Notability of Jose bent

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Jose bent, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 22:37, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Jose Arnoldo bent, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 23:31, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He may be real, but he's not notable, at least by Wikipedia standards (see WP:NOTE). You failed to provide any sources from third parties so that we could verify your assertions. I did a Google search on his name, including his middle name and the word Ireland, and came up with zero hits. As far as I know, you made this guy up out of thin air. Sorry, I won't restore the article, and I will mark it for speedy deletion again of you try to recreate it. Realkyhick 23:43, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. He wrote one bloody article in a party newspaper. It might have helped if you had used the name "Joe Bent" instead of "Jose Bent." Now I get three relevant Google hits, two of them having to do with a running club or something like that. An e-mail address for a correspondent? What, are you wanting to post the address on the article page? Come on, get off your own high horse! There is absolutely no way that this will clear any editor's standards for notability, which I suggest you read before you proceed. And please save the sarcastic remarks about my home - personal attacks on other editors are very much against Wikipedia policy and will result in your being blocked. It's nothing personal. It's just that the subject hasn't really done anything that meets Wikipedia notability standards, at least not yet. If you could have provided links to some newspaper or magazine articles written by others about Bent, you probably could have made it with this article. I'm going to post a link here to some of the "rules of the road" (something I should have done straight away) so that you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. This explains it better than I can. Here it is....
