Need Some Help Understanding
[edit]Hi... I'm an engineer at Immersion Corp. I'm trying to have a conversation with the volunteers who monitor that entry. I believe that the article's portrayal of Immersion as a "patent troll" is misleading and supported by very little evidence. I believe that my argument to the contrary is stronger.
I posted to the Immersion Corporation Talk page, as someone with a COI is expected to do. However, you recommended my Talk post be deleted as well as recommending my personal user page for speedy deletion. I’ve updated my user page according to advice I got from the Teahouse where they recommended I remove hyperlinks and more clearly disclose my purpose for creating a User Page. I’m hoping to repost my initial comment to continue the conversation.
I would like to understand where I went wrong. Thanks in advance for your help.-- Barb.helfer (talk) 20:13, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

- An RfC proposing an off-wiki LTA database has been closed. The proposal was broadly supported, with further discussion required regarding what to do with the existing LTA database and defining access requirements. Such a tool/database formed part of the Community health initiative's successful grant proposal.
- Some clarifications have been made to the community banning and unblocking policies that effectively sync them with current practice. Specifically, the community has reached a consensus that when blocking a user at WP:AN or WP:ANI, it is considered a "community sanction", and administrators cannot unblock unilaterally if the user has not successfully appealed the sanction to the community.
- An RfC regarding the bot policy has closed with changes to the section describing restrictions on cosmetic changes.
- Users will soon be able to blacklist specific users from sending them notifications.
- Following the 2017 elections, the new members of the Board of Trustees include Raystorm, Pundit and Doc James. They will serve three-year terms.
Revdel thoughts
[edit]Hey, just as a note, when you revdel something by request (like at Assassinorum: Execution Force) make sure you remove the revdel template ;)
Also, out of curiosity, why the R2 revdel? Was that a misclick? It looked like just copyvio to me. Primefac (talk) 01:43, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Why did you delete Lewis O'Donnell
[edit]Hey I don't understand why you deleted Page Lewis O'Donnell it had references. I see many pages with only one reference. Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inovativeguy (talk • contribs) 06:04, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Inovativeguy: 2 reasons- you created it on the talk page, you created it w/ a speedy deletion tag. Looks like you had a copy sitting around since December. It was recreated w/ deletion tags then too. Try pasting it to the article page, only w/o the deletion tags. Dlohcierekim (talk) 06:15, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Allow me to reconstuct Southern City Colleges and to resolve the issues in regarding how the article was constructed. I understand how it was poorly constructed and had resulted to several issue and had once nominated for deletion. As to the main subject of the article, Southern City Colleges does exist and is worthy to have its own article since it is one of the oldest institution to Zamboanga City.

[edit]Just FYI, but the user's creation don't actually appear to be promotional. Rather, as far as I can tell, they are entirely invented subjects. They all seem to trace back to greenytoonsuniverse.wikia.com, which itself, doesn't actually seem to be about anything. It's... a lot of invented articles that don't actually seem to have any basis in any real or fictional universe as far as I can tell. It's actually a little bizarre. [edit]Does User:Jim Madrid pass your G11 standard? Legacypac (talk) 18:55, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, with promospeak like "a masterful business leader, author, teacher and educator, who is remarkably successful at empowering individuals and teams to achieve their full potential." <gagging /> Might want to tag for U5, but I see G11 is already there. Might want to engage user in discussion about W not being a webhost. Has he made other edits? Dlohcierekim (talk) 22:02, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Legacypac:
- Yes.
- Why are you patrolling user pages? There's like a fifty gagillion page backlog on articles. Are you just trying to get more experience before going after articles?
- TimothyJosephWood 20:12, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- There is also a huge backlog in userpage patrol and even fewer editors working on it. Lots of spam, copyvio, hoaxes etc. In page curation tool you can select either Articles or Userpages. I work both. Killing off spam before it gets copied into mainspace is another reason. Legacypac (talk) 20:15, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- Legacypac: Well, the difference is that a userspace draft can sit there literally forever, and it probably won't harm anything. Memory is cheap...very cheap. But a new article after a few months automatically gets the NOINDEX removed, meaning it's visible to search engines, and is more likely to be seen by someone. In fact, user pages aren't even currently counted in the NPP backlog. TimothyJosephWood 21:06, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- No index is stripped after 30 days in mainspace. Userpages are visable in Google - try it. If you switch to Userpages in the Page Curation tool you can see the backlog, well part of it. They fall off the NPP patrol list at some point. See also WP:ABANDONED I both deleting problimatic material and resurfacing useful material. Legacypac (talk) 21:14, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- Only really old userpages are indexed. A google search for each of our names shows only things we've done tangentially (mostly reports and non-Wikipedia wikis). Obviously no one has any call to stop you doing whatever it is you want to do, I think TJW just wanted to give you a helpful suggestion. Primefac (talk) 21:46, 4 June 2017 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

[edit]Hi I'm pretty much a novice at the Wikipedia. I'd updated my profile to highlight who I was and my authority to make changes to factually incorrect content about our organization on Wikipedia. Looks like that stayed into your definition of advertising rather than clear identification of a user's identity and qualification to make changes. Not to worry, I've created a new profile and kept it simple. Hopefully this will avoid the instant death suffered by my previous attempt. Repeated Page Deletion of ITC Infotech
[edit]Hi Dlohcierekim,
This is regarding the repeated deletion of ITC Infotech article which I have been trying to create for a while now. I'm a total novice here and had created the draft after properly going through the guidelines specified by Wikipedia and after understand the specifics of each guidelines. I have intentionally not tried to promote any article which is advertorial nor have I indulged in what you termed as "Sockpuppet". Hence, I would like to request you in helping me create an article for ITC Infotech by making me understand the specifics of the guidelines. I'm directly associated with ITC Infotech and have full authority for attempting to create an article. Kindly let me know how to proceed with this further.
Thanks in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Imorningstar85 (talk • contribs) 11:38, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Imorningstar85: Well. You have a conflict of interest as you are writing on behalf of the company you belong to. Which explains why the thing reads like spam. You have been trained to write that way. It is not how an encyclopedia article can be written. Read WP:Paid. You probably don't need to be creating/editing articles that you are this connected with. We really do not want "authorized" individuals writing about their companies unless they can write in a neutral point of view. This is an encyclopedia. It is not a webhost for you to talk about your company. As an encyclopedia, it has inclusion requirements. That means a lot has to be written about the subject by people not connected with the subject. Also, I'm not the one who initiated the sockpuppet investigation. I simply let Fortuna know who had created the thing in the past. This is the problem-- whenever we see this sort of editing pattern, we think all individuals connected with the page are connected in real life, to each other and to the subject. It staggers our credulity that so many people would create a promospeak piece about the same subject. The place to address that concern is at the sockpuppet investigation, after reading about defending your self. Wait a tick. You've "have been trying to create for a while now"? How long? The first edit by your current account was on 2017-06-06, at T10:46:57UTC. This suggest to me that you are using multiple accounts which can mean sockpuppetry. You really will need to explain that. Going forward, you need to read WP:paid and make the required declaration on your user page. Admin advise You are hereby officially discouraged in editing the thing in any way that violates WP:paid.Dlohcierekim (talk) 12:51, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

back to ITC InfoTech
[edit]Hi Dlohcierekim,
"directly associated" doesn't signify that I'm an employee of the firm. I'm a friend of someone working in that firm and by no means is being paid for doing what i'm trying to do. "do not want "authorized" individuals writing about their companies" - "full authority for attempting to create " again doesn't say that I'm an employee as you have specified again. I believe Wikipedia encourages people to make valuable and informative contributions and that is exactly the reason why I attempted to create an article.
If Wikipedia is an encyclopedia like you said, one look at the draft I had posted would have been sufficient to understand that what I had submitted is highly neutral and not at all promotional.
I simply do not understand the logic behind deleting a submission without even giving it a chance.
"have been trying to create for a while now" signifies that I have been working hard on collecting the required information and references in order to create an article which I'm sure you would agree is a tedious and time consuming task. It does not mean that I have been writing article after article on wiki as you have misunderstood.
I have been as transparent as possible with the entire process and have submitted my article with utmost sincerity. I was asked to help out because he knew that I would be as unbiased as possible with the entire thing which I believe I have been.
I believe it would be really helpful if you could advise me on how I can improve my poor writing skills because as you said "It is not how an encyclopedia article can be written" rather than levelling charges such as sockpuppetry & conflict of interest which is not helping my cause.
Thanks in advance for understanding and for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Imorningstar85 (talk • contribs) 11:40, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

- @Ayushjain772: Yes. per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rawat Public School, Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, the consensus was that the subject was not sufficiently notable to have a stand alone article. To recreate the thing, reliable sources such as books, magazines and newspapers will need to have written a lot about the subject. In such instances, the policy, as mentioned in the discussion, is to redirect as was done. Attempts to reverse that decision were viewed as disruptive, hence the protection on the page. If your friend (or you for that matter) is posting articles about the school he goes to, he may have a conflict of interest. If you are using multiple accounts or co-ordinating off-wiki with another editor, you should know that such activity is frowned upon sternly. Also, if someone is receiving compensation, then WP:PAID applies. If this is the case, I recommend reading WP:PAID very carefully.Recreating the same article by different names may come to be viewed as disruptive. Please see the conversation immediately above this one. Cheers, Dlohcierekim (talk) 17:10, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Deprod: Sean Patrick Hazlett
[edit]Hi, I have deprodded Sean Patrick Hazlett on procedural grounds, as recent good-faith comments on the talk page indicate that deletion is not uncontroversial. I would have no objection to nominating this article at AfD. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:14, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Kuyabribri: Thanks. I'd declined the CSD as it obviously signified significance. W/O looking, I'd venture to say it was probably challenged by the creator/subject. Yep, those protest were made about the CSD. It was not so promo as to trigger a visceral response, unlike another article mentioned above. Whether anyone wishes to AfD the thing is their own affair. My this message is regarding your recent delete of the page 'Shriguru Pawan Ji'
[edit]Sir I need some guidance regarding this , The matter I had posted earlier in that article was taken up from a third party source : http://www.ippairetreat.com/Speaker-Bios.aspx?sid=538 and This website in-turn has taken introduction material from our website http://paavanchintandhara.com/content/about-guruji
so in that case I should not go with the words or sentences I have provided anywhere else, here on wikipedia I need to publish totally a new piece of work just indicating the references of third party source ???
One more thing I want to ask is that I have many Newspaper clippings of the seminars conducted by Shriguru Pawan Ji (Name of the Celeb ,the article is about) but those clippings are in different language and are from the year 2012 2013 and are not available on the websites of the specific newspaper now, so how can i utilise them for reference purpose....
Thanking You (Pcdashram (talk) 10:11, 15 June 2017 (UTC)) @Pcdashram: Material from you website is not coverage from a reliable third party souece with a reputation for fact checking. It cannot be used to meet the general notability guideline. Any material that is copyrighted cannot be used on Wikipedia. All content here must meet WP:creative commons and WP:GFDL. We are a "free contetn encyclopedia"-- both gratis and libre. The newspaper sources would need to be in depth, not just announcements. To cite a newspaper, use Template:Cite newspaper. Be sure to use plain wordage, avoid "puffery". See WP:peacock for examples of what not to use. Basically no superlatives. No adjectives or adverbs that seem to praise or elevate the subject. Hope this helps. Dlohcierekim (talk) 13:32, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
TriageLogic Draft Page
[edit]You left a comment on my DRAFT page stating that the entry I am in the process of writing and editing "This reads like a corporate web page-- it's promotional in tone. The URAC cite does not treat the subject in depth. There is no indication of the subject meeting WP:GNG or WP:CORP." I would like some clarification as to how it reads like this, as there is very little information, and the information that is present on this page is about the company. Furthermore, how is this any different than Healthdirect's page, which reads in the same manner?
Aherring11 (talk) 13:28, 15 June 2017 (UTC) Aherring11
- @Aherring11: I have struck the promo speak. Wordage like "focused" "affordable triage solutions" "the goal of establishing". Mission and vision statements are right out. All of the content must be sourced from a reliable source, unconnected with the subject, and with a reputation for fact checking. That's mostly magazines, books, newspapers. Almost any media will do, though, if it meets the reliability need. As to the other page, I'll look at it too.Dlohcierekim (talk) 13:43, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, Dlohcierekim. I had already indeffed the "Adamhatesafricanamericans" account, without a block notice. And I don't think they're ever going to require the instructions for appealing the block, either. United Nations Youth Association of the Philippines
[edit]Hi Dlohcierekim,
I would like to contest the deletion of the article. I am a current member of the United Nations Youth Association of the Philippines and the article talks about both the history (which is the exact same link that you referenced) and the current.
To note, I am not stealing any info but am actually referencing the details in the Wikipedia page. Details of the history also actually from the Organization's past leaders. Thus, some of the details in the Wikipedia are true.
Hope that you can reconsider the article. Thank you!

Undo deletion of page
[edit]Hi there,
Please undo the deletion of the page Richard Johnson Anglican School. I respect that you feel it has violated protocol, but the information on there is generic about the school and its location. Please allow me to remove the content you think is biased to revert it back to the generic page.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MelanieRJAS (talk • contribs) 23:29, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
- @MelanieRJAS: Thanks for your note. Let me start with a question-- are you paid to edit the article? Certainly your user name gives that impression. Drm310 left you a message about that. If so, there are disclosures you must make. You need to read WP:PAID if that is the case. Certainly you seem to have a conflict of interest that may blind you to the promotional nature of your edits.
- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it is not a venue for promoting a business. Also, I see you deleted the notices regarding promotionalism and the use of copyrighted material on Wikipedia. You need to read them. In any event, as it sat this was an an unambiguously promotional article that would need to be completely rewritten as well as not meeting WP:Creative commons or WP:GFDL. We are not able to accept material copyrighted elsewhere. Once again, please read the notices on your talk page that you removed. Please be aware that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Subjects of articles must have verifiable information from reliable, third party sources, with a reputation for fact checking, that have covered the subject in depth and to a significant degree. The sourcing you added did not meet that criterion.
- I have restored revisions of the article that do not meet WP:CSD#G11 and/or WP:CSD#g12. Thanks and happy editing.Dlohcierekim (talk) 00:55, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
Jon Colwell
[edit]Hello there! I just now seen your message about the Jon Colwell Article. I apologize deeply for the autobiography. I did not know that you could create a page about oneself. I thank you for the helpful information that you left me and I feel that the article has a small shred of notability due to the fact that I have made a positive impact on Hazard and Perry County, Kentucky through Radio. I went to see if there were any proposed changes to make to the article to keep it on it's talk page, but there were no new messages. What should I change about the article and is it possible that another user can make the required changes to keep the article on the site? Thank you so much so far and I can't wait to hear back from you! (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:47, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
The article Regene Lim has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This PROD is related to the earlier deletion request that you were involved in, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Damien Teo. I accidentally missed out the page in the AfD for Damien Teo. It would have been deleted together with the pages for all the other child actors. DerricktanJCW (talk) 06:36, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

I have raised a new AfD for this individual, Regene Lim, and it would be appreciated if you would proceed to the AfD (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Regene Lim (2nd nomination) to voice your opinion with regards to this proposed deletion. Essentially, you need to rewrite it without making it read like an advert. Please read User:Dlohcierekim/promo for some advice on how to avoid that. FxPro article
[edit]Hello Dlohcierekim,
Not sure where shall I reply to your message, thus, I will post it here and on my talk page.
Yes, I'm the FxPro employee, however, I wouldn't call myself a paid publisher as I'm not paid specifically for Wikipedia articles. We used to have a good Wikipedia article for several years. But at some point that article became out of date, so I decided to ask an "experienced" Wikipedian to help. It appeared to be a mistake, as the page now is being considered for deletion. That's why I posted that offer on Upworks seeking for someone who can advise me on how to proceed, which is clearly stated in that job offer. Please be informed that I didn't ask anyone to participate in the deletion log.
So, basically, what I want is to have a proper Wikipedia page about FxPro, that complies with all Wikipedia rules. If needed - I can help with the references. I will not touch that article in order not to have COI.
If there is any way we can proceed with this article - please let me know.
Thank you for understanding, Mcmikhedoff — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcmikhedoff (talk • contribs) 20:11, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Dlohcierekim,
- As you might have noticed the article has been already deleted. However, I still believe that FxPro is notable and deserves an article on Wikipedia. Could you please advise is there any way how can we get this page back, so that it has no COI and 100% compliant with Wikipedia rules?
- Thank you!
- Mcmikhedoff (talk) 07:43, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Dlohcierekim,
Did you have a chance to have a look on my questions? Mcmikhedoff (talk) 14:20, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
This article was around since 2013 before being deleted as a copyright violation. Are we sure we copied the websites rather than the websites copying us? It's very common for artists or musicians to copy/paste their Wikipedia entry as a biography without understanding copyright rules. It's also common for them to give bits of that biography to galleries, etc. as a blurb. ~ Rob13Talk 02:23, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
- @BU Rob13: Good question. Can't remember the details. LEt's ask @Chrissymad: to help us out with decision making. There's another similar one I want to review. Will likely restore both, but will see how this conversation goes. I will be starting my sleep-work cycle, so will be off line for periods of time. Dlohcierekim (talk) 02:39, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
- I'm on mobile so pardon any errors but my search showed this was not reverse copyvio (and iirc promo). I'll gladly look into it more tomorrow. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- @Chrissymad: Any result on this? ~ Rob13Talk 15:15, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
- BU Rob13 At the time when I looked at this it did not appear to be a reverse copyvio but I can't recall all the specifics this long after (and I've tried). I also tagged it for g11 as it was inappropriate for Wikipedia and I can't imagine we'd let that sit for four years (or rather, long enough to become a reverse copyvio but even so...) Anyhow, copyright aside, promo seems to be an equally big issue there. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 15:44, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Deleting a living person biography without references
[edit]Hi sir, on 15/06/2017 you proposed the article Vassilis Bratsiakos to be deleted because lacked references. This article is actually a translation of the Greek article Βασίλης Μπρατσιάκος enhanced with more details. Could I have put it like a reference? How can I bring back this article now? For sure there is a way. Please help me do it, I've spent a lot of time doing it! Thanks in advance Markoskol11 (talk) 05:11, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Markoskol1: reliable sources that treat the subject in depth. Wikipedia articles cannot be used as anyone can edit a Wikipedia article. Are there RS on the Greek article? NO. I see you created that one too? I guess the Greek Wikipedia is less concerned with verifiability than we are. Where'd you get the information in the first place? What connection do you have with the subject?Dlohcierekim (talk) 08:53, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

- When creating an article, provide references to reliable published sources. An article without references, especially a biography of a living person, may be deleted.
- You can also start your new article at Special:Mypage/Hacker Nucleus. There, you can develop the article with less risk of deletion, ask other editors to help work on it, and move it into "article space" when it is ready. Hope this helps.Dlohcierekim (talk) 15:25, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of Fabiano de Abreu page
[edit]Dear Dlohcierekim,
I would like you reconsider your position of deleting the page I wrote about Fabiano. It has nothing to do with promotion or advertising. It's a biography of someone I consider important, and also he has a lot of appearances at the media and television that shows his relevance. My intention is clearly not promoting him, and the text was not meant to be an advertising text, but a non partial one.
Fabiano is an important journalist and businessman in Brazil.
If you believe the text is not good, please, restore it so I can fix it, or move it to my sandbox, so I can work on it until your approval. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jsmithn22 (talk • contribs) 14:05, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

- Even with the best written article on him, I would be surprised if he were found notable in a community discussion here. Being less-than-notabnle in a number of different careers does not add up to notability. But if you want to try, focus on the most important parts, & omit adjectives of praise. His book will only be significant if he has received substantial critical reviews in recognized sources, not just appearances at a local library. His columns will only be significant if other people have discussed them in a substantial way , again in recognized independent sources. Being certified as a journalist is not an award. Failed businesses do not lead to notability . Founding a PR company is significant only if the company itself is notable, and both it and his specific role in it have been discussed substantially, once more in recognized independent sources. [edit]There was clearly no consensus to delete those articles, consensus was clearly that they are notable, and there's no reason to delete perfectly good articles where consensus was clearly to keep. Smartyllama (talk) 16:09, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Smartyllama:As I recall, they were all WP:CSD#G5. A link might be nice to clarify the matter. If any were not G5 please let me know. One of the creations of this particular creator I had rescued from BLPProD. I don't wholly agree w/ G5, but I understand the rationale. Dlohcierekim (talk) 18:08, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Dlohcierekim: They were noted as G5, but unfortunately I can't see the edit history so I don't know if they were actually G5 or if this was in error. The vast majority of the intact Delegate District articles (the ones which were not nominated for deletion), including some which the sock edited, had multiple editors though, so I find it hard to believe these didn't. Even if they didn't, I would have improved them had I known. By the way, here is the link to the AfD. Smartyllama (talk) 18:18, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, he was the sole significant editor. I'm looking for a way to bring them back under policy. I once G5'd an article only to have the person who tagged it recreate the thing and show me she had done so on my talk page. I'll look through again, for the sake of thoroughness. Interestingly, I don't see it mentioned at Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Reasons_for_deletion. Still digging, looking for a way. Cheers, Dlohcierekim (talk) 18:23, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Smartyllama: Yeah. rechecked. For some of them, a user that had minorly edited returned to apply the G5 Tag. I have stared a thread at Wikipedia_talk:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#rehashing_a_perennial_issue--_G5, if you wish to opine. It won't change anything, but maybe someone will tell me ways to get them back, and I feel better for sharing. Dlohcierekim (talk)
- @Dlohcierekim: Any update on this? The discussion seems to have fizzled out and I'd like to get these articles restored. What is the appropriate next step? Smartyllama (talk) 12:40, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion messages
[edit]I noticed you have left at least two speedy deletion messages that us a special format. I was wondering if this format could be made available to anyone wanting to leave such a message.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:49, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Vchimpanzee: Certainly. They are at User:Dlohcierekim/del and User:Dlohcierekim/g11. I just substitute transclude them to save typing. Dlohcierekim (talk) 21:10, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Heh. Not really. I can't remember when but I tried to fix a typo in one once, and they're protected. No idea what I was doing that I didn't have time to leave a note. Maybe wanna downgrade to auto-con or EC so that other folks can tinker. TimothyJosephWood 21:25, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
