help needed
Hi Decltype, I have written an article named Banaz a Love Story, which is in fact a film. I also uploaded the poster of the film to use as a picture. I have got the permission from the directer of the film Deeyah to use the poster. But I don't know how to get a permission which is to be posted or used here on wikipedia. Can you please, contact her to sort this matter for me. Thanks in advance. Mehmda (talk) 19:30, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Mehmda. Matters may be more complicated than that, because the director does not necessarily hold copyright to the film poster. Only the author of the artwork can release it under a free license (as required by Wikimedia Commons). However, the poster can be used on the English Wikipedia under the non-free content criteria. That is, if you upload a smaller version (no more than 400x400) locally (here), it can be used as an illustration to the film article. I can help you make sure the file is tagged correctly afterwards.
- If you happen to know who created the film poster, I can compose a standardized letter asking for release under a suitable license so it may also be used on other Wikimedia projects. Regards,
decltype
(contact) 10:20, 3 October 2012 (UTC)- This is the reply I got from Deeyah. "Fuuse Films owns the copyright to the film poster. Which is my company". That means Deeyah is the person who is in position to give permission for use of the poster to the article. Can you please contact her. Thanks.Mehmda (talk) 18:10, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

A guy needs to be warned if not banned
Hi Decltype, can you check what this guy "Kinahus" is doing with the article about Adil Khan, his edits have been reverted back, but he comes back again to make some mess with the article. Possibly , he has some personal thing against Adil because of Norske Talenter. I can fix the page, but the guy would be back again to mess up. Can you talk to him before I fix the page to its earlier state. Thanks,

Requesting your opinion on a photo
Hi. We really need your opinion on which of these photos would make the best Infobox portrait for the Rick Remender article. Could you please offer your opinion in that discussion? The most recent subsection of that discussion is here, so you can just chime in there if you don't want to read the whole thread. I really appreciate it. Thanks. The article List of players on High Stakes Poker has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This article is entirely redundant. Aside from the list of players in the table, the prose adds nothing that isn't already or should just be in the High Stakes Poker article.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.--Atlan (talk) 02:58, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Can you restore this article, Erica Schoenberg? It looks like it was proded which I am contesting she was notable in her own right with over 800k in earning and multiple poker related appearances. I can clean and update article depending on its condition. Thanks! Valoem talk 05:47, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Also could you restore the following article to my user space with full history intact?
Valoem talk 05:52, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- I restored Erica Schoenberg and userfied Alquimia. Aimo Leikas had no content or history, except for a test page/possible attack page, so I did not restore that one. I agree that Erica Schoenberg is probably notable, a cursory search reveals sources like [1]. Good luck improving the articles. Regards,

Hey, I was wondering if you could restore the talk page for that page and also the redirect C+Swiss. I wrote the article prior to being able to add citations because I was editing from an IPhone. I have seen been able to added some additional info. It was a speedy delete which I am contesting. Thanks! Valoem talk 14:13, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- I have restored the pages. In general, when an article is deleted by any other process than PROD, you may want to consult the deleting admin directly. In this case undeletion is uncontroversial, but that may not always be the case. However, feel free to ask here if you are unsure. And keep up your article work :) Regards,

- Hi, I have userfied the two most substantial versions. Keep in mind that the most recent version in each case may not be the most useful one, as they were both deleted multiple times. Moreover, because the article was deleted after a deletion discussion (in both cases), the article best be listed at deletion review before being recreated in article space. Regards,

Problem with Spanish Wikipedia
Hi decltype, I have a huge problem and I hoped you can help me. Here's the deal, I have an account on the Spanish Wikipedia that's blocked, but for unfair reason.
I have access to internet conection by using an USB Modem, and a few months ago this device would access to various accounts and another people's IP addresses, and people could use my IP address too. An account called NebrazkaBIEBER (you can access to this link and see she's clearly blocked also in the Spanish Wikipedia) used my IP address and got me blocked by the user Taichi who I can't write to tell her my problem because I'm blocked, and my internet modem doesn't work to give me internet conection now and oddly I only can use Wikipedia.
I hope you can help me please to contact somebody of the Spanish Wikipedia, I don't know who else can give me a hand. And also needed to say that I am a good contribution to the English Wikipedia and I have been using it for a year and I haven't had any problems. If it's not much trouble I will email this to you aswell. Karlitatv (talk) 18:41, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Sorry to hear you are blocked on Spanish Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I am unable to review your case as my Spanish language skills are limited. Your explanation is a bit unclear about your circumstances. What is the message you get from the interface when you try to edit on Spanish Wikipedia? Perhaps you have been caught in an es:Wikipedia:Bloqueo automatic? In that case, you should use the {{desbloqueo}} template on your talk page there to have the block lifted. From es:WP:BLOCK:
- Make sure you include the block ID in your request. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Decltype. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:47, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Decltype.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
