Fair use rationale for Image:Dawson-college-cp-1850805.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dawson-college-cp-1850805.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Semiprotect
You mean from User talk:69.234.149.119? It looks like the IP's stopped. I'll block the IP if it comes again. It's generally not a good idea to semiprotect a page to prevent a single IP from editing. --HappyCamper 01:40, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Dawson
Hi, and thanks for your work on Dawson College shooting. Now, you noted that the victim died at MGH. I believe that, and in fact have added it in the past myself, but there seems to be confusion over this. Could you link to your source, so that we can try to clear this up? --Kizor 10:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Dawson College shooting article name
Would you mind moving the article Dawson College massacre back to Dawson College shooting? I can't do it, because I would violate the 3RR rule and would end up getting temporarily blocked. ♠ SG →Talk 23:43, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Re: Gatineau move...
Well, I considered 5:3 to be a consensus as it is more than 60%... but then again, you are right, it's not the strongest consensus I've seen. But, it sounded reasonable to me, since it is already a redirect so I thought 60% would be enough to move it... --Dijxtra 00:05, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Take a look at User:Lincher/Sandbox for it gives more information about his early life ... with this you will be able to complete the article and I will wait before assessing the GA status of the article. Cheers. Lincher 21:34, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- If you look at the link in the bottom of my sandbox page, it links to a page where his career is better outlined and has more accurate information, you might want to look at that and add it in too. This would also backup the current addition you made. Lincher 22:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
The passed motion to move dwarf planets to Name (dwarf planet) is currently being finalised at the Talk: 1 Ceres page. As you participated in the original debate, it would help if you could now add your vote there. I'm aware you're sick of this debate, but if passed it would seem that this matter would be settled for the foreseeable future. The Enlightened 19:39, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I've actually been volunteering for Alex since August myself. I was there yesterday in fact, and will be in on Saturday (hopefuly) to put up signs. Right now I am helping Simon with some maps for the campaign. -- Earl Andrew - talk 16:20, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- No, I havn't worked on any phoning myself. I try and avoid that kind of thing because I do enough of it at work. Simon had told me there were other Wikipedians working on the campaign, and I think he may have mentioned you. Anyways, hope to see you on the hustings! -- Earl Andrew - talk 20:38, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's great to hear that you are helping out on the campaign. It is a very close election, and there is a huge need for volunteers. When you are next in the office simply ask for Simon, I am there pretty much every waking hour these days. - SimonP 00:20, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
RE: AIV
Hi Deenoe! I think you might be a bit confused, or rather, my edit summary was confusing. I actually indefinitely blocked that IP, so that whomever uses that IP must register an account first. I think that you might be referring to a different report that I removed because of an edit summary. If I recall correctly, the report I removed was an instance of formatting and style changes on WWF / WWE - type wrestler's page. I hope this cleared things up! Picture deletion
I'm not sure which pictures you mean. I have deleted over 2,000 images over the past three days, so I need to know more specifics. :)
Some of the pictures I deleted because they were fair-use, but not used in any articles. Others had no source information, or no copyright information. If you look at my deletion summary for the image you are referring to, it will tell you.
All the best, – Quadell (talk) (random) 20:16, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm afraid the images did not pass our fair use guidelines. Specifically, criterion #1 says that if it would be possible to photograph the subject and release that photo under a free license, then we may not use a non-free photo. The counter-example listed for point #8 also says that a non-free photo of a living person, used to illustrate what the person looks like on Wikipedia, is not allowed. User:Earl Andrew is doing a great job of providing free images of public figures, and I wish more people would do that. But as Jimbo Wales has said on multiple occasions, it is better to have no photo at all than to have a non-free one, if it would be possible to create a free one at some point. All the best, – Quadell (talk) (random) 04:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Pictures
I've sent emails to all the candidates requesting permission to use their photos. So far I have got a picture from O'Brien's office and Anwieler has allowed me to use the one we already have. I believe Jane is letting us use hers? You need to have the proper summary for the photo though. I hate these image nazis, but what can I do? -- Earl Andrew - talk 04:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- I still haven't got a response from Bob's office or Pollock's office. Larter only has a phone number, and I know the Citizen tried to track him down with no success. If you can get images from them, that would be excellent. -- Earl Andrew - talk 21:17, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Wade Redden
According to TSN website; Redden missed his third straight game (Nov. 4 vs Carolina Hurricanes)? GoodDay 15:38, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've checked the Ottawa Senators website, yet couldn't find any mention of Redden's pending return. However, if he's returning to active duty, then by all means remove the 'injury' tag. But also, remove the A from Fisher (as he was wearing the A, only in Redden's abscence). GoodDay 16:06, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
I admit, I added th A to Fisher, in Redden's abscence. However, I too have been considering (with all 30 team articles), that it's a poor pratice (when the Captain and/or Alternates are out of the lineup for short periods of time). Perhaps a solution would be to add a C Or in this case an A, only when a Letter player is on 'Injured Reserve or perhaps lost for the season. What'd think? GoodDay 17:05, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, as an Example: Redden keeps an A weither he's in the lineup or not (unless he gets traded or retires of course). If he's on 'Injured Reserve' (long-term injury), Fisher (or whoever is designated) wears (a third) A in Redden's abscence. However if the injury in only short-term 'day to day' (as is Redden's currrent situation), then we don't bother putting a third A next to Fisher or anybodyelse (just leave the A's Redden & Phillips). If Redden is 'Injured Reserve', then it's A= Redden (IR), A= Phillips, A= Fisher. If Redden is 'day to day', then it's A= Redden (injury) & A= Phillips. GoodDay 17:26, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Pyrokinesis
First, the removed infomation was repetitive and un-needed, why have an enclopedic entry filled with fire related fancruft? "well pyrokinesis can be used to make dragons, and turn into lava, and burn things DeeDeeDee!" All of the info needed to be condensed and many of the "feats" were the same thing (fireballs and fireblasts and firebolts are all just throwing flame ok). Second, you removed the edits I made to the comics and manga section which correctly linked the names of Fever and Charcoal to their appopriate articles. That was just ignorant —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 204.116.172.94 (talk • contribs) .

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Beirut&Haifa.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Beirut&Haifa.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 02:30, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Tags
I've put the tags for the two since the article mentions that the board locations are in Ottawa and that the coverage includes the Ottawa area. I have also added tag for Prescott-Russell WikiProject since it covers the county as well. However, Is there any template tag for the Ontario WikiProject (there is no template on the Ontario Wiki Project itself. Yes they do deserve an Ontario Tag.
AS you may noticed I've been running around the Ottawa/Gatineau articles and tagged those that were not yet. As for tags for other means I could or one can do it later on. Also is there a tag specific for categories related to the Wikiproject ottawa (it seems there is only one with this article and none with this category).
I have also tagged Fisher Park High School for copyright violation as someone copy and paste some content from [1]
Second of all, I have noticed that Ottawa has plenty of articles about schools (even public schools) and gives me an idea of a long range project about creating articles on Gatineau schools at least the High schools including De l'Ile, Mont-Bleu, Le Carrefour, Nicolas-Gatineau, St-Joseph, St-Alexandre, Hormidas-Gamelin, D'Arcy McGee, Le Versant and the one I am an alumni L'Erabliere
Feel free to modify any incorrect tags and feel free also to comment on whether we should be articles about schools in Gatineau. i will post it also in WikiProject Ottawa. Thanks!--JForget 01:39, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Ottawa Senators
I appreciate your concern for NPOV, but I don't think that its terribly POV to say that when a team loses repeatedly this is a "difficult" or "bad" time for the team, almost by definition. I have no doubt that were we to check through the newspaper archives, the spring of 2001 would be full of angry editorials on the subject of the third major "choke" in 3 years. This was the only period that they lost 3 series in a row, and the only period that they were ever swept in a playoff series. I think that its a valid point to make considering the outrage at the time, and the legacy that period has left the Senators since, as their reputation as "chokers" developed at that time. Peregrine981 17:20, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think that its POV to say the Sens have a reputation as a poor playoff team... does anyone think that they aren't? ask any hockey writer. No sources is "NPOV". We just have to represent their POVs in an NPOV way. Peregrine981 17:26, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Fine we'll take that out and simply leave the part about how it was a difficult time for the team. Sports editorials, as any other source, are inherently POV, but that doesn't mean we can't use them as sources. They're one of the few verifiable sources we have about information in the sports world. Peregrine981 19:31, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:CECLFCE.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:CECLFCE.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Requested moves
Hi Yongblood,
As per Wikipedia:Requested moves, "Discussion to find consensus is encouraged for page moves requested on this page. Requested moves may be implemented if there is a Wikipedia community consensus (generally 60% or more) supporting the moving of an article after five (5) days under discussion on the talk page of the article to be moved, or earlier at the discretion of an administrator. The time for discussion may be extended if a consensus has not emerged." As per that, I would wait five days from the formal start of the proposed move discussion at Talk:De La Salle Secondary School before assessing if consensus exists or not. So that'd be...July 18. I'd encourage you to check out Wikipedia:Consensus itself, the article should clear up what constitues consensus and what doesn't. Best, Kurieeto 17:38, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:JeanLeclerc-Mexico.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:JeanLeclerc-Mexico.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 17:25, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
