Your user page

[edit]

Wikipedia is not a web host for holding personal web pages unrelated to work on building the encyclopaedia. You are, of course, very welcome to start making contributions to the encyclopaedia, in line with Wikipedia policies and guidelines if you are interested in doing so, but if your only interest is in writing a personal web page, then there are many web sites which provide that sort of service, but Wikipedia is not one of them. Also please note that promotional editing of any kind is not permitted by Wikipedia policy. That includes editing to publicise your blog.JBW (talk) 06:49, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JBW, sure - thanks for the guidance. May be I will hold my user page edits for now & will update it after a good contribution! And would refrain from usage like a personal web page or promotion of the same. Deepak Prince W (talk) 08:33, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Deepak: You only stepped over our line about personal web pages a relatively small amount. I actually thinks it helps if new contirbutors to Wikipedia add a couple of sentences about their interests and reasons for editing Wikipedia, but it's never advisable to include external links to any other websites or off-wiki publications or products you're involved with. You are welcome to recreate your userpage, but next time keep it a bit simpler. Something like.
Hi, I'm xxxxx; I live in xxxx country and my interests include xxxx, xxxxx and xxxx. I speak xxxx and xxxx languages and I hope to contribute to articles about xxxxx. (Just don't include anything personal or contact details which you wouldn't want anyone to see.
All the best, Nick Moyes (talk) 09:18, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
