit of political wranglings earlier in the day it seems only proper to end with religion.
"do you not knowe þt the Pope is the very Antichrist, whiche the scripture speaketh of, but beware what ye saye, for if you shal be perceiued to be of that opinion, it will cost you your lyfe"[7]

Alphabetical List - Rookie Blue
The edit summary ran out of space so I didn't get a chance to say everything I wanted. Half of those articles I listed didn't even list the domestic, which leaves me wondering should we even bother to leave domestic in an international distribution section in the article. It is about international after all.
Here is a further list I have found that does not list domestic at all.
- Lipstick Jungle (TV series)
- NCIS (TV series)
- White Collar (TV series)
- The Closer
- Californication (TV series)
- Eureka (TV series)
- Royal Pains
- Cougar Town
- Rush (2008 TV series)
- Weeds (TV series)
- Cane (TV series)
- Flashpoint (TV series)
- Burn Notice - listed in edit summary
- Trauma (TV series) - listed in edit summary
- Mercy (TV series) - listed in edit summary
Here are the ones that I found listed domestic and listed them first
Here is a list of those who listed domestic but had them in alphabetical order
- Chuck (TV series) - listed in edit summary
- Reaper (TV series) - listed in edit summary
I suggest removal of domestic given its not the consensus to have it in something which is suppose to be international. Meowies (talk) 10:21, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- You made a list for me to clean up! Thanks. Well take out Canada if you really want to. My concern was more with merging things by release date when by far each country has their own independent entry. Some are listed as added but the ones on good articles are all alphabetical and so yes i made the list alphabetical. And by the way some of those are shows i have worked on.
Hi there! I just went to the list to correct the writing credit for episode 12 and saw that you had beaten me to it yesterday, and I saw your edit summary. I'm sorry about the edit conflict, and thank you for correcting the writing credit. I watched the episode again a little while ago, and I don't know how I didn't catch that. Again, sorry and thanks. - Oks. When i first started to watch over the main article it was a tiny little blip of a stub. If you want to make sure the episode info is correct then be my guest It now has enough people that i don't think i really need to check up on it so often anymore though i might keep it watchlisted because the vandalism there can at times be amusing and the subject of the show does lend itself to confusion about 'is the episode actually about that or is this another penis joke?'.
- If you want a tip, there is an article in the LA Times somewhere about THTORJB being MTV's hopes for saving the network. I found it a couple of months ago while looking for ratings for another show. Sorry, no link, but it is a fairly long article, i think 3 pages in the online version. I think it is from February or January.
- Lol, quite right. Yeah, I'm just trying to expand it while it's not in season.
- I just found that LA Times article. Thank you for the tip! Cliff smith talk 16:31, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- I am pretty certain that would be the one, though i see they changed their site design so it is now all on one page and there is less advertising.
- And on a barely related side note, as you would have noticed from the title of ep 12, i win for picking the correct frame. The German WP is one that i noticed went with a black frame, which is not present in ep 12. Cheers to me for getting it correct!
- While i enjoy the show i only got into it because of the odd title and finding the WP article lacked an image. So i downloaded, screencapped, and later watched. Repeated 11 times, the watching part anyway, and occasionally would fix little errors in the article. It is not a show i really got into so it is nice to know that someone is interested in making it more than an episode list and a massive character description. My little issue is that the show being available in Canada is both referenced and relevant for English readers - i am Canadian - so removing it en mass was a bit much. A list mostly of unreferenced "coming soon" i do not like. People in other lands do speak English and read ENWP so it is most plausible that one might look here to see if that show they heard about is available in Poland or Italy. If you were to compare most shows of English origin you would find that in most cases the ENWP article is more comprehensive than the Polish or Italian and will be read by people who can read English but live in Poland or Italy. True it is not really spelled out in any MOS. We have never really crossed paths before for you to be familiar with my thoughts on manuals of style. I view it as more of a courtesy to those wondering about domestic broadcast of that foreign show they heard about and it indirectly can show the popularity of a show if it is widely available. Call it a reader's perspective. That is my primary consideration in writing.
- Ah, the international broadcasters... I don't have a problem with including them, provided that each is cited. I didn't remove the table, though I suppose it may seem that way by the message I left on the talk page, but I think that including verified international broadcasters (in prose) is a good idea. I guess I just haven't gotten around to working on that quite yet. But I shall. And, of course, you're welcome to do so as well if you'd like. Cliff smith talk 17:18, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

- I like asking others for their opinion. I could unilaterally make a decision but we do work together and i like to have some input from other members of the project on how they think you would fit in. Right now it is one for eager but just means well & one for too eager and thus likely to rush through things. You have been told on a few occasions to take a few months of working some UAA reporting or CHU clerking into your regular edits and while it now has been more than a couple of months you did keep asking throughout those two months and a bit, at first a couple days later and then a few weeks later. I didn't answer at first. I wanted to have someone else look into your application. That didn't happen. Call it a test of patience that didn't go so well, so far. I'll see what others have to say.
- Well i have discussed your application with 4 other project members today and the feeling is that, well you put it best yourself in your editor review, "if there is a good legitimate reason to not have something I will accept it and take any advise given and try again in another few months." ACC is not something given to everyone. It requires a higher level of experience, trust, and patience. If you had initially taken the advice to spend a few months gaining more experience in things, including what i had mentioned, then it might be different now. By asking every few weeks you did not make a good impression. In an email on 11 July [8] the project coördinator, Stwalkerster, suggested you take a few months. That came before any of my discussions with you. It has not yet been two months since you were sent that email. About 15% of the project members have weighed in on your application, mostly the most active members, either via email or irc. None of them have said they would approve you at this time. While it is written specifically about requests for adminship the principles are relevant; see wikipedia:not now. I suggest you take a few months, heed the advice given, and ask in November or December.
- Thank you, I can assure I do mean well, as I am eager but would not rush it. I Just want to help on Wikipedia. I will take the advice and apply in November. Joe Gazz84user•talk•contribs•Editor Review 21:57, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello if you look at what i said on Acc i was curiouse as i said in what would happen if that was to happen so i see that there was no abuse done thought Acc and if im asking a sysop what would happen i really don't see the harm.-- Staffwaterboy Critique Me 16:45, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

ACC account
Hi, I was wondering if I meet the criteria for an ACC account yet? I sent an email to the account list email address, but have received no reply so I thought that it would be better to ask directly. Regards, Bobby122 Contact Me (C) 17:25, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, so first i checked August and September archives and i don't see any email that i can not account for as being from someone else. If you didn't make a typo in the email address then it is in the queue for moderation (which i do not have access to). If you want to send me a copy directly you can use Special:EmailUser/Deliriousandlost and i should receive it before one of the mailing list moderators gets to it. While it has been almost two months since you applied i did suggest you "keep it up" and well you edited for another week and then almost nothing for a month and a half until today when you got in a few hundred edits with Huggle. I am going to wait until your email is available, ask around a little to see what others think, and just take some time to review things myself before i decide. I would caution you that ACC is rather opposite to recent changes patrolling - it can be rather slow at times and taking time to go through things is rather important because unlike with Huggle it is not so easy to undo a mistake. If you don't mind the friendly but unglamourous nature of ACC then i should have an answer sometime later today.
- No problem I know that ACC is a big responsibility, I had to take a break for a little while to deal with some other things. I don't mind slow tedious tasks, I can handle some things for hours on end. Also, I like to do a variety of things on Wikipedia and I'm sure I'll enjoy ACC. - If you are awake you should have received the email notifying you that i approved you for ACC. Please do read wikipedia:request an account/Guide. The delay in getting back to you was nothing more than bad timing, other things. It coïncidentally allowed me to look back and notice a few things. First and foremost your dealing with the new user in the section below this one who insists upon removing pictures of our home-city because he doesn't like them. The pictures are legitimate. I lived there for almost 3 decades, the latter years in the part of the city depicted in the infobox picture. Your patience with my not getting back to you as initially planned was something nice to find too.
- I strongly recommend joining the IRC channel on freenode #Wikipedia-en-accounts. If you don't normally use IRC i have an embedded webchat on my website that you can use.[9] Often it is a great way to find some help from someone who has more experience. There is also the mailing list [10] (there are times when i write a lot there) which it is strongly encouraged that you sign up for so that you can be aware of what is going on. Most often it is just the daily stats. There is a proposal to make mailing list subscription mandatory. [11]
removal of sudbury pictures
Hello, I have once again removed those UGLY pictures of our city. I do not have access at the moment to new ones, but surely someone has better pictures of downtown Sudbury that could be posted on this wikipedia site. I would appreciate you either finding new ones and not re-posting the pictures, as they will continue to be removed as they are not representative of our city! Thank you for your help, michel5806
- Yeah, um
- Not ugly
- The existing ones do represent the city. In the skyline view looking south from Notre Dame Avenue i can see where my great uncle died from the flu in 1918 and disappeared from all family common knowledge until i found a piece of paper long since forgotten about, i can see where a set of my great-grandparents married, i can see where i lived before i moved a few years ago, i can see where i worked, i can see the St Joseph Health Centre, i can see some of the tops of trees in Bell Park, i can see Tom Davies Square, i can see the downtown Tim Horton's, i can see the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry building, i can see Brady Square, i can see three city buses, i can see Hnatyshyn Park, and i can see the tiniest bit of the narrow, twisting hillside Pearl Street. Yeah, must not be representative of Sudbury.
- There is always the option to use the image i already uploaded of the oldest building in the city. To most people it would be about the most unspectacular image or building to see. I am fascinated by it.
Hello, I was was checking to see if you received me email. Hope I didn't send it to someone else by mistake! Bobby122 Contact Me (C) 17:15, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, i received your email. Plans. They are never certain until they are past. Then we let the historians fight over what really happened :P See relevant previous section.

Disclaimer: It's very rare for me to send messages like this; it might seem frivolous or hypocritical, as I often complain about myspacing of the project. Hi. As you recently commented in the straw poll regarding the ongoing usage and trial of Pending changes, this is to notify you that there is an interim straw poll with regard to keeping the tool switched on or switching it off while improvements are worked on and due for release on November 9, 2010. This new poll is only in regard to this issue and sets no precedent for any future usage. Your input on this issue is greatly appreciated. Off2riorob (talk) 23:32, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
